Early on, it’s a cat and mouse game, with Seth chasing and Dean countering. He goaded the IC Champ to chase him on the floor, where he laid him out. He threw Seth back in the ring and went to work.
I am begging Renee to stop referring to her husband as “Dean Ambrose”. You are married to the guy already! Corey is going after her about Dean and she is being defensive. It’s not fun to listen to.
The early part of the match is Dean working over Seth. The crowd is pretty quiet. Seth has been selling for a while now.
Seth is selling his knee but it didn’t stop him from hitting a few topes.
They are selling Seth’s knee so it’s not the action packed match I had hoped for. Dean is largely taking advantage of Seth’s “injury”.
The fans seem to agree with me. They are chanting this is boring.
Seth went for a Frog Splash but landed on Dean’s knees. Two count only.
Rollins got a two with a Falcon Arrow but then grabbed the knee when Dean kicked out.
Seth went for a knee when Dean put out the Shield Fist. Rollins feigned considering it and then hit him. Seth finally went nuts, I guess remembering what this was all about to begin with. Why it took so long? Beats me.
Anyway, Dean took advantage of Seth’s emotions and nailed a Dirty Deeds to win the IC Title.
This was a weird match. They worked hard, clearly, but it just didn’t click. Sometimes that happens.
The women are closing the night as Becky Lynch defends her Title against Asuka and Charlotte.
Becky was out last, to a huge pop. I hope they keep running with her in this role.
This is the one I have been waiting for!
They are beating themselves up early. Asuka did a Snap Mare off the top onto a ladder on Becky. OUCH! Asuka climbed the ladder but Charlotte stopped her. They fought trying to get up and grab the Title. Asuka won when she powerbombed Charlotte through a table. Asuka went up, but The Man came off the top rope with a boot to stop her. The fans chanted for Becky. With Becky and Asuka on the floor, Charlotte hit a moonsault and went into plunder mode but Becky beat her to it and trashed them both with a chair.
But the Man set them both on the announce table and dropped a leg off of a HIGH ladder. Charlotte took it all when Asuka rolled to the floor. OUCH.
The fans think it’s awesome. They are right. Asuka managed to go in for the Title belt since the other two were down on the floor.
Becky met her on the ladder. They fought when in came Charlotte with the cane and beat them both. Charlotte then hit a Backsploder into a table but then got beaten with the cane by Asuka. It’s wild! And then Charlotte drove Asuka through the barricade with a crazy spear!
With Asuka dead, Charlotte and Becky faced off and just went nuts on each other.
Charlotte put Becky on a table on the floor and went up and to the top and bombs away, a flip through the table.
Charlotte thought she had it but Asuka met her on the ladder and they fought for the belt. That allowed Becky to set up a ladder of her own. Asuka went down, so Becky and Charlotte fought.
Out came Ronda Rousey. She pushed them off the ladder. The fans booed her. Asuka went up and grabbed the belt, new Women’s Champion!
The story was that Ronda screwed Charlotte and Becky because of what they did to her earlier. Sounds like Ronda defending in a three way at Mania to me.
The match was fantastic, easily the best thing on the show.
