The Bad Blood PPV opened with Samantha Irvin singing. She did well.
They did an open that had a mix of comic books and an open of a TV show. More Lee Fitting stuff.
Then we saw HHH and Cody meeting confidentially back in July. HHH sent Cody on a recon assignment with Metro to scout Atlanta for the PLE. It was a different way to show video recaps as to why we are here.
Triple H is here and he has an announcement tonight.
Cody showed up with Metro in an older Ford Crown Vic.
Samantha introduced our hosts, Bianca Belair, Jade Cargill and Naomi. They told us we are opening with:
CM Punk vs. Drew McIntyre inside Hell In A Cell.
As the cage lowered the fans were chanting for Punk. The Cell is always amazing.
Michael Cole is with Corey Graves. Cole told us that there are 16,092 in attendance.
Drew is out first. He got a loud mixed reaction. Even those that boo him know how great he is. He has some cool arm armor on.
The fans are fired up for this.
Bill and Gage Goldberg are ringside. Killer Mike is sitting next to him. Very cool.
Punk's music played and the pop was LOUD. Cole mentioned Punk is 2-2 in the Cell and he has done one in Atlanta before, beating Ryback over a decade ago.
The bell rang and they faced off. Drew talked down to Punk and then threw hands. Punk is firing back. This feels like a fight, like a real fight. Drew is mostly in control early.
Fans are chanting for tables early. They are IN A CELL? WTF people!
Then Punk went under the ring and got one and put it in the ring. He then got a chair but Drew took it from him and then went back to work on him on the steps.
Drew got a toolbox and tried to use a wrench but Punk got it and gored Drew in the head. Fans are chanting his name. Drew didn't blade, I figured he would there.
Drew ripped the legs from the table and tried to use them on Punk but missed and now Punk is using it on Drew, choking him. This is stiff, they will feel this one later.
Punk threw Drew on the bottom side of the table, on what was left of the legs, twice. Punk tried to take out Drew's eye with the table leg but Mac got away.
Punk tried to hit GTS on the floor but Drew got a Claymore instead.
Drew just lawn darted Punk into the cage. Ouch. Punk is busted open. I don't like the blade but if ever a match called for it, it's this one.
Drew bashed Punk in the head with the ring steps. He is crushing him on the floor. He just told Punk his wife would leave him.
Now Drew is using the wrench, on the wound on Punk's head.
Drew got another table and threw it in the ring. Punk is selling the beating.
Drew's back is beat up. Punk came out of nowhere with a high knee. He hit an axe handle from the top. Punk went back up to the top and tried to use the wrench on Drew but ate a suplex instead. The fans are chanting that it's awesome.
Drew kipped up and set up for the Claymore. Punk rolled out of the ring so he didn't eat it.
Drew went to use the wrench on him but Punk hit him in the head with the toolbox. Drew is bleeding like a pig as well. Corey just mentioned the Muta scale. Punk hit two big shots to the head with toolbox and then three running knees to the head, then a bulldog. He calls for the GTS. Drew powers out but gets caught and eats it anyway. Like Punk earlier, Drew rolled to the floor.
Back in the ring Drew hit a Claymore out of nowhere but Punk kicked out at 2. The fans are chanting for Punk. Cole just said it's not a match, it's a fight. He's right.
Punk managed to lock on The Sharpshooter. Drew got a wrench and hit Punk with it to get the break. He then used the wrench on Punk's face again.
Somehow they got to their feet and now they are trading blows. Punk hit a wheel kick that knocked both men down. The fans are chanting that it's awesome.
Drew just did a suplex-slam combo from the apron through the table on the floor. DAMN!
I have said for the last month or so that after this one is over, both guys should take some time off to sell the brutality of the match. They definitely should after seeing this.
Punk is selling like he's dead at the table. Drew is trying to get the ring steps in the ring. He's selling like his back is shot. Hell, maybe it is. Punk got to his feet and Drew rolled him in the ring.
Both got up and Punk hit a GTS, but only got a two.
Drew got up and hit White Noise on Punk, on the ring steps but Punk kicked out at two. These guys are tearing it up and they are selling everything so it looks like it means something. They are killing it.
Drew went to slam Punk but got slipped into the Anaconda Vice. Drew went to use the wrench but Punk grabbed it and beat the shit out of Drew this time.
Drew was begging Punk and then nailed him in the nuts. Drew got a bag. He dumped bracelet beads all over Punk. He went for the Claymore but Punk moved and Drew landed back-first on the steps.
Punk wrapped a chain around his knee. You know what's coming. Punk got a handful of beads, shoved them in Drew's mouth and hit the GTS, 1-2-3!
After Punk left the ring, he slammed the door. He took a few more steps and fell down. EMTs came out to help. He went down again. They gave him oxygen for a few seconds. He got up, asked for his wife and made his way to the back, all while Drew was trying to get up in the ring.
This match was brutal in its abuse. These guys will feel it for a while.
I never like the blade being used but I expected it so it didn't bug me as much as it does when l don't. These guys had to go to war given everything that had led us to this point, and they did.
As I just said to a friend, this was two of the best doing what they are great at doing. It was an amazing story that culminated in an amazing match. Good luck following that.
