Kyle Davis brings out Pope. He said last night was a reflection of Pope's life recently. He gets knocked down but ALWAYS gets back. We're reminded that Pope still has a title shot in his back pocket from The Champions Series last year.
NWA National Championship: Anthony Mayweather (Champion) vs. Jax Dane
Last time we saw these two was in a steel cage when Dane doused a bloodied Mayweather with Rubbing Alcohol in one of the more unique moves you'll ever see. It was only 33 days ago that Mayweather became National Champion. These 2 guys don't want to wait. After the bloody cage match, I HOPE we don't get a series of double wristlocks. These guys need to fight, championship or no championship and, so far, we've got a fight. This is no catch as catch can classic. Dane applies a 1/2 crab, possibly the 1st wrestling move of the match. Understandable as he's the challenger here. He wants to win that belt to further humiliate his former partner. Dane "falls into" referee Robert King, knocking Mayweather off the top rope. Mayweather shoves him off and hits a perfect elbow drop off the top rope but clutches the knee. He tries a DVD but the knee can't hold Dane.
Dane pulls off the knee pad and asks Mayweather if he wants to continue. Dane showboats and Mayweather floats him over into a cross armbreaker. Dane taps.
WINNER AND STILL NATIONAL CHAMPION: ANTHONY MAYWEATHER
Mayweather, bad knee and all, gets assistance to the back. Dane has an odd smirk on his face, somewhat happy with the damage he's caused. Dane with an attack on Mayweather as he's being helped to the back. Dane slams his head into the steps and traps Mayweather's leg in the apron. Dane assaults the bad knee with the spare turnbuckle under the ring, a very popular weapon as of late.
Mayweather announces he's cashing in his Champions Series Title Match
NWA National Champion Anthony Mayweather vs. Jax Dane
Running clothesline by Dane and he scores the pin.
WINNER AND NEW NATIONAL CHAMPION JAX DANE
Great storytelling here and finally paying off Dane's win in the 2021 Champions Series. The new champion poses with the National Belt on stage.
For the record, Pope and Velvet Sky still have a championship match in their back pocket. Sky, as Captain, can assign her shot to anyone.
NWA Women's World Tag Team Championship: The Hex, Marti Belle and Allysin Kay (Champions) vs, Kenzie Paige & Ella Envy
The NWA made an outstanding call with Belle and Kay as inaugural champions. They've legitimately been traveling around as champions, just returning to Stateside. Not going to lie here, I've never seen Ella Envy. I know nothing about her. Belle has really come into her own since the beginning of the Powerrr era, as she was initially subserviant to Melina in storyline. Come think of it, where is Melina this weekend? What I like about the challengers is that they're coordinated in their outfits and they resemble each other, so they're able to use that twin magic. They're definitely not being presented as sacrificial lambs here. This is a heck of a good matchup. A little miscommuication by the challengers leads to a hot tag to Kay. They nail Hex marks the spot for the pin.
WINNERS AND STILL NWA WORLD WOMEN'S TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS: THE HEX
NWA Jr. Heavyweight Championship Fatal Four Way for the inaugural champion of the Powerrr era: Darius Lockhart vs. Homicide vs. Colby Corino vs. Austin Aries
This one is a total toss up to me. Aroes is an all around great wrestler, Homicide is a legend, Corino has been so solid of late and Lockhart is a wild card. The new belt is a tribute to the 1963 NWA World Heavyweight Title Belt. Ken Benelon and Buddy Rogers have been honored with their initials on side plates, one being the inaugural Jr. Heavyweight Champion and Rogers being an NWA legend who wrestled at 225 lbs, the Jr Heavyweight weight limit in the NWA. Homicide has a FREE CAIN T shirt on tonight. I can hear a Jim Cornette rant on Aries in my head as I type this. I, for one and tonight, only care about what he does in the ring right here, I gotta say, that belt is gorgeous. Corino is a jerk, and I say that in the most complimentary way imaginable. DAMN Aries just nailed Lockhart with a hard tope, he and Homicide are playing a game of "can you top this".
Funny thing here is: none of these 4 guys are Jr. Heavyweights in the flippy sense, these guys are flat out wrestlers who can leave their feet when they need to but it's not the essence of their existence. Corino finally gets his shot with Aires while Homicide and Lockhart battle on the floor. Aries nails Lockhart with a great anklesmash/belly to back suplex. Aries ALMOST gets the 3 with a brainbuster, Homicide stopped it just in time. Aries escaped the Copkiller but Homicide hit the cutter. Homicide then puts Corino away with the Copkiller.
WINNER AND NEW NWA JR HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION: HOMICIDE
Kyle Davis brings out former NWA Champion Trevor Murdoch. He is not happy that he wasn't cleared to compete. He is even angrier that Nick Aldis stepped over him to claim a title shot, as he said "while the blood was still flowing from by body". Murdoch is furious that he's not in the title picture and even angrier that Matt Cardona disrespected him since winning the NWA Championship. Murdoch points out that Cardona was cheered when he won the title. I can't help but think we might see Murdoch later tonight. Great intensity by the former World Champion.
NWA World Women's Championship: Kamille (Champion) vs. Kylie Rae vs. Chelsea Green
Kamille has been great as champion, completely dominant. But tonight, she needs not be involved in the decision to lose the Burke. I have to think she's leaving Nashville with that belt firmly in her grasp. Rae wants friendship and camaraderie but, not surprisingly, none is forthcoming. We are reminded that Kamille has beaten both of her challengers in seperate matches during the course of her title reign. Kamille and Green have absolute, undeniable star power and Rae is so damn likable. Kamille with a HUGE pump kick to Rae, who may need to eat with a straw for a few weeks after that. Green with a double elbow to her opponents, she scores a 2 count. Green with a hard curb stomp into the bottom turnbuckle on the champ for 2. She turns her attention to Rae into a sleeper.
Joe Galli with some breaking news that Strictly Business may be breaking up, which may be seriously weighing on the mind of the champion here. Green with a powerbomb to Kamille as the champion was superplexing Rae. Rae and Kamille team up for a double chokeslam. Kamille then nails Radio Silence for 2. Kamille with a Torture Rack TKO to Green but Green's feet collide with the referee and he can't call the pin. Kamille misses a charge and goes to the outside. Rae with a stunner for 2 and 7/8 it was that close.
Kamille with a spear to Rae and scores the pin to retain in a wild one.
WINNER AND STILL NWA WOMEN'S WORLD CHAMPION KAMILLE
Thom Lattimer comes out to celebrate his fiance's successful title defense.
