Valkyrie Women’s Wrestling will debut in New Jersey tonight at the Woodbury Heights Community Center with champion Kacee Carlisle making her first title defense against Mistress Belmont, who works a lot of the New England independents, plus Renee Michelle, La Rosa Negra (former regular with WWC in Puerto Rico), Sumie Sakai, and Jessie Brooks among others. Julius Smokes, who managed Homicide in ROH and is a hell of a talker and a very underrated worker, is managing Brooks here.
Former WWE star Nick “Eugene” Dinsmore, The Patriot (Tom Brandi) and Sonjay Dutt vs. Joey Janella will headline tonight’s Superstars of Wrestling event in Avenel, NJ at St Andrew's Knights of Columbus. Others appearing are Damien Darling, Sir Christopher Michaels (is this the same guy who worked for Tommy Dee in the 1990s If so, how long before Surfer Ray Odyssey pops up?), Lowlife Louie Ramos and more. This is the promotion that replaced the NWS promotion after promoter Johnny Dapper left the business.
New Japan’s Koji Kanemoto will be working for 4FW in England this weekend. Tonight he’ll be in Portishead, facing Tiger Ali. Tomorrow, he will be challenging champion Doug Williams in Ken tomorrow 1/24. Scott Steiner will be headlining for Old School Wrestling in Odessa, Texas on 1/24 at Hood Jr. High School.
Excellence Pro will be running in Sellersville, PA at the Forest Lodge VFW on 1/24 with quite a few CHIKARA regulars including Gran Akuma, Worker Ant and Missile Assault Ant. The Ants are facing off in singles competition. Lucky Thurnteen from CZW, Orange Cassidy, Smiley (Amazing Red student from NY), Blind Rage and more will be appearing as well. There’s a women’s bout featuring Miss Diss Lexia (love the name) vs. Deonna Purrazzo
Severe Attitude Wrestling will be running a Fundraiser for RIP, a local independent wrestler who was injured on 1/24 with all tickets $8 at the Boys & Girls Club in Maryville, Tennessee headlined by SAW champion Shane Daniels vs. Travis Sawyer.
Warriors of Wrestling will run Staten Island, NY at the Funstation with “Eugene” Nick Dinsmore appearing on 1/24. Dan Maff is working here as part of a tag team titled The Puerto Rican Hate Club.
Former NWA World champion Dory Funk Jr. and Wes Briscoe are headlining for Funk’s !Bang! promotion in Ocala, FL on 1/24. The show will main event with Funk, Brisco and Johnny Magnum vs. Dalton Drellich, Shane Chung and Gabe Zilla.
Primal Conflict Wrestling is running 1/24 in Harper Ferry, West Virginia at the KOA (I’ve never been to pro wrestling at a campground) headlined by Bob Holly & Sonjay Dutt & Nui Tofiga vs. Black Wallstreet (regulars with Maryland Championship Wrestling, a great act). Jimmy Cicero is working the undercard. Dutt is a last second addition as Dirty Money is off the show due to a death in the family. Our deepest condolences to him and his family on their loss.
Bill Dundee is scheduled for the 1/24 OWO event at The East Amory Community Center in Amory, Mississippi.
Nicole Matthews of SHIMMER fan is working the 1/24 DOA Wrestling event in Portland, Oregon on 1/24 at the East Portland Moose Lodge.
Hoosier Pro Wrestling returns to their home at the HPW Arena in Columbus, Indiana on 1/24 with LuFisto in, facing Lylah Lodge. The show will be headlined by Flash Flanagan vs. Rob Ramer with two referees for the HPW championship. Butcher Manson, a Nick Dinsmore and Rip Rogers trainee from the OVW school, is working the undercard.
Old Time Wrestling will be running 1/24 at the Monroe Business Center, Building C Suite 1 in Williamstown, NJ on 1/24 with Mean Streak (Evil Eddie Hawkins & Justin Pusser) vs. Jimmy Lloyd & Steve Sanders with former ECW referee Jim Molineaux as the guest referee.
Australia’s Professional Championship Wrestling has an Australia vs. The World theme for their 1/25 event at the Slam Academy in Victoria featuring a flag match with Trikki (Australia) vs. Andrew Titan (United States), a Strap Match featuring Cass Stone (Australia & New Zealand) vs. Tome Filip (Macedonia), a Cricket Bat On A Pole Match with Nate Cross (Australia) vs. Mark Kage (England) and BriKazi (Australia & England) vs. Apocalypse & Maverick (Scotland) announced.
Tommy Dreamer and Tito Santana are working for Kevin Knight’s IWF in Nutley, NJ at the Nutley Parks & Rec Center. IWF, which is where WWE’s Darren Young first trained, is running biweekly events at their school, also in Nutley, with the next show on 1/31 featuring IWF Heavyweight Champion Fifth Element Roman Zachary vs. Kevin Knight in a No DQ bout.
