PUNK VS. MOXLEY 2 AND MJF IS BACK: AEW ALL OUT 2022 PPV COVERAGE FROM CHICAGO

By Mike Johnson on 2022-09-04 19:01:00

Welcome to PWInsider.com's live, ongoing AEW All Out 2022 PPV coverage from the NOW Arena in Hoffman Estates, IL!  Tonight's coverage is brought to you by our good friends at www.highspots.com who are having a 20% off Labor Day sale on just about everything!

AEW All Out Zero Hour:

Excalibur and Tony Schiavone are your hosts.

RJ City interviewed Sammy Guevara and Tay Melo on "the red carpet."  Sammy said all Chicago really wants to see is them make out.  They started kissing but someone kept honking a horn.  It was Ortiz and Ruby Soho on a cart.  They charged and nailed Guevara with it after he shoved Melo out of the way.  Ruby nailed Melo with a trash can.  She carried Melo to the ring.  She ran Melo into the ring steps.  Ortiz brought Sammy into the ringside area as well.  They rang the bell.

AAA Mixed Tag Team Champions Sammy Guevara & Tay Melo vs. Ortiz & Ruby Soho.

Ortiz nailed a DVDR on Sammy.  Ruby nailed a rana, spiking Sammy.  Ortiz covered him for a two count.  Ortiz and Ruby were wearing war paint inspired by Bull Nakano.  Ruby went for a Poisonrana on Sammy but Melo drilled her with a pump kick.  Guevara was bleeding from a hardway cut. Melo was caught with a backdrop driver.

Ruby made thetag to Ortiz who cleaned house on Sammy.  Ortiz has really added to his physique in recent weeks.   He suplexed Guevara and held him for Ruby to come off the top but Melo interfered.  Sammy backdropped Melo over and she nailed a Code Red on Ortiz.  That was different.  Ruby came off the top with a shotgun missile dropkick on Melo and hit a senton on Guevara.

Anna Jay ran out and tried to toss Ruby into the steel steps but Ruby reversed it and Anna ate the steel.  Ruby and Ortiz wiped out the champs in stereo for a near fall.  Guevera was sent to the outside.  Ortiz followed.  Soho went to the top but Melo met her with a big elbow.  Melo superplexed Ruby off the top to the outside, crashing them both down atop Ortix and Guevara.  That looked rough!

Ruby went to nail Melo but as she rebounded, Jay grabbed her leg.  That allowed Melo to nail the Tay-KO and score the pin.

Your winner and still AAA Mixed Tag Team Champions, Sammy Guevara and Tay Conti!

Everyone worked super hard here and they had some really cool spots and bumps at times.  Ruby looked to have busted her nose on the finish.

Tony and Excalibur pushed the PPV and they aired a Chris Jericho vs. Bryan Danielson video package.

FTW Champion Hook vs. Angelo Parker with Matt Menard

Action Bronson, who does Hook's entrance song, was at ringside.  He is a longtime wrestling fan and was a regular at the old Madhouse of Extreme for ECW shows back in the day.  He and Hook embraced.

Parker talked a lot of trash before the bell.  They locked up and Hook was backed into the ropes.  He reversed the lock-up into a hammerlock and took Parker down, cinching in a guillotine choke.  Parker tried to maneuver himself out but Hook snatched a side headlock.  Parker used the ropes to escape.  Menard distracted Hook, allowing Parker to gain control.  He worked over Hook and nailed him with a suplex for a two count.  Hook nailed a series of body shots to the mid-section but Parker kicked him down.  The crowd chanted for Hook, but Parker nailed a leg lariat.

Hook mounted a comeback but was kicked back down.  He caught Parker with an head and arms Tazplex.  Parker went back to the corner and tried to suplex him but Hook landed on his feet and locked in The Redrum.  Parker tapped.

Your winner and still FTW Champion, Hook!

Matt Menard attacked Hook from behind and began stomping him in the corner.  Action Bronson hopped the rail and manhandled Parker and Menard.  Since Bronson is such a big guy, it worked.  Hook and Bronson stood tall and embraced.

This was about how you'd expect it to go as they keep building Hook.  I liked the Action Bronson stuff, but I'm also a NYC guy and know who he is.

They aired a video package on CM Punk vs. Jon Moxley.

AEW All-Atlantic Champion Pac vs. Kip Sabian.

This is Sabian's first match of note in a long time so he needs to deliver here in my opinion.

Taz was at the commentary booth.

He got control over Pac early, stomping him in the ring.  He nailed a big dropkick.  They battled to the top.  Kip sent Pac to the floor and worked him over.  Pac was tossed back in the ring and Pac rolled back out to the floor.  Sabian nailed a knee strike.  Pac blocked a move and nailed a brainbuster on the floor.  Pac sent him into the guard rail.

Pac controlled him after they returned to the ring.  Sabian fired back and Pac asked for more.    Sabian finally gained control after a tornado DDT off the ropes.  He nailed a slingshot into a brainbuster for another two count.  Pac made a comeback and stomped the hell out of Sabian.  Sabian challenged him to keep doing it.  Pac did.  Pac went to the top and nailed the Black Arrow for the pin.

Your winner and still AEW All-Atlantic Champion Pac!

Solid.  Sabian had a good solid first real bout back.

Pac went to do an interview after with Tony Schiavone.  He said he was looking for competition.  Out came Orange Cassidy.  Pac told him, "No."  He said they have been here before and they know how this ended.  Cassidy is a joke, not a wrestler.  He can get to the back of the line.  Pac walked off.  Obviously, this is the start of a new storyline.

Inside the ring, Kip Sabian was yelling at the box he wears, like Al Snow used to yell at Head.

Eddie Kingston vs. Tomohiro Ishii.

Huge pop for Kingston coming out.  They locked up and neither guy got the advantage.  Ishii chopped Kingston, who pulled down his straps and challenged him to do it more.  They chopped each other back and forth, hard.  They did it so much they were exhausted at the end.  Kingston finally fired up and drove him down with a big double chop.  The place exploded.  It was pretty brutal physically.

Ishii gained control and worked Kingston over with chops and strikes. Ishii attacked Kingston's back but Eddie fired up, only to be struck back to the mat.  Ishii missed a charge in the corner and was caught with a series of chops.  Kingston nailed a DDT, scoring a two count.  Kingston fired up at Ishii, who sucked it up and absorbed it.  Ishii nailed a big shoulderblock.  Kingston missed a clothesline and was nailed with a back suplex for a two count.  They squared off and started slapping each other.

Kingston went for a move but his shoulder gave out.  Ishii went to get him but Kingston was just faking it and nailed an exploder.  Ishii came back with a stiff lariat.  They drilled each other and crashed to the mat.  Kingston nailed a lariat and drilled Ishii with a powerbomb for a close two count.  Ishii charged but ate another lariat for a two count.   Ishii nailed an enziguiri and a lariat for another two count.

Kingston nailed the spinning backfist but Ishii kicked up at the last second.  They slapped and headbutt each other.  Kingston snapped him into a Northern Lights Bomb and scored the clean pin.

Your winner, Eddie Kingston!

Kingston had them cut his music and led the crowd to show respect for Ishii.

This was the best thing on Zero Hour and felt the most like a big, physical fight.  They were really laying it in and it showed.  This puts them at 1-1 in their matches.  This was a really fun showing from each.

AEW ALL OUT 2022

Lots of pyro to start us out.

Casino Ladder Match: Andrade el Idolo vs.  ROH Champion Claudio Castagnoli vs. Dante Martin vs. Penta vs. Rey Fenix vs. Rush vs. ROH Pure Champion vs. Wheeler Yuta vs. mystery Joker competitor.

We start our with Rey Fenix and Wheeler Yuta.  That's a pretty interesting combination.  They exchanged strikes and punches.    Fenix nailed a springboard spinkick in the corner and grabbed a laddder.  He bridged it against the guard rail and teased superplexing Yuta off the top into it but Yuta shoved him off.  Fenix glancingly hit it.  Yuta nailed a tope suicida to drive him into it.

The third man to enter was Rush.  He hit the ring and drilled Wheeler with a big forearm smash.  Yuta fought back but was hit with a belly to belly suplex into a ladder.  Rush then took out Fenix.  Rush nailed a dive outside on Fenix and tossed him into the railing.

The fourth man out was Andrade el Idolo.  He and Rush showed respect for each other.  They bridged a ladder from ropes to the ladder in the middle of the ring, then another from the guard rail to the ring and slammed Fenix into it.  They climbed the ladder in unison but Yuta and Fenix returned and stopped them.  Yuta and Andrade battled atop the ladder.  Andrade hit a sunset flip powerbomb off the top of the ladder onto the bridged ladder.

The fifth man out is ROH Champion Claudio Castagnoli.  Big pop and chant for him.  The ladder in the center of the ring was moved with the bridged ladder still stuck.  Claudio turned it so it was leaning on bridged ladder with Andrade trapped on top.  Claudio used his strength to tip it so Andrade crashed over the top to the floor.  That was a cool spot.

The fifth man out was Dante Martin.  He was nailed with a ladder as soon as he hit the ring.  He springboarded to the ladder and almost made it but was stopped by Yuta.  He rebounded several times but was finally crashed to the outside with Claudio.   The crowd loved ALL of the Martin stuff.

The sixth man out was Penta.  He charged and hit a Canadian Destroyer on the ramp on Martin.  Someone call Martin's parents.  He's not coming home tonight.  Penta cleaned house and the crowd popped for it.  He nailed a Canadian Destroyer on a ladder bridged outside.  Fenix nailed a frog splash from the top, putting Rush through a table on the floor.  Chicago lost their mind.

Claudio and Yuta battled up the ladder.  Martin returned - HE'S ALIVE?! - and tried to beat them to the casino chip.  Three masked guys in hoodies attacked everyone.  One of them climbed up and removed the chip and the mask.  It was STOKELY HATHAWAY.  He removed it and was surrounded by those he had recruited in recent weeks like the Gunns, Ethan Page and W. Morrisey.  The Rollin Stones' Sympathy for the Devil played and out came the Joker, who was disguised.  He went to remove the mask and then stopped and said "No" before walking out.  Tune the Wednesday?

The winner, The Joker!

I am guessing he will be revealed to be MJF at some point.  This was an entertaining bout, but the finish obviously was anti-climactic just by the nature of what it was.  It wasn't worthy of what came before.  It was a TV angle.  Those should be on TV, not a $50 PPV in my opinion.
