TenCozy – Satoshi Kojima & Hiroyoshi Tenzan TenCozy are New Japan’s veteran tag team made up of legendary names Satoshi Kojima and Hiroyoshi Tenzan. They are five-time IWGP tag team champions and one-time NWA tag team champions. Tenzan on his own is a four-time IWGP heavyweight champion and a record setting eleven-time tag team champion on his own and a three-time G1 Climax winner. Kojima is a two-time IWGP heavyweight champion, six-time tag team champion, one-time G1 Climax winner and also a former NWA world heavyweight champion, as well as being a two-time All Japan Triple Crown winner. So you can see how decorated these two tenured veterans are in not only NJPW, but in Japan in general. TenCozy are still a big part of the NJPW tag team division and are never too far from the championship picture. Over the last few months they have been focused on battles over the NWA Heavyweight and Tag titles with guys like Rob Conway, Jax Dance, Davey Boy Smith, Jr and Lance Archer. TenCozy will take part in multi-man tag team matches when they’re not involved in title matches along with other babyfaces and veterans. These matches are usually openers or filler around the more important matches. Tenzan’s body in recent years has broken down and he sometimes looks like he is being held together by tape. His performances have suffered, however he shocked some people this year with his hard working performances in the G1 Climax. Kojima is still as good as anyone and could still be a top guy if needed. He is hugely respected and popular with the crowd, even today. He can still hang with the very best and have great matches with just about everyone as demonstrated in this years G1. TenCozy team with Tomoaki Honma to take on Bullet Clubs, Jeff Jarrett, Bad Luck Fale & Yujiro Takahashi at Wrestle Kingdom. What to look out for? Tenzan’s Mongolian chops always get a pop from the crowd. His finisher is generally the Anaconda Vise or a diving headbutt. On special occasions he will still pull out a flawless moonsault. Kojima’s machine gun chops in the corner are one of his signatures. His finishers are the Cozy Cutter (Ace Crusher/RKO) or his Cozy Lariat. TenCozy’s tag finisher is usually the Ten-Koji Cutter, which is the same as the 3D. Hiroyoshi Tenzan vs Hirooki Goto – G1 Climax This was Tenzan’s standout performance of the G1. A match that took many by surprise and it can be seen at this link.
