COMPLETE AEW WORLDS END PPV BLOG

By Cory Strode on 2023-12-30 18:49:00

Renee Paquette and RJ City are hosting the pre-show, and they start by going over the card for the night. We are at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Long Island, NY.

We are told Keith Lee is out due to injury and Dustin Rhodes will be taking his place against Swerve Strickland.

Jeff Jarrett joins the pre-show crew to break down each match with Renee and RJ and give predictions.

As we go into the 20 man battle royal, Renee says that World’s End is sold out. Stokely Hathaway walks down to the ring as they finish up.

Excalibur, Taz, and Nigel McGuinness are the commentary team, and Stokely is sitting in with them.

Willow Nightingale vs Kris Statlander

Stokely has been trying to set the two against each other, and both Willow and Kris are treating it like a friendly competition as the match starts. It’s going to be a power based match, and they work hold/counter hold to start. They get a lot of two counts to start off as well. Willow starts going for the Doctor Bomb, but Statlander blocks it.

As they work, each sequence builds to a slam of some kind and the two counts become more spaced out. They don’t do a lot of flashy moves, very much a back and forth with lots of blows and shoulder tackles. Statlander is able to put Willow on her shoulders for a front electric chair and Willow follows with a pounce. HIghlighting Statlander’s impressive strength is something that AEW should do more often to separate her from the other women and give her a “hook”.

After this, the near falls seem more final and with pauses after each other. Willow is able to get the Doctor Bomb for the pin and the win.

Winner:  Willow Nightingale.

Stokely says he has not been this upset since they canceled Martin. Willow and Statlander are still friends.

We then get a video of Serena Deeb escap[ing from a straightjacket explaining how she has become a master while she was gone.

Renee and RJ give another rundown of the card.

20 Man Battle Royal - The winner gets a shot at the TNT Title at any time

Everyone starts brawling once Dalton Castle and The Boys get to ringside. They bury Killswitch  and Lance Archer under tables and chairs.

Serpentico is eliminated.

Dalton Castle is eliminated.

Johnny TV is eliminated.

Lee Johnson is out next.

Angelo Parker is tossed.

Alex Reynolds is gone.

Silver is tossed.

Kip Sabian is eliminated.

Brian Keith gets a nice spotlight against Butcher and Blade before elimination.

Lance Archer is up and gets into the ring.

Archer drops everyone but Matt Menard, who gets tossed.

Christopher Daniels is eliminated.

Rocky Romero is tossed.

Killswitch enters the ring.

Darius Martin and Action Andretti are eliminated.

Blade is eliminated.

Butcher is eliminated.

Lance Archer is eliminated

Danhausen is eliminated by Trent Beretta.

We’re down to Trent and Killswitch. They are battling on the apron and lots of near falls to the floor.

Killswitch nails Trent with a back elbow and he drops to the floor.

Winner and getting a TNT Title Shot: Killswitch

We get a video package for Toni Storm vs Riho, and it’s excellent.

Hook (FTW Champion) vs Wheeler Yuta

Yuta has a mic and mocks Hook and then insults people in Long Island.

Hook starts the match with strikes and they trade punches and other blows around the ring. Yuta is the one who pulls out plunder from under the ring as we get trash cans and a two by four.

They fight up the ramp and then on the stage. Yuta makes it back to the ring and it’s time for a trash can lid. Yuta beats Hook around the ring until they get to the announce table, when Hook fires up and the fight goes into the ring.

We get back and forth brawling in the ring. They move to big finishing moves with kick outs at two. Yuta finally brings in the two by four, but Hook brings out a hockey stick, which breaks on the first use. Hook locks in Redrum with the remains of the hockey stick for the win.

Winner and still FTW Champion: Hook.
