Good morning everyone in the United States and hello to the rest of the world!
Welcome to my live, ongoing WWE Eliminationn Chamber: Perth blog!
We open with the Women's Chamber bout.
The stadium looks insanely packed. Remember when there was a report there were only 7000 tickets sold? Yeah. I'd say there are a LOT more than that here. All the long shots of the stadium looked great. The show looks massive.
Becky Lynch and Naomi start us out. They are making a big deal of Lynch entering the Chamber for the first time. They go back and forth battling. The first competitor released is Tiffany Stratton. The crowd had been chanting for her before that. Stratton looked like she belonged. Poise and timing was great. Liv was the second competitor released and began wrecking Stratton, throwing her into the pods.
Liv controlled the ring, taking out Becky and Naomi. Becky hit an exploder into the structure on Stratton and locked an armbar through the cage but the pinfalls and submissions only happen in the ring. Naomi hit a Blockbuster on Liv but Stratton pulled her into a rollup and stole a pin. Naomi the first out - I didn't see that coming that soon.
Raquel was next out, using her power to control the flow. She nailed a fall away slam over the ropes into the ring on Becky. Tiffany went for a move but was caught and flung into the cage. The other three all aligned to try and take out Raquel but she kicked out of a triple pinfall attempt. The crowd chanted BS at that, not buying it.
Bianca Belair was the final competitor released. She hit a big delayed suplex on Lynch. She took out Tiffy and faced off with Raquel, which the announcers pushed as a showdown of the most powerful women in the company. Raquel tried to suplex Bianca into the cage but Bianca pushed off the cage, then rebounded off the ropes and reversed the move into a DDT. Thatb was a great sequence.
Stratton attacked before they could continue the battle. Liv climbed atop a pod and nailed an insane seated senton on Raquel. Becky and Tiffany battled atp a pod. Nothing good can come from this! Lynch was tossed off, crashing into others below. Stratton is insane. She just hit a swanton off the top of the pod to everyone below.
This left Liv and Stratton battling back and forth in the ring. Morgan drilled Stratton off the ropes into the ring and pinned her. Stratton's performance was so great, the crowd booed the babyface pinning her and even chanted BS. Stratton was absolutely awesome here.
Bianca was powerbombed into the ring after being smashed into the cage and bumped up, over and back down again. That was great.
Becky tried to use the armbar on Raquel but Rodriguez powered up. Liv tried to help but was slammed down at the same time. Raquel was caught with the KOD by Becky and pinned. Rodriguez had a good showing.
We are down to three!
Becky was pressed by Bianca and slammed down onto Liv. She is scoring near falls on each. They end up battling outside the ring. Morgan drilled Bianca into a pod. Becky mauled her, smashing Liv into the cage over and over. Lynch naled down with inverted DDTs at the same time.
Belair caught Lynch on the top and tossed her into the ring. She rained down with punches. Liv attacked both with punches and kicks.
Bianca went for a 450 splash but Becky pulled her knees up. It looked BRUTAL.
Bianca went for a KOD on Liv, who turned it into a Jawbreaker. Liv nailed Codebreaker on Lynch. Liv rolled up Bianca and scored the pin but was immediately nailed by Lynch and pinned.
BECKY VS. RHEA at Mania!
This was a really good Chamber match with a some truly great performances. Everyone really worked their asses off and this felt like a fight. Everyone involved should be really proud and honestly, the only disappointing part was seeing Naomi out so early. The big story was that Stratton came out of the gates here looking like every bit the star. There are time when call-ups get lost in the transition. That doesn't look to be the case for her. Becky winning wasn't a major surprise but it was the right, logical move to give Wrestlemania another attraction.
Becky climbed up and celebrated rocking the chains. Great visual.
Hell of a way to open this show up. That was worth getting up early on three hours of sleep for.
