Miz, with R Truth, announced that Cleveland has set an all time SummerSlam attendance record of 57,791.
Grayson Waller and Austin Theory came out and ragged on Cleveland. They said the fans looked like Jelly Roll. Waller ripped on the other guy. Truth said we are in the home of the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame. Truth thought that they were The Rock And Roll Express. Roll hit a chairshot and then a uranage on Theory. Then he, Miz and Roll hit the Five Knuckle Shuffle on Theory. Fun moment.
Four weeks from tonight, Bash In Berlin. Gunther gets to be the man in front of his people.
Time for our main event. Solo Sikoa will try and take the Title from Cody Rhodes. This is Bloodline Rules. That means anything goes and we should see a lot of people. Obviously, Tama Tonga, Tonga Loa and Jacob Fatu. Maybe The Rock? Mom is there. On the other side? Randy Orton? KO? Jimmy Uso? Jey Uso? And of course, the real Tribal Chief? Let's go!
Solo is out first.
Cody came out of his bus and a handler was there with his dog Pharaoh. Awesome. Cody took his pup and head to the ring. Cody then saw ARN ANDERSON! He gave Cody a pep talk (and got the crowd count wrong).
Arn told Cody he still has friends and a couple that you know about are on the way. What about the ones he doesn't know about? This presentation is awesome. The crowd is cheering his name before he even gets to Gorilla. He put on his Nightmare mask and out he comes. Almost 60,000 are singing his song. It's on!
Cody took his time getting to the ring and it dawned on my I have been on the Peacock feed for almost six and a half hours and it seems like a minute. That's great booking for you.
Before the bell, Cody kissed his belt while Solo kissed his beads.
The crowd does not f'n like Solo. They also want Roman. You don't always give the people what they want, but tonight they should.
They are taking their time early on. We know that there is a lot coming.
Cody hit a tope to the floor after a Disaster Kick, He went for another but Solo stopped him and took control for a bit.
It went back and forth after that with Solo holding the advantage. He got some near falls but the champ kept kicking out. Solo looks really good here. For someone so new to the business he really gets it.
Solo worked over Cody and talked smack while doing it. The fans don't appreciate it. Cody made a comeback and did a move that I have only seen Terry Funk do from the top. That's great company.
But. Solo came back. No visitors yet and we have been going a while.
Cody found some life and did a superplex. Both men are down because they are selling, you know like the business is supposed to be.
They are up and both men are throwing hands in the middle of the ring. Cody hit Crossroads and out came Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa. Fans are chanting YEET! But they destroyed Cody and put Solo on him but Cody kicked out at two.
Here comes KO! It's heating up now! Fans are chanting for Randy as KO goes down and here he comes.
Randy is cleaning house but we haven't seen Jacob yet. The faces are working over Solo. Cody hit sa Crossroads, Solo got the shoulder up.
KO and Randy have left to chase the Guerillas do it's back to one on one, at least until Jacob arrives. Cody got the steps and blasted Solo with them. He yelled for Solo to go down. Solo wouldn't so he tried a third time but Solo speared him and got a two count.
Solo is up and is setting up the stairs in the corner. He put Cody in front of them and went for the flying butt attack but Cody moved. Solo slammed hard into the steps. Before Cody could get the win Jacob Fatu arrived. Fans are chanting Yeet.
Jacob destroyed Cody for his Chief but Cody kicked out at two. Jacob is going to work on Cody now. He is clearing the announce table. Corey ran for his life. Solo is telling Jacob to trash him. He set him on the announce table and Jacob splashed him through the table, Fatu is either selling his leg or he's hurt. Looks like selling. He told Solo to finish it but Cody kicked out at two. Solo went for the spike when Cody hit a Cutter. With both men down, Roman Reign's music hit. Here he com,es. What will he do?
Cole just asked the same thing. Why is he here? Corey says Cody. Pat says Solo.
Roman hit Solo with a Superman. If there was a roof in Cleveland it would have blown off. He followed with a Spear. He then looked at Cody. He turned and walked away. Cody had a WTF look on his face. Cody powered up and hit Crossroads. 1-2-3. Cody retains. He stared at Roman while Roman stared at him. AWESOME STUFF. This is why I watch. Stories matter. Characters matter. What's next MATTERS!
The fans chanted Thank You Roman as Cody looked and Roman and he nodded in acknowledgment. I bet you can't wait for Smackdown on Friday. i know I can't.
