PUNK VS. MOXLEY 2 AND MJF IS BACK: AEW ALL OUT 2022 PPV COVERAGE FROM CHICAGO

By Mike Johnson on 2022-09-04 19:01:00

AEW Trios Championship Tournament Final: The Elite with Brandon Cutler & Michael Nakazawa vs. Dark Order & Hangman Page.

Omega had a long introduction trolling Will Ospreay and Kevin Nash.  The other members of Dark Order came out with them but returned to the back since they are "injured."

Hangman and Nick Jackson started out.  Hangman shoulderblocked them down.  Matt and Reynolds tagged in.  Matt spit gum in his face and Alex lost his cool.  Silver and Reynolds double-teamed Matt and tried to stomp his hurt back but Hangman told them to stop.  THAT WAS STUPID.  You are trying to win the match!  Hangman and Omega, former Tag Championship partners, tagged in.  Chicago loved that.

They locked up and Omega backed Page into Page's own corner.  Silver tagged himself in.  Dark Order worked over Omega's arm.  They nailed a double legtrip then a stereo dropkick.  Hangman tagged in and went for a lariat to the outside but Omega ducked to the floor and Matt superkicked him.  It turned into the Elite show as they did all their big spots and worked over Hangman.  Hangman finally nailed a DVDR and made the hot tag to Silver, who cleaned house, even taking out Michael Nakazawa and Brandon Cutler before Nick Jackson shut him down.

Omega began drilling everyone with big suplexes.  He wiped out Silver with a Snap Dragon Suplex.  Reynolds and Silver hit him with a ton of offense to score a two count.  They went to do a T-Bird with  Silver but the Bucks tripped up Silver.  Omega freed himself and nailed the V-Trigger on Silver, who crashed to the floor.  Omega hit a big flip dive to the outside on everyone.  He tossed Reynolds back into the ring.  Matt went for a bucklebomb but Reynolds reversed it into a rana and Matt was sent into Nick and Kenny throwing kicks.  Hangman hit a dive to take out Nick.  They nailed a Pendulum Bomb on Matt but Nick dove in with a swanton to break it up.

Lots of superkicks leading to everyone being laid out.    Hangman and Page faced off but Rick Knox told them they weren't legal.  NOW Knox wants to enforce rules??? Come on.  They dragged their laid out partners to the corners and tagged in.  NOW, they fight.  They go back and forth until Omega nailed Tiger Driver '98 for a two count.  They battled to the top where Hangman nailed a Fallaway Slam/moonsault combo for a close two count.  He nailed the Buckshot lariat to the back of the head.  Hangman went for another but caught sight of Matt Jackson.  He hesistated and went for the move but Omega ducked and Nick Jackson nailed one of his own.  The crowd chanted, "This is awesome."

Omega nailed a V-Trigger but Silver smashed Omega with a knee strike when he grabbed at Omega.  Silver scored a close two count but was caught with a V-Trigger and the One-Winged Angel but Silver nailed a back elbow and scoered a two count.  Hangman went for a Buckshot lariat but Omega ducked and Silver was drilled.  Omega covered him and The Bucks dove on Hangman to stop him from making the save.

Your winners and first-ever AEW Trios Champions, The Elite!

If you like MOVES, there were a lot here, way too much to keep up with, but you knew that would be the style going in - big moves and not a lot of selling. If you wanted highlight reel stuff, they had this in spades.  They also sprinkled some soap opera in with Hangman-The Bucks-Omega to play off of down the line.  Live, Chicago loved the hell out of this.

TBS Champion Jade Cargill vs. Athena with Leila Gray & Kiera Hogan

Athena had new mechanical wings for her entrance.

Jade Cargill came out dressed and painted up like She-Hulk.  That was cool.  Athena nailed some big moves and covered Cargill.  She was pulled out by Gray and Hogan, who seemed a second off.  Athena laid them out on the floor.  She went for a Code Red but Jade escaped, then nailed a Samoan Drop.  She popped up and so did Athena.  Jade laid her out for a two count.

Jade nailed a leaping elbow into the buckles.  Athena battled back but was hit with an insane Beel out of the corner for a two count.  Athena nailed a bodypress off the ropes for a two count.  Athena ascended to the top and went for the O-Face.  Cargill blocked it but Athena nailed it with a knee strike.  Athena nailed a stunner variation for a two count.  Jade avoided a pump kick and rolled her up for a two count.  Athena went for a springboard and was nailed with a pump kick in the mid-air.  She nailed Jaded and scored the pin.

Your winner and still AEW TBS Champion, Jade Cargill!

Man, they worked so hard but at times, this seemed disjointed.  Cargill is undeniably a star.

Earlier today, Alex Marvez asked CM Punk if he was 100% tonight.  Punk said he's never been 100% walking into a fight.  Moxley has an easy target in his foot but he's not just fighting Punk, he's fighting all of Chicago.  He may have beaten Punk once but he won't beat him twice.
