BUSHI is one of NJPW’s undercard or opening match juniors that generally takes the fall. However, he is extremely quick and shows a lot of potential. Hopefully NJPW will pull the trigger on him at some point as he has a lot more to offer than just an opening match afterthought. He stands out with his holiday themed attire around Christmas and Halloween time. El Desperado The masked Desperado is a member of Suzuki-Gun and made his debut for NJPW under the El Desperado character last January at Wrestle Kingdom 8. Since then he has battled and teamed with Kota Ibushi before joining Suzuki-Gun. He usually makes his entrance through the crowd carrying a guitar. He will tag a lot with his fellow Suzuki-Gun juniors Taichi and TAKA. Watch out for his Guittarra De Angel finisher. Jushin Thunder Liger If you haven’t heard of Jushin Thunder Liger where have you been for the last 25 years? Liger is one of the most influential Japanese wrestlers of all time and a pioneer of the junior heavyweight style. He is well known by Western fans for his time in WCW in the 90’s and can still perform at a high level in NJPW as seen recently when he won the NWA junior heavyweight championship from Chase Owens in a match that shouldn’t have been as good as it was. Liger’s role in NJPW now is that of a bit part player and generally puts people over in undercard matches. However his name, legacy and the fact that he can still perform at a high level mean he can be pushed up the card at any time when needed. He usually takes part in shenanigans and interference during Suzuki-Gun matches. His matches sometimes quickly turn into brawls and Taichi will take off his pants (his version of Jerry Lawler pulling down his strap) towards the conclusion of his matches. He recently unsuccessfully challenged Ryusuke Taguchi for the IWGP junior heavyweight championship which can be seen here. TAKA Michinoku Yes, that TAKA. The one from Kaietai (indeed). TAKA is the flag bearer for Suzuki-Gun (literally). However he still competes a lot and is mostly involved in comedy matches. However he still pulls out big game performances every year in the Best of the Super Juniors. Tiger Mask IV Just like Liger, Tiger Mask is a veteran junior that mostly serves to get other over in the twilight of his career. The fourth man to dawn the Tiger Mask is the longest running and has been under the guise since 1995. He is a 6 time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion and a one time IWGP Junior Tag Champion with Liger, a man that he teams with regularly. Tiger Mask IV & Jushin Thunder Liger vs The Young Bucks – Super Jr Tag Tournament Take a look at NJPW’s veteran junior duo entering a superkick party. Watch it this link.
