AAW: Professional Wrestling Redefined will be running Merrionette, Park, IL tonight with a pretty loaded lineup featuring AAW champion Eddie Kingston vs. Josh Alexander in a Streetfight, TNA’s DJ Zema Ion vs. Ethan Page, former WWE, WCW and TNA star Shannon Moore’s debut, Davey Vega vs. Louis Lyndon, Zero Gravity vs. The Hooligans in a Double Dog Collar Match, AAW Tag Team champions Markus Crane & Dan Lawrence vs. Ryan Boz and a partner of his choosing and more. For those of you with Roku devices, the promotion’s weekly TV can be watched (with all the episodes archives) at the MaddyGTV channel. The latest episode features Colt Cabana & Dick Justice vs. Gregory Iron & Benjamin Boone and Zero Gravity vs. The Hooligans. The promotion has actually announced all of their dates through December.
Danny Duggan’s Canadian Wrestling Elite celebrated their sixth anniversary with six events over the last few weeks in the Manitoba area of Canada. Scott Steiner and Jimmy Jacobs were in for the run, which began 1/13 in Yorkton and closed out on 1/18 in Gladstone. I can’t remember the last time I heard of an independent group running six shows in six days. They did a back and forth TV title switch as Steiner won the belt on 1/16, beating Tyler Colton before losing it back to Colton on the last night of the tour. Jimmy Jacobs captured the CWE championship from Duggan on 1/16 and retained it through the end of the tour. Chase Owens, who recently wrestled Jushin Liger in New Japan was also on the loop. CWE has weekly TV on Fridays at 9:30 PM on Bell ExpressVu Channel 592 and locally in Manitoba on MTS Channel 30. They are running 1/30 in Manitoba at their home venue of Rookie's Sports Bar and have already announced a 4/25 date in Steinbach, Manitoba at the Steinbach Legion Community Hall with Christopher Daniels appearing in what is billed as the first wrestling show in that area in ten years.
Scott D’Amore’s Border City Wrestling ran a show titled “Campus Combat” on 1/20 at the CAW Student Centre at the University of Windsor featuring Rhino defeating John E. Bravo (love the name), The show was headlined by BCW Can-Am Heavyweight champion Jon Bolen beating former TNA star Cody Deaner in the main event. TNA’s The Great Sanada teamed with A-1 to defeat All Japan’s Joe Doering and Joe Coleman, who were managed by Taeler Hendrix. Tyson Dux, N8 Mattson and Kongo Kong worked as well.
Chavo Guerrero and Blue Demon Jr. are being advertised for a 4/25 event at the ELMCOR Center in Elmhurst, NY being promoted by Joel Maximo’s Fighting Spirit Wrestling. The show is being billed as honoring the art and culture of Lucha Libre. Former ECW World champion Jerry Lynn is also being advertised for the show. He'll be working as a guest referee.
Rockstar Pro Wrestling will return to Dayton, Ohio with a Third Anniversary show on 2/6 headlined by an ultraviolent Island of Death match featuring Rockstar Pro champion Jake Crist captaining a 5-man team against DJ Hyde's own team in an elimination tag match with the ring surrounded by barbed wire. If Hyde’s team wins, he will be the new champion., where the ring will be surrounded by barbwire! If Team Hyde wins, DJ Hyde becomes Rockstar Pro Champion. The show will be broadcast as an iPPV live.
NWA champion Rob Conway vs. NWA Southern All-Star Wrestling champion Arrick “The Dragon” Andrews and Bill Dundee vs. Tracy Smothers in a Legend’s bout will headline the NWA Southern All-Star Wrestling event on 2/6, which is the promotion’s eighth anniversary show at the SAW Mill Arena in Millersville, TN. Also on the show is Jeremiah Plunkett vs. Drew Haskins in a battle of former tag team partners, Crazy Mary Dobson vs. Jordynne Grace and NWA SAW Southern Tag Team champions, Hammerjack and Kevin Weatherby.
In Your Face Wrestling ran 1/17 at the Duanesburg Area Community Center in Delanson, NY, headlined by Drake Evans beating IYFW champion Roman Dominguez by DQ. Jeff Jarrett, Stevie Richards, Drew Galloway/McIntyre and Monstrous BC (Brodus Clay) are all scheduled for the promotion’s 3/14 return.
Right Coast Pro ran 1/17 in Newark, Delaware featuring Jim Kettner-era ECWA alumni on the show including Mozart Fontaine and Corageous Cruz. The show was headlined by Cruz & Sean Royal defeating The Monarchy, William King III & Zachary Beaulieu. They are next running 3/7.
