MAIN EVENT TIME, CAN THEORY BEAT THE ODDS, MIXED TAG TIME, BROCK AND BOBBY ARE ANGRY, THE WOMEN START THE SHOW - FULL ELIMINATION CHAMBER MATCH

By Dave Scherer on 2023-02-18 20:10:00

Welcome to my Elimination Chamber blog.  Yep, really looking forward to this one and the main event.  I think I speak for a lot of you when I say that.  I got up today psyched for the show and really happy that I have the job that I have.  Life is good.  Let’s get rolling.

The crowd is LIT.  17,271 are here and they are fired up.  They are already chanting for Sami as the show comes on the air.  Michael Cole is ringside with Corey Graves.  No Pat McAfee.

We are opening with the Women’s Elimination Chamber match, the winner gets at shot at Bianca Belair at WrestleMania.

Asuka is out first.  Huge pop.  I think I could even get a decent pop from this crowd, but I probably would have to trip on my way to the right to get it.  Anyway, I like new Asuka.  She’s a lot of fun.  She goes into Pod 1.  Carmella is out next.  She will be on Pod 2.  Raquel Rodriguez is out and in Pod 3.  I wanted her to start the match and run the whole thing and win it.  She got a nice pop.  Nikki Cross gets Pod 4 so Liv and Natalya will start the night.

Nattie came out first.  Look up, that’s the roof being blown off.  They will NOT settle their tea kettle.  Liv came out last, probably to try and settle down the Canadian fans a bit.

Ring the bell and we are off.

Liv got the early jump but then Natty went into plunder mode, throwing Liv in a pod and also the fence.  Then we go our third entrant, he comes Raquel.  She cleaned house, laying out both women.  But Natty came back.  Raquel is really strong.  I know, what a sharp observation.

At number four is Nikki Cross.  She never bothered to take off her ring jacket.  Raquel took herself out when Nikki moved and she nailed the post with her shoulder.  Nikki is taking out everyone.  Then she decided to climb the cage.  She’s on Carmella’s pod.  She took off her jacket and splashed all three women in the ring.  The crowd loved that.  Everyone is down as Carmella and Asuka wait to enter.

In comes Carmella.  She went for a pin on Morgan, then Natty.  Neither worked.  Rather than beat up people she went over and talked smack to Asuka.  Nikki then came after her so Carmella locked herself back in her pod.  So, Raquel picked up Nikki and destroyed the pod as Carmella ran to another pod and locked herself in that one.

Raquel pinned Cross after the devastation.

Liv scaled the chains to get to the top of Asuka’s pod.  Raquel went to work on Natty on the second turnbuckle when Liv flew off the top with sunset powerbomb on her friend.  Carmella tried to pick the bones but Raquel kicked out.  Asuka came in and went right after Carmella.  The crowd chanted that Asuka’s gonna kill you.  Graves is losing his mind.  This is good stuff.  Well, except for Mrs. Graves.

Asuka faced off we Raquel and the crowd is chanting for her.  When Raquel got a shot in they weren’t happy.  This is Empress Level Asuka and I love it.

Mella hit a kick to Liv’s face and Natty locked on the Sharpshooter.  Asuka joined in with an arm bar and the ref said she is eliminated.

Asuka faced off with Natty and locked on the Sharpshooter but Mella kicked and pinned Natty.

Raquel, Asuka and Carmella remain.  The crowd is for Asuka.

Asuka and Mella worked together to quickly take out Raquel.

Those went really quickly.  We are down to Mella vs. Asuka.

Asuka got the Asuka Lock on and it is’ over, Asuka vs. Bianca Belair at Wrestlemania.

I was totally loving the match until the end when it went super quick.  I would have liked that they get another five minutes before going right to the end but it was still a really good match.  I just wish it was longer since it went maybe a half hour.  The crowd loved Asuka getting the win.

Next up, Brock Lesnar and Bobby Lashley will try and destroy all of Montreal.

Bobby is out first, then Brock.  Lesnar is the crowd favorite here.  I hope they really go hard here.  Brock didn’t go right after him before the bell but once it rang, yes he did.  He tossed Bob to the floor then threw him into the ring but he ran into a Bob spear.  I hope this is just two beast slobberknockering.  A second Spear and Lashley set up for The Hurt Lock.  Brock fought him and reversed into an F 5.  Two count only.  Second F5 but still just two.  Brock then ran into a Spear and got booed.  He put on The Hurt Lock.  Brock’s face is turning red.  He couldn’t get out.  So, he did a back kick to the nuts and Brock got disqualified.  The crowd hated that decision.  Then the ref got in his face and he destroyed him.  He then turned his attention to Bob.  F5 through the table.  The crowd is chanting Holy Shizzle.  He picked up Chad Patton and did an F5 on him onto what is left of the table.

As a match, it never really got going.  It was an exchange of spots until they went to the DQ.  I expected this would be a story advancer to get to these two in a match to end it all at Mania.  That’s how it felt to me.  I am glad it was the second match because if it opened, it would have been a flat way to do it.  It wasn’t bad, but it was more angle than match.
