Before the main event, BOOKER OF THE YEAR Paul Levesque came out and addressed the crowd. Huge pop and chant of HHH.
He said he wanted to come out and say thank you on behalf of WWE and the wrestlers for inviting us to Perth and being great hosts. He said that the attendance was 52,590. That got pyro and fireworks as well.
Nia is out first. If you need me to tell you the reaction, come on already!
The crowd was sooooo ready for Rhea so they made them wait a few seconds. When she came out, deafening. What a great moment for her. He vest was Aussified for the occasion. They showed a young girl crying in the crowd. Wow!
Rhea come out strong but the challenger quickly took over. The fans are chanting F*** You Nia. Ouch.
Nia was in control with Rhea doing occasional hope spots when the champ came back. She got a two off of a missile dropkick. Rhea hit two clotheslines but got caught with a Samoan Drop. Nia missed a leg drop and Rhea came back with a dropkick. She went to the top but Nia caught her. Nia hit a Samoan Drop from the second rope, two count only.
Nia got to the second rope when Rhea got under her and dumped her face first on the turnbuckle. Rhea went to the top and paid homage to Eddy Guerrero then his a frog splash for a two count. Rhea went for Riptide, which was a mistake and Nia dumper her outside. Nia was on the apron and Rhea tripped her. It looked like Nia took a stiff bump. Nia went to the announce table but Rhea blocked her and dropped Rhea on the table (and the tablets, which looked stiff. She then blasted Rhea through the table and the crowd is not happy. Nia took Rhea back in the ring and hit the Annihilator but only got a two.
Nia continued to abuse the champion. She went to the ropes but Rhea pushed her over the top. Nia was on the apron and Rhea tried to get her up but couldn’t. Nia went to the top rope but Rhea met her and hit the Superplex. Mom and Dad are happy. The crowd is chanting Rhea. Kick to the face, RIPTIDE! Rhea retains. Perth is happy. So is Rhea, who took it in after the match as fireworks exploded over Perth.
The announcers made a point to say that we just may have seen Nia’s best match of her career and I agree with them. Strong main event to end a great show.
