The Elimination Chamber is 2/24 in Perth, Australia.
WrestleMania is 70 days away.
Tonight’s attendance is 48,044, a new Tropicana Field record. The Rays don’t get that in a week. Well, that may actually be true.
Next up, your main event, the Men’s Royal Rumble match!
Out first is Jey Uso. He has on a tribal lei. Jimmy is over like Rover. Out at two is his brother. Now this is a fun way to start the match. They haven’t faced off in months. They wanted their Mania match, which they still may get, but they just got their Rumble moment. This is like WTF good, just for the story it is telling.
They are throwing hands. And feet. Fun way to start things off.
Grayson Waller is out at third. He is cutting a promo on the way to the ring. He is heeling both brothers. Jey kicked Waller on the way into the ring. He came in and went to work with Jimmy on his brother.
They were working on tossing out out Jey when Andrade returned at 4. He went right after Waller so he appears to be a face. Yeah he is, the crowd is popping for him.
Carmelo Hayes is in at 5. He came in hot. He dusted Waller. First elimination.
Shinsuke Nakamura is out at 6. They turned off his song and the fans kept singing his song. Pat joined along at ringside. Hilarious. Jimmy tried to make friends with Shin. Uh, no. At 7 is Santos Escobar. He came in strong. He took out the others and faced off with Andrade. Santo hugged him and went for the Lucha love but Andrade wanted no part of it.
At 8 came Karrion Kross, with Scarlett. He worked with Jimmy on Jey. Dirty Dom came out at 9. The crowd hates him. That dude is a stud.
Dom took his time getting in. He faced off with Kross. Bad move. It gets worse as Carlito came out at 10. He has animus for some people in this match.
Carlito pulled out an apple, ate it and spit it at Santos and then dusted him. Two men out.
At 11 comes Bobby Lashley and he is ready to kill. He dumped Carlito and then dumped Kross. Just then the Authors of Pain came out to ringside. Lashley got pulled out by Kross and the Profits came out. Like I figured they are setting up Mania programs in this match. So smart.
Ludwig Kaiser came out at 12. Theory gets lucky 13. They mentioned issues with him and Pat Mac. Could they dance at Mania? Finn Balor at 14. He came in and dumped Melo when he was working on Dom. Finn is being vicious, like Rhea told him to. At 15, one of our favorites, Cody Rhodes! Cody tossed Theory right away. Bronson Reed came out at 16.
Reed dusted Andrade. Kofi came out at 17. Cody dusted Shin. Kofi dusted Kaiser. At 18 we Gunther. Things are picking up. He is not happy Kaiser got eliminated. Cody and Gunther faced off as an homage to last year. The people popped. Gunther dusted Kofi. No gravity defying spots this year. At 19, here comes Ivar. He and Reed need to do some stuff.
Jimmy tried to make friends again, with Ivar. No one wants him for a friend. FYI, Jey has mostly taken a beating. I almost forgot he was there. At 20, Brock’s loss is Bron’s gain as Brown Breaker makes his Rumble debut. He dumped Jimmy right away. The Balor. Damn, give the kid a debut!
He faced off with Gunther. He got the better of it. At 21, Omos. Call it a hunch but he won’t last long. He came in strongly so maybe I am wrong. He just, kind of, eliminated Reed. Bron dusted Ivar and faced off with Omos. At 22……PAT MCAFEE. He;’s going from the announce position. Pat got in and realized maybe that wasn’t a great idea and eliminated himself. Smart man. Brown faced off with Omos and knocked him out. Dom then dumped Bron. JD McDonagh is out at 23. Bron speared him on the floor before he got in the ring. Pat is not happy that his broadcast buddies let him go in there.
24 is R-Truth, again. Jey tossed JD at his feet. Truth waited for a tag from Dom to get in. Funny stuff. He aped John Cena and Gunther laid him out. 25 is Miz. He went right after Gunther. Then he faced off with Truth and they worked together for a second. Miz went to elimianted Dom and Truth saved him. 26 saw Damien Priest come out. He has an ally in Dom and maybe Truth? Nope, he went right after Truth and tossed him.
At 27, here cimes CM Punk! Pop. They are chanting his name. He dusted Dom. Ricochet is out at 28. Gunther chopped Miz out of the match, At 29 it’s Drew Mac. Jey thought he had Gunther but got pulled out instead. He went almost an hour. No one will break 60 minutes in this match.
And finally at 30, Sami Zayn. The fans are singing his song. He came in like a house on fire.
Drew threw Ricochet out in ugly fashion. And then there were six. Fans are chanting for Punk.
Sami took out Priest.
Mac dumped Sami.
And then there were four.
Seth Rollins is watching in a Sky Box. Roman is watching with The Wise Man.
Drew and Gunther were working together but he hit Gunther by accident. Then he hit Cody and Punk on purpose. Instead of dumping Punk, he told him he isn’t the kid he was 10 years ago. Big mistake. Punk dumped him. Down to three. Gunther had Cody but the Nightmare managed to eliminate him instead.
It’s down to Cody and Punk. Rollns is like No F’N Way. I would say I wonder if Tony Khan is watching this but I know that he is. This could have been yours Tony.
They are on their knees throwing hands. The crowd is making noise. I hear Punk chants. But Cody got control and they are popping for them too. Punk hit three Germans. He looked at the Mania sign. Punk hit a bulldog. He gestured GTS. Nope.
Bionic Elbow from Cody. Kick to the head by Punk. He got Cody to the apron but Cody came back in. Punk is pointing to the sign. The crowd is on edge. He went for GTS but ate CrossRhodes instead.
Cody’s up first. Loud Cody chants. Punk is wobbly. Or is he? GTS out of nowhere. Both men are down. There is a This Is Awesome chant.
Punk took Cody to the ropes but Cody hung on. Pat said the tension is palpable and he’s right. The crowd is just waiting to see who wins.
Punk hit a Pedigree. He said I didn’t wait 10 years to lose to Dusty’s kid. That means you are losing to Dusty’s kid, and that’s what happened as Cody tossed him out of the ring to go back to back in Rumbles.
Punk sat on the floor and watched Cody stand on the second turnbuckle and point to the sign as pyro went off. Roman stood up as Cody pointed at Roman. It sure looks like everyone who said Cody wouldn’t win were wrong. Now it’s time to see if and/or how The Rock will fit into this.
So as things stand now, Cody can finish his story against Roman on Night Two and I don’t see any reason why Punk can’t take on Seth Rollins in the main event of night one. This is shaping up to be a LOADED WrestleMania.
I enjoyed the hell out of the show. Thanks for reading!
