While I was finishing dinner, The Miz took on Apollo Crews for the IC Title. Crews dominated most of the way. Then, he made the "rookie" mistake and Miz hit the SCF for the win. The story was that Crews is up and coming, but didn't get it done today. Given the lack of promotion that they did for the match, it was the right finish. And it should be said, Miz is really good and delivers every time out. He gets overlooked too often, and that's not fair to him. Good match.
AJ Styles vs. John Cena is up next.
AJ is out first. Good reaction. Very good. When AJ's entrance ended, the fans started getting ready to boo Cena. And they did. And sing that he sucks to his song. They booed. He didn't care. Why would he?
The crowd chanted for both men and they took it in. Cena said, "This is what it's about!" Yep, it is. The AJ chants were a little louder, FYI. Then it got close. Cena seemed to legitimately enjoy the duel. They did a healthy feeling out process early.
John has a red, white and blue belt on his jorts.
AJ hit a dropkick and while he was mugging about it, Cena punched him in the face and took control. The crowd chanted, "John Cena sucks" while he was in control. Cena took AJ to the apron but AJ suplexed him on it. David Otunga meekly said, "That's a game changer." YA THINK? It hurt me and I didn't take the bump. But it didn't hurt Cena, who hit a high elevation back body drop on AJ.
Cena hit a big dropkick for a two. He followed with a suplex and now the duel is equal for both guys. AJ came back with a forearm to the face but Cena took control again. Fans booed as he went for the Five Knuckle. Up for the AA but AJ got out and hit the Pele kick into the Styles Clash. Cena powers out at two. Cena gets a two as well. They are working hard. Real, real hard. We just got our first This Is Awesome of the match.
John took AJ up to the top but AJ powered out and did a torture rack into a power bomb for two. Brother is strong, don't let his height fool you. Cena came back with a two. This is so good.
AJ got a two with an AA onto his knee. The chants are equal for both guys, and they should be. They are both insane.
AJ missed a 450 splash and Cena got two with an I have no idea what to call it.
Styles got a two off of a suplex/facebuster combo. I think the roster watched NXT last night. It feels like a continuation, and I mean that in the best possible way.
AJ came in with a springboard but Cena grabbed the leg and locked on the STF. AJ reversed it with a crossface of his own. John got up and the crowd booed, thinking we would see the AA but AJ reversed and got the Calf Crusher. Cena looked at the rope so Cena turned him and worked the leg.
Cena rolled through and reversed it for the STF. There were boos, of course. AJ rolled through to get out and hit an enzigiri. Cena got a tornado DDT off of the second rope but couldn't hold for the cover. They are leaving it all in the ring.
Cena got up and went to the top. He hit the leg to the head but AJ kicked out at two. You can tell some of the fans are fearing the finish of Cena winning.
Cena put AJ on the top and set up for the AA but AJ used elbows to get out. AJ launched off of the top rope with a rana. He went out and did the springboard elbow, but only got a two.
Cena is selling the leg, so he can't get AJ up for the AA, despite the big clothesline. He goes up to the second rope again for the AA and hits it, but AJ kicks out. The crowd pops and chants yes. They have hope. Listen Vince, let AJ win here. Cena has a WTF look on his face as the crowd is going nuts. AJ is down, but Cena is like WTF?
Cena just watched as AJ got to his feet.AJ walked into an AA but Styles reversed and hit the Clash, but he can't capitalize. Or can he? He went out and hit the springboard elbow, 1-2-3. AJ wins cleanly in a freakin' amazing match. Both guys tore down the house. They fought straight up and the margin was razor thing. AJ needed the win here since Cena is Cena, and they 100 percent did the right thing. Awesome, awesome stuff.
After the match, Cena sat up in the ring and pulled off his never give up gimmick and kissed it, leaving it in the ring. He slowly left the ring, all class. He got a good reaction and he saluted the crowd as he left. What an awesome way to end an awesome match.

Jon Stewart came out and put it over. And then mocked him interfering in John Cena's match last year. He has learned his lesson. He mocked himself for taking the AA last year and showing belly. He is here to stand up for The New Day because of what The Club did to Big E. He showed he is joining the New Day. He has a Booty Os shirt and a unicorn horn. He is joining them tonight in Big E's stead. He had the crowd help him introduce New Day. And they did.
They came out (Kofi and X) and he asked how they stayed so calm. Out came the challengers. Tag Title match is next.
Kofi and X were in control early. Hmm. Then the challengers came back with heat on Kofi. Gallows and Kofi tagged out and X was on fire on Anderson. He even hit a springboard Savage elbow on Anderson. Kofi then tagged in and they put Anderson down for the count but Gallows made the save. That allowed the Club to take over on Kofi. They hot the Magic Killer but Stewart cam,e in to break it up. The Club came to beat him up so he asked for a second and tucked in his shirt. They eyed the ringpost to nut him. And just as I said where is Big E, his music hit and he came out and went NUTS. Cleaning house on the Club. His nuts are fine. The New Day got DQ'd but not one cared. The crowd popped. Big E even drank his nut juice out of the jar. After the match, Stewart danced with The New Day.
Yes, it was a goofy and hokey finish, but it was fine for what it was. If you can get Jon Stewart, you use him.
