FULL ROYAL RUMBLE 2024 BLOG

Welcome to my Royal Rumble 2024 blog.  First and foremost, I want to thank everyone who sent along well wishes for PWInsider's 20th anniversary.  I appreciate the kind words and support more than I can tell you.  When I came home from the gym on this day in 2004 to find out that Joey Styles had decided to announce I was leaving 1Wrestling.com five days early, the journey here began and I can tell you from the bottom of my heart that I have never taken one day doing what we do here for granted.  I am blessed with the best and greatest team in our business.  I suppose other sites will say that about their teams, and I respect that, but it doesn't mean that they aren't wrong.  They are.  My goal was always to treat what we do here like actual journalists treat the subjects that they cover.  20 years ago, that concept was coming under fire.  In 2024?  Well there aren't many of us left but rest assured that as long as there is blood flowing through the veins of myself, Mike Johnson and the superstar staff that makes this site what it is, that won't ever change.  You have my word on that.  Thank you to everyone who has made PWInsider.com what it is.

The first surprise of the night was Pat McAfee return to call the Rumble with with Michael Cole and Corey Graves.

We are opening with the Women's Rumble match, as Mike reported earlier today.  First out, Natalya.  Next, the returning Naomi.  Vince may not have appreciated you, but HHH sure does.  Big pop for Naomi!

Number three is up and it’s Bayley.  Big pop.  That explains her face when she drew her number on Smackdown.  Candace LeRae is out at four.  

Jordynne Grace from TBNA is out next, wearing the TNA Title.  Pat is putting over the TNA champion, saying she is a stud.  After she cleaned hour, Naomi, who she was aligned with there, hugged her.  Then, it was every woman for herself.  It’s on.

Indi Hartwell came in at six.  Bayley is shocked when Asuka came out at 7.  She isn’t happy.  This is supposed to be her night.  Is this the beginning of the break up Damage CTRL?  Bayley acquiesced and started to work with Asuka.  Out goes Indi.

Ivy Nile came out at 8.  Katana Chance is out at 9.  I expect her to do some Kofi spots.  She is freaky athletic.  I use freaky in the good way here, not the Vince way.

At 10, we have one of the favorites, Bianca Belair.  11 has Kairi Sane come out.  Now Bayley is happy.  I don’t think she should be.  It feels like she will get dusted from the group tonight, maybe with Dakota taking over.  If so, I hope they book it in a way where Bayley stands up to the heels and doesn’t get treated like Edge did with Judgment Day.

Damage CTRL just eliminated Candace.

At 12, Tegan Nox.  Natty hugged Nox and then dumped her.  Bayley then dusted Natty.  Kayden Carter is out next.

Kairi and Asuka got eliminated back to back.  Kairi did a cool bit where she dangled her feet before the elimination. There were some boos.  People are chanting for Bayley.  Chelsea Green is out next.  

Bianca tried to toss Grace but she skinned the cat.  Bianca did a KOD on the apron and out Grace went.  Random thought, Tony Khan is probably not happy about WWE working with TNA.  

Piper Niven came out next, as Chelsea was going to hit the floor.  She caught her and feigned dropping her, but didn’t.

At 16, we have Xia Li.  At 17, Zelina Vega.  She did a great tornado DDT on Piper out of nowhere.  Lots of people in the match right now.

At 18 is Maxine Dupree.  Piper threw out Carter before Nia Jax came out at 19.  I think it’s Clobbering Time.

She guest Zia.  Then Ivy.  Piper went for a suplex but it didn’t work.  Piper is trying to tell Chelsea to stay in it.  Then she was the vanilla in an Oreo Cookie.  And then Nia kind of dropped Piper on Chelsea.  But Naomi kicked her….onto Chelsea.  She is getting abused.

Next out is Shotzi.  All of the women are trying to dust Nia.  It didn’t work.  Bayley dusted Maxine.  Nia dusted Piper and Chelsea. Then Nia threw chance.  

Now it gets interesting, out comes Becky Lynch at 21.  She went right after Nia.  Chelsea is somehow back in, for a second.  But Becky dusted her.  Alba Fyre is out at 22, with her partner Isla Dawn.  Not much reaction but if she shows people what she did as Kay Lee Ray that could change.  Valhalla came out but was passed by R Truth.  He was confused.  Nia dusted her.  Michin came out as Fyre was dusted.  Bayley told Cole watch me win this.  

Zoey Stark is out at 26. Zelina was dusted by Shayna when Zoey helped her partner.  At 27 is Roxanne Perez.  She is doing really well.  I just told my son in law how good she was and he sees it.  Jax just dusted Shayna and Michin.  And Shotzi.  That was number 8 for her.  

At 28 we have JADE CARGILL!  She debuts!  Jax wants her so they face off.  The crowd is into it.  They are chanting holy Vince, well shit.  Ridiculous display of power on Nia and then she tossed her out.  WOW!  Great stuff.  

Jade charged Becky and hit the post.  FYI, Jade looked awesome.

At 29 Tiffany Stratton.  She can go.  The crowd may not know it but they will.  She entered with a Swanton on a bunch of the women.  Audible NXT chant from the crowd.  Liv Morgan returned at 30, to a good pop.  Liv dusted Zoey.  Tiff dusted Roxanne.  Suddenly we see the two women’s champs watching from the back.

We are down to 7. Bianca and Jade faced off isn an awesome power spot.  Before they could fight, they got taken out.  The peeps want to see it.

Jade had Becky on the apron when Naomi charged her.  She got caught by Jade and her leg kicked her off the apron, Becky is out.  Then Naomi was tossed too.  Bayley dusted Liv and Tiff.  Down to three.  Jade, Bayley and Liv.

Bayley and Liv worked on Jade and she fought back but gut dusted by Liv.  Bayley dusted her and won The Rumble!  Over an hour in, she has her choice at the Title shot she wants in setting a new women’s record, 1:03:03.  Love it.  Bayley is a stud.  Both champs are watching.  I can totally see this being what breaks her away from Damage CTRL.  Good stuff. Really, really good stuff.
