WWE RELEASES THE BOOGEYMAN

WWE posted the following today on their website: "WWE has come to terms on the release of Boogeyman (Marty Wright) as of today 9/20/06. We wish Marty the best in all future endeavors."

Wright had been out rehabbing leg injuries and was close to being ready to return to action when he was released.  Management hadn't been happy with his committment to return to action with the feeling being that he was doing the bare minimum to get back in shape.  There were also issues with him not checking in with the doctors when he was supposed to.  he was warned a few times and when he didn't change his behavior, he was let go.

ECW RATINGS

This week's edition of ECW on Sci Fi did a 1.6 cable rating, with a 2 share.  That is down from last week's number and the show's lowest number yet.  They can take solace in the fact that there was increased competition last night.  In addition to the debut of the new fall lineups on the broadcast network, there was a lot of competition on cable as well.  Nip/Tuck on FX did a 3.0 cable rating while they also went against the Dog Bounty Hunter special on A & E, which talked about his arrest and did their best number ever, a 3.3 cable rating.  Both Raw and ECW will be affected by the return of first run programming on both broadcast TV and cable.

The quarter hours were 1.4, 1.5, 1.5, 1.5 and 2.0.

HEYMAN ON THE RADIO TODAY, MORE ON THE RAW RATINGS, WWE HOLDS TRYOUTS FOR NEW WRESTLERS, WHERE ARE THEY NOW AND MORE

The producer of the "Ron and Fez" emailed me that Paul Heyman will be appearing on the show today.  He is scheduled to be on at 1 p.m.  The show airs on XM channel 202.

To follow up on the Raw ratings yesterday, the show did hours of 3.6 and 3.9.  The two highest rated quarter hours for the show were the 4.1 that they did at 10 p.m. and the 4.3 that they did for the overrun.  The rest of the quarters did between a 3.5 and a 3.8.

AM Raw did a 0.9 cable rating, with a 3.8 share.

Mike K sent this link, which goes to a story about how former wrestler Bo Dupp is now a high school girl's tennis coach.  Wow, I never saw that one coming!

BACKSTAGE NOTES FROM MONDAY'S SUPER SHOW, JOHN CENA'S SON, FORMER WWE DIVAS IN ACTION AND MORE

The word making the rounds at TV on Monday was that the Smackdown people who were at the combined ECW/Smackdown house shows over the weekend were very impressed with the work of the ECW wrestlers and how over they were with the crowd.  There was also a lot of talk about the fact that the ECW crowd on Sunday in Niagara Falls was very anti-Smackdown and pro-ECW, showing that there are still pockets of "only ECW" fans.

To follow up on the story that Mike Johnson had yesterday about being on Mad TV next month, the show has put out a casting call for what they have called an "Asian Male Little Person" to play John Cena's son in a sketch on the show.

Mista Binks reporting. ... Literally, at the very last minute, El Paso lost its CW affiliate. So no Smackdown or Smallville for El Paso, TX. Here is the KVIA press release.

EL PASO, Tx. - The new CW network launched across the nation Monday, but not in the Sun City.

KVIA had been scheduled to carry "the CW" on a new digital channel, but negotiations with Time-Warner Cable were not successful.

Time-Warner may not legally import the CW signal from a distant station such as KTLA, and the CW network has advised KVIA not to air the digital over-the-air-signal.

Residents in Las Cruces, where KVIA has reached agreement with Comcast Cable to show the CW on cable channel 14.

For residents who wish to see the CW in El Paso, they can contact Time-Warner Cable.

KVIA's programming on channel 7 will not be affected.

I contacted the local Time Warner office and they more or less stated that it is going to take a lot of phone calls or letters for a change to occur. I have already called and had four family members call. Here is the local Time Warner office contact info: www.timewarnercable.com/elpaso/customer/contactus/default.html.

If you live in El Paso and want to see Smackdown you really need to contact TW and let them know you want the CW.
