NEW JAPAN PRO WRESTLING PRIMER: EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO BE PREPARED FOR TONIGHT'S PPV

Yuji Nagata

The 46 year old New Japan legend is a former two-time IWGP Heavyweight Champion and one of the company’s longest running and most beloved wrestlers. Many other wrestlers have commented on how they consider Nagata to be among the best they have ever been in the ring with.

Now taking more of a backseat role in NJPW, Nagata has proven time and time again that he is still as good as anyone as which is evident with his performances in this year’s G1 and during his run as Pro Wrestling NOAH’s GHC Heavyweight Champion.

Nagata is known for his shoot style and his stiff realistic offense. Nagata uses lots of submission variations including the crossface and cross armbreaker. His finisher is usually a backdrop hold and he will use lots of suplex variations. Even at his age, Nagata can still compete at the highest level and can keep up with many of the world’s finest who are 15-20 years his junior.
