PRE-SHOW NOTES:

The show is 100% sold out with zero comps available for guests.

Tonight will be the largest crowd live for a pro wrestling event in the history of the Hammerstein Ballroom.

We are told tonight is the night to expect some surprises.

There are some cool ECW-inspired GCW shirts on sale in order to pay tribute to the history of the building,  The merchandise room backstage is PACKED.

Sean Waltman and The SAT, Jose and Joel Maximo are among those visiting.

KICKOFF SHOW

Former ECW ring announcer Stephen DeAngelis is working the Kickoff show as a way to pay tribute to the history of the venue.  Emil Jay will handle the remainder of the show.

BATTLE ROYAL

Psycho Clown, Dark Sheik, Parrow, Hoodfoot to start.

Everyone battled.  They are doing staggered entrances.  I am sure I will miss a few names as the crowd is way too loud and is overpowering the mic.

Next out was Ruckus with Robby Mireno.  Juicy Finau.  Too Hot Steve Scott.   Nate Webb.  Yoya.  Hammerstein went nuts for Webbs' entrance to "Teenage Wasteland."

Everyone battled.

More entrances including Big Vin.   Janai Kai.  Charles Mason.  B-Boy got a huge pop. Lufisto also got a monster pop.

Next out was AEW's Thunder Rosa was next and got a massive pop.  Lufisto tossed B-Boy and Nate Webb.  Rosa took out Parrow with a rana.    Rosa jumped off Lufisto's back with a big dropkick on V.  She and Lufisto faced off.   The crowd chanted for GCW.  They battled back and forth until Rosa was knocked out.  Lufisto cleaned house on the remaining competitors.

Lufisto was tossed by Mason which the crowd booed.

Big V chokeslammed Mason over the ropes to score the victory.

The winner, Big V!

Big V and his father, ECW Original 911, shared a beer together.

It was your standard battle royal but the crowd being so into everything made this a lot more fun.  The pops for some of the entrances were truly nuts.  Lufisto and Thunder Rosa facing off was a LOT of fun.

Kickoff Show Scramble Match: Jack Cartwheel vs. Dante Leon vs. NYC native The Grim Reefer vs. Ninja Mack vs. Alex Zayne vs. Nick Wayne vs. Shane Mercer.

ALL sorts of insane stuff.  Zayne did a twisting springboard moonsault to the floor.  They had stereo dives with Mack and Cartwheel.  Reefer "lit up" and then walked the ropes into a flip dive to the floor.  His hometown chanted "Holy sh**."

Leon hit a crazy flip cutter on Mack.  Mercer hit a crazy DVDR on Mack.  Mack fought but was caught with a rana off the top by Zayne, who then hit a German suplex on Mercer.  This is all a collection of insane, mind-boggling spot after spot.

Reefer returned and joined the fray, cleaning house.  Cartwheel hit a twisting spiral tap.  Ninja Mack hit a kick off the top, sending Leon backwards into a Zayne Poisonrana.  Mercer powerbombed Zayne and then draped him through the ropes.  Cartwheel hit a shooting star press on Zayne in the ropes.

Mercer and Reefer battled on the ropes.  Reefer nailed a tornado DDT off the ropes for the pin.

Your winner, The Grimm Reefer!

An insane match with lots of athletics that defy everything.  It was REALLY nice to see Reefer, a NYC area lifer, get this moment in the Hammerstein.  I KNOW it meant the world to him.

Brett Lauderdale and Chris Dickinson came to the ring and put over how important tonight was.  They said this company came from nothing.  Brett said when they started, he was working two jobs, delivering Japanese food and Pizza.  He said the last few years weren't easy.  They were two weeks away from the biggest weekend of the year when the pandemic hit and they almost lost it all.  The crowd booed COVID.  He said he was told there were a million GCWs and they would come and go.  He began putting over the talents, asking whether you have seen a million of those?  He said there's never been anything like GCW before and now they are live on PPV because of all the fans.

Chris Dickinson put over NYC and GCW and thanked Brett for giving him a platform tonight even though he's hurt.

They paid tribute to several GCW alumni who passed away, including Tracy Smothers, Justice Pain, Nate Hatred, Markus Crane and Danny Havoc.  Super classy.

Stephen DeAngelis thanked GCW and the crowd for having him and officially introduced Emil Jay as the ring announcer for the night.

They are doing the ring entrances for the opening match before they go live.  Very smart.

THE WRLD ON GCW

MASSIVE pop for the opening of the show live.

Grab the Brass Ring Ladder Match: G-Raver vs. PCO vs. Tony Deppen vs. Alex Colon vs. Jimmy Lloyd vs. Jordan Oliver - Winner can name match of their choice at any time against anyone.

Lio Rush is not in this match anymore as he's been moved up the card to replace Jonathan Gresham, who will not be competing tonight.

Just as they were about to start, music hit and out came AJ Gray as apparently he's been added to the match.  He was originally slated to wrestle Eddie Kingston, who is injured.

Lloyd and Oliver battled over a ladder immediately.  Deppen got involved and took them out.  Colon and the others went for another ladder on the floor.  Gray powerbombed Deppen into a ladder, then hit a lariat.  Gray set up a ladder in the center and started climbing but G-Raver tried to stop him.  He was knocked off but threw another ladder into Gray, who crashed down.

Raver threw a ladder into PCO several times in the corner but PCO walloped him with a big forearm.  PCO came off the ropes, driving the ladder into Raver, who was on Colon's shoulders.  Colon dropkicked PCO and began to climb a ladder.  PCO met him atop and they battled.  Oliver came off the top, dropkicking the ladder and them.  Oliver and Lloyd battled.  A ladder was placed against the ropes.  Oliver hit a snap Olympic Slam and a big boot to the face.  He hit a pescado to the floor on the other competitors.

Colon and Raver faced off and then hit stereo dives on everyone.  PCO hit a tope con hilo to the floor on everyone.  Deppen hit an insane 450 splash to the floor on everyone.  They battled in the aisle.  Gray hit a dive off the stage.  PCO hit a moonsault off the floor onto everyone.  PCO set up a ladder and made his way towards the top.  Gray tried to intervene but was nailed.  Oliver then tried but was headbutt down.  PCO hit a big chokeslam over the top, throttling him over the top to the floor.  PCO and Deppen battled on two ladders.  PCO was bitten in the face and fell.  Deppen drilled Oliver with an insane superkick.

Deppen bit Oliver on the face but Lloyd tossed a chair at his back.  Oliver hit a springboard stunner off the ladder on Deppen.  PCO chokeslammed Oliver off the ladder.   PCO hit a package piledriver on a ladder on Oliver.  Colon hit a double stomp off the ladder on PCO.  He and Raver battled.  Colon was placed over a chair with a ladder atop of him, sandwiching him.

Raver came off the top of the ladder, crashing down atop of Colon.  It was insane.  Raver was then hit with a Razor's Edge out of the ring through a ladder bridged to the ring.  Gray tried to dive off of one ladder, over the other but crashed and burned.  OUCH.  Alexa Colon was attacked by John Wayne Murdoch.  Gray and Lloyd battled atop the ladder.  Lloyd was forearmed off and Gray pulled the brass ring down.

Your winner, AJ Gray!

Well, that was insane.
