Welcome to my Extreme Rules, where we won’t really have any Extreme Rules, blog. We are opening with The New Day (all of them) vs. AJ Styles, Bobby Lashley and Omos (a wrestler). The booking makes sense to Vince since Big E and Lashley face off, even though the former champ has nothing to do with Omos or Styles. Apparently this was set up on the pre-game show. I was watching the Las Vegas Raiders-Miami Dolphins in overtime so I missed it. Either way, this was totally just thrown together at the last minute. In other words, it was typical Vince booking. Yay.
As you may have gathered from the Tip Sheet, this show doesn’t have me fired up. The booking to “set it up” has been terrible. The talent will all work hard, I am sure, but if I wasn’t paying $4.95 a month, they wouldn’t have gotten my money. Not for nothing but I get my Peacock money’s worth out of NXT UK alone. Anyway, here we go.
They worked hard, of course, the booking isn’t their fault. The finish came when AJ tagged himself in at Lashley’s expense, Lashley didn’t appreciate it and speared him when Lashley did the same, and E hit a Big Ending. Five of these guys deserved better.
The fans popped big for New Day and loved them after the match. Corey Graves then said enjoy it while you can because we may never seem them together again after the draft on Friday! Yeah, he’s right. It’s not like Big E was on Smackdown while the other two were on Raw before this. Oh wait a second…..I get why WWE targets the kid demo. It makes sense to book to humans that think boogers are a delicacy.
The Usos will defend the Tag Titles against The Street Profits, who have zero chance to win, next.
Montez has bad ribs due to what happened on Smackdown. Angelo wasn’t there because he was at a wedding. Montez wasn’t invited I guess.
They are working over the ribs. Hmm, I could go for some ribs right now. I digress.
The champs are beating up Montez. They took off the tape off of his ribs. Credit to Pat McAfee for selling how that puts Ford in more distress. I still want some ribs. Just saying.
Dawkins came in on fire. The fans are chanting they want tables. Well maybe if this was an Extreme Rules PPV you would get them.
These guys are working hard. For al of Jimmy’s issues, he can work. The fans are loving it. Usos dusted Angelo into the barricade but Ford wiped them out from the top. He did his big splash on Use but Use saved him.
The Usos wiped out Dawkins and then hit a double splash on Ford for the win. They had a really good match but it was hurt for me because I didn’t believe for a second that the challengers would win.
Lashley is in the back. He is telling the truth. Big E is a coward for how he won the Title. He wants a Title match tomorrow. I guess this is where they give Big E the win he should have gotten when he won the Title. Lashley is totally right about how Big E was a heel in how he poached the belt. But hey, we have a guy pushing 80 who has his pulse on the youngsters booking this.
Coming soon, all of the happy people (well men) in Saudi Arabia who can’t wait for Crown Jewel on 10/21.
Up next, Lily, with Alexa Bliss in her corner, takes on Charlotte Flair.
Seriously, I am happy that Bliss doesn’t have to bump as much doing this gimmick but it’s painful to watch. If I were Charlotte, I would be counting the days until I could go join my fiancé in AEW. But, I am not Charlotte.
