Welcome to my TLC PPV blog.
Nice to see Jeff Jarrett get a slot on the panel.
The pre-game show match saw Otis, Daniel Bryan, Shorty G and Big E beat Baron Corbin, Cesaro, Shinsuke Nakamura and Sami Zayn. Solid action with the finish seeing E pin the Intercontinental Champ, which makes sense since it seems Big E is going for the Title. It’s time to give Big E a shot to show what he can do as a single.
We are opening up with Drew McIntyre defending his WWE Title against AJ Styles in a TLC match. I guess Drew inherited the Brock “put me on first” spot.
While they did the preview for the match, DeAndre Hopkins scored, sending me to my Fantasy League final. And I still have another quarter of Patrick Mahomes plus Nick Chubb tonight to go. Hoo Ha!
AJ was out first, with Omos. Then, the champ. Drew worked AJ over early on.
Drew was beating the snot out of AJ on the floor when he faced off with Omos, who did nothing. If it’s no DQ, why didn’t he?
With Styles down on the floor, Drew got the ladder and set it up. He went up and AJ pasted him with a chair to the leg, turning the tide.
Drew tried to monkey flip AJ into the ladder but AJ caught it and started climbing. Cool spot. Drew grabbed him and flipped AJ into the chair he set up in the corner instead. He sold the leg as he went up the ladder but AJ pasted him in the back with a chair and went to work on the leg.
Drew tried to suplex a ladder on AJ but he moved, and AJ went back to work on the leg. Then he put Drew’s leg in the ladder and did a Calf Crusher. Ouch. AJ worked Drew over with a chair a lot and did a Crusher on the leg with a chair. Drew is selling the leg. AJ went to se up the ladder but Drew grabbed it. So, AJ went back to the leg. He’s been working it over for a while now, he just slammed it in the post. And then he nailed him with a ladder to the head. Time to climb AJ. But not, he set up a table on the floor and laid Drew on it. He is going for the kill as he went back in the ring. He perched a ladder in the corner and climbed but Drew popped up and threw a ladder in AG’s face, down he went. Drew threw the table in the ring. But AJ did a drop toehold and Drew went into the perched ladder. AJ went for the Forearm off of the table but Drew caught him and tossed him onto the ladder.
They got up and AJ went up the ladder. Drew grabbed him and slammed him from the ring through the table on the floor. Drew was at the table when out came The Miz. He knocked Drew off of the ladder and cashed in the MITB contract. I hate that thing, but at least it’s out of play. Dumb ass Miz took forever to climb it, allow Omos to come and grab him like a baby. He then dropped Miz through a table on the floor. Morrison hit Omos with a chair, to no affect. Morrison tried to leave but couldn’t figure it out for some reason, even though he literally just came out that way. It’s a Triple Threat now. Drew is trying to get up. He is having trouble. AJ got on the ladder. Drew did too. Miz is dead, at least for now. The two are trying to get to the top.
While they were fighting, in came Miz. He went right up a second ladder but Drew stopped him. He tossed AJ. He dumped Miz to the floor. Drew it all along but AJ came out of nowhere. They are fighting. Down goes Drew. AJ has it but here comes Miz. While they were fighting Drew pushed them off the ladder. He hit a Claymore on Miz. Up he went. Drew grabbed the belt to retain.
The match was really good. We got rid of the insipid MITB. Drew didn’t lose in a goofy way. He also got revenge for the stupid way that Raw ended last Monday. Given the build, it was all I could have hoped for.
Kayla Braxton interviewed Paul Heyman. He likes NASCAR because of the car crashes. He doesn’t need to watch NASCAR because people will get hurt tonight, and Kevin Owens will be one of them. He will get hurt bad tonight.
Sasha Banks defending her Title against Carmella is up next.
The bell rang. Sasha attacked and Mella took a powder to the floor. Once she got in, Sasha was largely in control. She threw Mella to the floor but her guy Reginald caught her and helped her do a rana on Sasha to get control of the match.
