By Mike Johnson on 2021-03-07 19:00:00

Welcome to PWInsider.com's live, ongoing coverage of All Elite Wrestling's Revolution 2021 from Jacksonville, Florida at Daily's Place!

The Buy-In

They opened with a video on tonight's show, then went right into a video package on the Street Fight featuring the return of Sting to the ring.

They then aired a video feature on the AEW Women's Championship match.

They aired a package on The Young Bucks vs. Chris Jericho and MJF.

They then recapped the history of Matt Hardy vs. Hangman Page.

They ran a feature on Jon Moxley vs. Kenny Omega for the AEW title in the Exploding Barbed Wire Match.

They went live to Daily's Place with Tony Schiavone and Excalibur.  They ran down the official lineup for the PPV, then looked at The AEW Tag Team Title bout.

They announced that Britt Baker, on her own letterhead, sent in a doctor's note that Rebel was not cleared to appear tonight.

Baker came out on the stage and said that Rebel was "brutally injured" by Nyla Rose and can't compete but her own note wasn't good enough to have her removed from the match.  She had to go to the Jaguars' doctor, who agreed with her.   Rebel came out with a crutch.  Rebel said she found the perfect replacement and partner.  Out came Maki Itoh,  surprise return from Japan.  She did her entire singing entrance.

Britt Baker & Maki Itoh vs. Thunder Rosa & Riho

Rosa and Itoh started out and have some nice sequences early.  Itoh nailed a bulldog out of the corner, which Excalibur said was "Gran Naniwa-esque."  I'll take it.  Rosa made a comeback and smashed Itoh into the buckles face-first.  She and Riho teamed on Itoh for a close two count. A little rough at times but OK so far.

Riho and Itoh battled with forearms.  Itoh missed her diving headbutt and tagged out to Baker.  Baker locked in a cravate and nailed Riho, then antagonized Rosa.    Itoh tagged in and continued the attack, sending Riho into the corner.  Riho avoided a charge in the corner and snapped Itoh on the ropes.  Riho nailed a flying bodypress for a close two count.  Riho tagged out but Rosa was taken down.  Itoh nailed her signature headbutt.   Rosa made a comeback and tagged Riho.  Everyone battled.

Itoh nailed a swinging DDT (Excalibur name checked Super Delphin!) for a close two count on Rosa.  She went to the top but missed a diving headbutt.  Riho went for a running knee strike but Itoh rolled her into a single-leg crab.  Riho fought and made it to the ropes to force the break.  They battled in the center of the ring with forearms and strikes.  Itoh nailed a headbutt but it stunned each of them.

Baker tagged in and nailed an Air Raid Crash for another two count.  Rosa nailed a kick on Britt.  Rebel got on the apron to argue with her.  Britt was sent into Rebel and hit with a DVDR but Itoh broke the pinfall up.  Riho took out Itoh.  Britt sent Rosa to the ropes, where Rebel smashed her with the crutch and Britt drilled and pinned Rosa.

Your winners, Dr. Britt Baker and Maki Itoh!

Itoh was a nice surprise given how strong she came across in the Eliminator tournament.  They all worked hard.

They aired the Exploding Barbed Wire video package.  It is crazy to see Onita on American TV.

Jim Ross joined the announcers as they went off the air.  He sounded like he has been fighting off a cold or something and his voice was hoarse.  Hope he's OK.

AEW REVOLUTION 2021

AEW Tag Team Champions The Young Bucks vs. Chris Jericho and MJF with Wardlow.

They made sure to point out Matt Jackson’s wife was in the front row, so we’ll see if that turns into an angle.

The Bucks were all over Jericho and MJF early on, beating them on the mat and on the floor with punches.  The Bucks were whipped into the guard rails and then sent into each other.   The Bucks were tossed back into the ring but hit stereo pescados to the floor.  They nailed stereo flips into the ring and locked on stereo Sharpshooters.

The Bucks speared Jericho and sent MJF to the floor.  They tagged in and out, controlling Jericho.    Nick hit a senton off the top while Matt draped Jericho off the ropes.  MJF broke up the pinfall and grabbed Nick’s leg, trapping him long enough to allow Jericho to nail a rebound dropkick off the ropes.

From this point on, Jericho picked apart Nick Jackson.  He and MJF nailed a Flapjack and took turns walking over his chest before mocking The Bucks.   Matt tagged in but was quickly controlled by the challenger, who cut the ring off and nailed a long delayed vertical suplex.  Jackson fought his way out of a side chinlock but MJF ripped him back to the mat by his hair.  MJF cinched in a front chancery but Matt tried to fight his way to Nick to make a tag.  Jericho nailed Nick to make sure he wasn’t there to take it.

Nick finally made the hot tag and rained away with kicks on everyone.  He nailed Jericho in the face with a kick, then hit a Facebuster off the ropes on MJF.  He followed up with a Canadian Destroyer for a close two count.  The Bucks trapped MJF in the corner and smashed him with a superkick for another two count.

Matt tagged in and went for a springboard kick but missed and crashed and burned in a case of a bad leap.  Jericho snatched him in the Lion Tamer.  Matt finally made the ropes but was taken out by MJF who scored several two counts.   Jericho and MJF scored several two counts including after Wardlow used the baseball bat.

Poor JR’s voice is ailing.  I feel bad for him.

Jericho and MJF worked over Nick but he avoided a charge in the corner and kicked Jericho in the head.  Matt made the tag and the Bucks nailed stereo dives, Nick on Jericho in the ring and Matt to MJF on the floor.   They nailed a series of superkicks on MJF, dispatching him to the floor.  They set up for the Meltzer Driver and nailed it on Jericho for the pin.

Your winners and still AEW Tag Team Champions, The Young Bucks!

A good, entertaining first match.  The Bucks had to fight to win this one.  Jericho and MJF as smarmy, a-hole heels have really hit a nice rhythm.  There was almost way too much going on for me to recap but it was damn good.

The announcers recapped the scheduled lineup.

Casino Tag Team Royale featuring Private Party, Ortiz & Santana, Pac & Rey Fenix, Alex Reynolds & John Silver, Top Fight, Evil Uno & Stu Grayson, Bear Country, The Butcher and The Blade, Varsity Blonds (Brian Pillman Jr. and Griff Garrison, 10 & Allan ‘5’ Angels, Peter Avalon & Cezar Bononi, Mike & Matt Sydal, SCU, Austin & Colten Gunn, Dustin Rhodes & QT Marshall, Jurassic Express' Luchasaurus & Jungle Boy - Winners earn AEW Tag Team Championship Match.

The first competitors were Dustin and QT and 10 and Angels.  They shook hands, then threw down.  They battled.  Santana and Ortiz are next.  Angels was tossed.  Matt and Mike Sydal were next out.  The fifth team was Stu Grayson and Evil Uno.  Austin and Colten Gunn were sixth.  Santana looked good firing away with kicks on the Dark Order after they worked over Ortiz.

Avalon and Bononi were next.  This was the PPV debut for Bononi.  The Varsity Blonds were next.  Gunn nailed Famousers.  QT helped to toss The Gunn Club over, which Dustin Rhodes wasn't happy with.  QT eliminated himself and spit at Rhodes, walking out.  Bear Country, who appear to be signed here, were next.  They tossed Stu Grayson.  Jurassic Express was next.  Luchasaurus eliminated Bononi with a clothesline over the top.  Santana and Ortiz were then tossed.  Uno was tossed to the apron.  Marko Stunt knocked him off with a rana.

Next out was Butcher and The Blade.  Ten was tossed over the top to the floor.  Jack Evans pulled him off the apron.  Evans came out of nowhere.  Dustin was sent off the top to the apron.  Bunny pulled him off, eliminating him.  Private Party was next.  They double teamed Jungle Boy.  SCU was next.  Luchasaurus went for a double clothesline but Bear Country tossed him.  Butcher knocked them over the top to the floor.  Next out was PAC and Rey Fenix.

Alex Reynolds and John Silver were next.  As someone who has followed them from their rookie days, it did my heart good to hear the pop these two received.    They nailed the Dark Destroyer on Kassidy and tossed him.  Jungle Boy was left alone with SCU, Death Triangle and Dark Order.  Fenix used some lucha magic on Daniels to eliminate him.  Reynolds and Jungle Boy went over the top to the apron and kept fighting.  Reynolds was jettisoned into the ring post and crashed to the floor.  Kazarian was tossed.

PAC and Silver went at it and it was damn good stuff.  Silver ate a snap back suplex.  Fenix walked the ropes and kicked Silver over with a kick to the floor.  They gave Silver a nice rub here.  Jungle Boy against Death Triangle.  Jungle Boy dropped down as PAC charged and PAC was eliminated.  It's down to Jungle Boy and Rey Fenix.  Boy was sent through the ropes.  Fenix hit a tope con hilo between the ropes, wiping out Jungle Boy and the entire front row.

They returned to the ring where Jungle Boy nailed a series of ot moves including a Poison rana but Fenix clotheslined him over the top to the floor.

Your winners, earning a future AEW Tag Team Championship match, Rey Fenix & PAC!

There was so much going on at times, it was hard to keep an eye on anything.  At other points, there were some fun sequences.  The final few minutes were a lot of fun but this was LOOOONG.

Backstage, Dasha wanted to ask Paul Wight who was signing tonight.  He said that the only person who knows beyond him is Tony Khan and the talent.  He said he doesn't think "anyone can out-work them" and walked into the locker room.

They showed Al Snow, DDP and actor Paul Hauser in the crowd.
