Welcome to my ongoing Royal Rumble 2025 blog.
Man, this show has a huge event feel. Joe Tess doing the intro was great. He has invested in this job and is great already. The building is packed and LIVE.
The National Anthem was really well done. The crowd loved it.
Judging by the pops when they showed the arrival, it sure seems like the crowd is way behind CM Punk, Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins to win The Rumble.
It was great to have Stephanie Mac welcome us to the show. Her old man is not welcome on my TV but she sure as hell is.
Pat McAfee putting over Indianapolis was cool. He had a lot to do with this, and other, events, coming here.
You announcers are Pat, Wade Barrett and The GOAT Michael Cole. I bet Corey Graves is kicking himself right now. You could have been there.
Cole referred to Alicia Taylor as the best ring announcer in the business. I wonder how Lilian Garcia and Mike Rome feel about that.
The Women's Royal Rumble match
We are starting off with Iyo Sky and Liv Morgan. They did the usual banter about drawing number one being so bad, but then Wade mentioned number two is basically the same thing. I could see both of these women going a long way. I am glad that we didn't know the order. It builds to the drama.
At number three we have Roxanne Perez. Nice! She came in HOT and the fans are loving her work.
At four is Lyra Valkyria. She had a wardrobe malfunction so Liv attacked her. Chelsea Green is in at 5, two current champs and three former champs. This roster is LOADED.
At 6 we have B-Fab. Good for her, she has been steadily approving.
Ivy Nile is in at 7. No one has been eliminated yet. Zoey Stark at 8. Lash Legend at 9.
So they started out with five bigger names, then brought in some younger women. Smart. Lash is on fire. She laid everyone out and pointed at the Mania sign. She used Nile like a lawn dart until B-Fab and her faced off. They knocked themselves down and Chelsea tossed Fab. She tried to get Lash but she came back.
Bianca Belair came out at 10 and cleaned house. Shayna Baszler came out at 11 so Zoey has help.
They have a cool graphic at the letting us know active, eliminated and next entrant.
Nile eliminated Lyra. We know who will be challenging Lyra next. First program set up.
At 12, last year's winner Bayley! She faced off with Iyo before heels attacked him.
At 13, Sonia Deville. All of PFC is in the match now. PFC were in control when Maxxine Dupri came out at 14.
PFC wanted to attack her but Nile took charge. Maxxine laid her out. FFC was about to take her out when the faces came back. Maxxine had a really impressive burst and took out Ivy. But then PFC took out Maxxine.
Naomi is out at 15. Bianca has back up.
Bianca eliminated Zoey. Iyo tossed Sonya. Bayley tossed Shayne. All are out.
Jaida Parker from NXT is out at 16. Good for her. As I have said a few times, with the rosters as loaded as they are, they don't need to go into the wayback machine the way that they did when Vince had hardly anyone over.
Lash hit Parker by accident. Chelsea took advantage and took out Lash. Chelsea was super happy when Piper came out at 17. Chelsea implored her to RUN to the ring. She sicced Piper on the tag champs.
Chelsea was standing on the apron when Piper bumped into her and eliminated her by accident.
At 18 Natalya got to keep her Rumble streak alive.
Jordynne Grace comes out at number 19 to a huge pop. Cole announced that she is officially part of WWE. Grace did a cool few spots of hitting clotheslines on women while being choked. Grace eliminated Parker. Piper went after her and Grace did a Death Valley Driver on her! Pat said Holy Shit! The crowd did too. It was nuts, that's power.
Grace hugged Naomi (from their time in TNA). Bianca did NOT like that and tried to toss Grace.
Michin is in at 20.
We are at 21 and this is flying by. And here comes the story Mike broke earlier today, ALEXA BLISS IS BACK! The crowd went nuts so she took her time getting to the ring. The crowd chanted WELCOME BACK.
Zelina Vega is in at 22.
Liv, Iyo and Roxanne are all still in by the way.
Candace LaRae is in at 23. She got to the ring quicker than Alexa! A heel should take their time unless an ally in the ring needs her, like Chelsea needed Piper.
Stephanie Vaquer is in at 24 and makes a splash, literally! Vaquer just wasted Bayley with a Dragon Screw. OUCH!
Remember what I said about the loaded roster? Shoot, we still have Nia and Charlotte to go!
Now if you want to bring in a legend, you do what they did at 25 and bring in the ageless Trish Stratus. I need to start doing yoga.
The fans are chanting this is awesome and it is. It's flying by and so much is going on.
Liv gets some help as Raquel Rodriguez is in at 26.
Raquel helped Liv eliminate Bliss and Nattie. The crowd is not happy Alexa is out.
Big pop when Charlotte comes out at 27. She took it all in like the star she is and even got pyro. The fans knew they were seeing a star, because they are.
Charlotte came in on fire, chopping everyone. She is shredded, my god she is in amazing shape. Just like I need to do Trish's yoga, I need to do her program too. She eliminated Michin. She eliminated Piper.
Guilia is out at 28! Yes! That leaves Nia and Rhea to go, They did a great job with the entrants.
Iyo and Guilia went right at it, love it! 14 women are left.
Gulia put out Grace. I smell a program.
Guilia and Vaquer teamed up. Perze joined them and they faced off against Bayley, Bianca and Charlotte. Old guard vs. New.
Liv and Iyo just hit an hour in the match.
29 is Nia. She is taking her time to get to the ring, as she should.
Nia eliminated Zelina before she even got in the ring.
Nia got in Trish's face. Candace came in and Trish eliminated her. Trish did a rana on Nia. Awesome. She was going to pull her out when Candace grabbed her leg allowing Nia to eliminate Trish. BOO!
At number 30 is Nikki Bella.
Iyo and Liv have set the record.
They did a cool spot where Vaquer and Iyo battled to keep their feet from hitting the ground. Five women are on the apron and Nia pushed all of them out. Iyo. We are down to six, Nia, Bella, Bayley, Guilia, Roxanne and Charlotte. Guilia, Roxxane and Charlotte were fighting on the apron when Roxanne took out Guilia. Bella went at Nia but hit Bayley instead, eliminating her. Nia eliminated Bella too.
It's Nia, Charlotte and Roxanne, who has set the record now.
Charlotte eliminated Nia. Charlotte eliminates Roxanne and in her first match back, wins the match and goes on to WrestleMania.
I brainfarted and forgot that Rhea is the champ now. Duh. I could definitely see her going after Rhea but her and Tiffy would be pretty cool too.
I know some people will groan a bit that she came back and won in her first match but given how gruesome her injury was and how hard she worked to get back, I am fine with her winning. It's not like she isn't a top star. The match was great, all of the women worked their asses off. Great stuff.
