CROCKETT CUP NIGHT TWO PRE-SHOW
Our preshow begins with Harry Smith and Doug Williams coming out with Kyle Davis. The Commonwealth Connection are ready and are honored to be in the Crockett Cup and are just 2 wins away. However, The Briscoes, La Rebellion and the Cardonas are also in the same spot. Doug is excited for Nick Aldis' challenge of Matt Cardona tonight.
Joe Galli & Tim Storm are on the call of tonight's pre-show.
Tonight's Semi Finals are as follows:
La Rebellion vs. The Commonwealth Connection
The Cardonas (VSK & Mike Knox) vs. The Briscoes
Still to come tonight:
NWA World Champion Matt Cardona vs. Nick Aldis with Jeff Jarrett as the special referee
NWA Women's World Tag Team Champions The Hex (Allysin Kay and Marti Belle) vs. Ella Envy & Kenzie Paige
NWA National Championship: Anthony Mayweather defends against Jax Danea
NWA World's Jr Heavyweight Championship: Austin Aires vs. Colby Corino vs. Darius Lockheart vs. Homicide
NWA Women's World Champion Kamille vs. Kylie Rae vs. Chelsea Green
NWA TV Champion Tyrus vs. Rodney Mack
AJ Cazana vs. Mims
I admit right here and now that I know nothing of AJ Carzana. He's known as The Legacy but we're told about his parentage but he was trained by Dr. Tom Prichard. This should be (I emphasize SHOULD be) a nice showcase for the up and coming Mims, who fell short in round 1 last night with partner Da Pope. Physically, Cazana seems to match up pretty well with Big Strong Mims. Cazana with a nice stun gun on Mims into a splash in the corner.
So far a much more competitive match than I imagined, and I'm not complaining, as the NWA, in the Powerrr era, hasn't shied away from focusing on new talent we may not have seen nationally (Eddie Kingston, Thunder Rosa and Ricky Starks came directly to AEW from here- I'd say they've done pretty well on the big stage, wouldn't you?). This has been, in the words of the Great Cory Strode, a heck of a "Hoss Fight" thus far. Cazana hit a big belly to belly but he is exhausted form this one and can't cover in time. Cazana misses a big Vader Bomb. Mims with a big strong headbutt and a flying lariat. Big Strong Slam and Mims scores the pin
WINNER: MIMS
Great showing for the unknown AJ Cazana. I think Mims could be a serious TV Title Contender
May Valentine is with Darius Lockheart, ahead of what he says is the biggest match of his career. He reminds us that he's a veteran and in no way, shape or form an underdog.
While we have a quick break I want to give a big shout out to my friend and all around good-guy RJ Krazinski, who debuts his new podcast, Reffin It Up on Wednesday with Impact Referee Brian Hebner. You can get in on all major podcast platforms, absolutely free.
Team War Match: Magic Jake Dumas & The Fixers vs. Marshe Rocket, Jordan Clearwater & BLK Jeez w/Austin Idol vs. Cyon, Mike Bennett and Matt Taven
The Rules here are unique: Each team sends one man in at a time and he must wrestle a Triple Threat Match. As a man is pinned or submitted, he must leave and a teammate takes over. The match continues until 2 teams are completely eliminated. Nice surprise seeing OGK here, as they were in Philadelphia last night at the Impact tapings (which may be why their first round match got pushed up to Kentucky last month). Cyon vs. BLK Jeez are kicking us off, with the Fixers/Dumas team conspicuously NOT getting involved. It's great strategy if the referee lets you get away with it. Cyon with a big running start, he catapults himself into the 5th row on to BLK Jeez. I don't know who this Cyon is, but he has a heck of an Ego. If I'm Jeez or Cyon, I'm attacking someone on the Fixers Team. Cyon pins Jeez to eliminate him. Rockett takes his place and immediately taps to an STF. Clearwater enters, as he's the only one on his team left, he scores a quick pin with his feet on the ropes.
Magic Jake finally enters the fray, he's quickly thrown over the top, which is an elimination. Wrecking Ball Legursky , he takes out Clearwater with a Powerbomb and a splash. Idol Sports Management's team has been completely eliminated. Bennett joins the match. We're down to the Fixers v OGK. Bennett with a big superkick and a rolling forearm, he eliminates the Wrecking Ball. Jay Bradley is Last Man Standing now and he takes out Bennett.
Matt Taven immediately hits the Climax and a frog splash for the pin on Bradley.
WINNERS: CYON & THE OGK
May Valentine is with Jax Dane, he's put his past friendship with Anthony Mayweather so far behind him and he's completely ready to be National Champion.
Alex Taylor w/Capt Yuma vs. PJ Hawx
Why do I have the feeling things are about to get worse for Capt. Yuma's relationship with the Ill Begotten. Should be a nice showcase here for both. Hawx had a very good showing on night 1, winning he and Luke Hawx's first round match and then falling short in a handicap match against La Rebellion. PJ starts this off with some solid mat wrestling. Yuma actually tries to distract the ref a bit but PJ maintains the edge. Taylor battles back. For two guys that might be able to get away with high flying, they're doing a solid job keeping this one grounded. Beautiful Single Underhook suplex by PJ for 2. Taylor with a Falcon Arrow for 2. Taylor doesn't want Yuma's coaching. The distraction allows PJ to lock in a sitting sharpshooter and Taylor immediately taps.
WINNER: PJ HAWX
PJ Hawx became a player for the NWA, no doubt about it.
Taylor, as expected, is FURIOUS. He hits Yuma with a Low Blow and a Death Valley Driver. Yuma is OUT of the Ill Begotten.

Crockett Cup Semi Finals: Mark & Jay Briscoe -2nd seed vs. The Cardonas, VSK & Mike Knox -11 seed
Dem Boys are getting the love from Nashville, which seems to have a bigger and livelier crowd tonight. This match result will be real interesting, as Knox and VSK are NWA guys and the Briscoes are well known outside of the NWA. Mark Brsicoe is THE master of Red Neck Kung Fu. Briscoes look extremely crisp early on here, but will they be distracted knowing they've got the biggest non WrestleMania match on WrestleMania weekend vs. FTR? Knox just tagged in and nailed a FAST cross body. That was both impressive and painful. I absolutely love Mark Briscoe's war yelp every time he tries something big. Another flying cross body from Knox. Again, that looked good. Jay has had enough. He lays out Knox. The Briscoes execute Redneck Boogie and a Doomsday device and that's all she wrote for VSK.
WINNERS: THE BRISCOES
Crockett Cup Semi Finals: La Rebelion (Bestia 666 & Mecha Wolf) -1 seed vs. Davey Richards & Harry Smith -4 seed
Honestly, as a wrestling fan, I'm good with whoever wins this, as the finals ought to be an absolute banger. God, Harry Smith is HUGE. Williams and 666 kick us off and Williams just takes him down into a kneebar submission. Smith tags in and nails a huge headbutt into a press slam. Chop block by Mecha Wolf as Smith was trying a power bomb. Interesting as the story here thus far is Williams' shoulder taped up to the gills. I was expecting him to be the injury story but it looks like Smith's knee might be the issue. Now the NWA World Tag Team Champions are able to take over. Mecha Wolf actually hit Smith's knee with a cutter into a Dragon Screw.
Williams get the hot tag and he's grimacing with each strike he makes using that shoulder. Smith tried to make a save after a tiger driver to Williams but got dropkicked in the bad knee. La Rebellion missed Mark of the Beast badly, that could have been dangerous. They tried it again but Smith made the save. Smith tagged in and immediately hit a 2nd rope power slam for the pin.
WINNERS: DAVEY RICHARDS & HARRY SMITH
