Damien Priest defends against Drew McIntrye.
The challenger is out first, with a bagpipe band playing him to the ring. Big pop from the fans when they ended. Then Drew came out and the fans roared. They are breaking 100 on the decibel meter. Drew got a Scottish flag, raised it and ROARED. Cole said that Drew has a K on his wrist for his wife, who is back in the States. Cole wished her to get well. I second that. Godspeed.
Drew kept getting massive pops. I still have the feeling that CM Punk gets involved. If that is the case, it will be interesting to see how it plays out.
Priest got booed the second his music played. He has to love it. The fans are chanting DREW MCINTYRE over Priest's music and I can clearly hear them. Damn.
They are facing off as the great Samantha Irvin does the intros. The fans love Drew. Priest, not so much.
Wade just said that if Drew wins tonight, he's British. If he loses, he's Scottish.
The bell rings and the crowd is LIT!
Drew starts hot by plastering Priest on the floor. The champ came back and threw Drew into the barricade. And now they are back in the ring. It's pretty even early on, lots of good back and forth, with some near falls.
Priest took a powder to the floor and Drew chased. He rammed him into the announce table and then into the Prime station. The crowd wants Drew to F him up.
Priest got NASTILY caught in the ropes trying to fly to the floor. Drew grabbed his leg right away, as it was caught in the ropes, and I am guessing that Priest told him he was OK because he Drew throw some shots. That was ugly looking. If Priest is OK he's lucky. He is throwing bombs like he is OK. Damn, he got SOOOOO lucky there.
With him and Jade both slipping, plus all the sweat I am seeing on wrestlers, it has to be really muggy in there. That was scary.
Drew went for White Noise on the ropes but Priest countered with a Razor's Edge. I still can't believe he is moving as well as he is.
They are on their knees throwing hands. Now they are standing up doing it. This is great stuff. Big dudes throwing bombs.
Priest just did a jumping kick. He's gotta at least be kind of OK.
Both men were down but Drew kipped up. He is ready for the Claymore but Priest rolled to the floor. Drew followed and did a Claymore through the barricade! He brought Priest in and went for the Claymore but Priest caught him in a chokeslam. TWO COUNT ONLY! This is great. The fans agree, they are chanting it's awesome. It sure as hell is.
Priest is starting to sell the right leg and yet he hit a Rana from the top! But Drew hit a Claymore out of nowhere and got a two. Drew is shocked. Man, wrestling is so great when the talents sell. It adds so much.
With the crowd singing his name Drew is up first. Drew with a toss. They went to the corner but the ref moved. Then he got hit and flew into the barricade. Drew hit a Claymore but there is no ref. He had it. Another ref came down and counted to two, then stopped. It's CM PUNK!
They face off. Drew went after him and Punk kicked Drew in the balls. He is getting booed, as you would expect here. Priest got up and hit South Of Heaven. 1-2-3. Priest retains. Punk found some of his fans in the crowd and they hugged him.
That match was AWESOME. They both kicked ass. The finish was so well done. You didn't know it was Punk due to the amazing camera shots that they did. It looks like we get Punk vs. Drew at SummerSlam. Obviously, WWE probably would have rather have had this show anywhere but Scotland since the fans would have lost their minds anywhere else for Punk screwing Drew over but hey, you have to run the shows where you have them.
Again, this was a great match, a battle of stud heavyweights. Great show!
