MORE FOOTAGE OF PAINT DRYING, ANGLE STILL ADVERTISED FOR SHOWS AND MORE
by Buck Woodward
For those that didn't get enough of it last night, WWE.com has posted additional footage of Maria watching paint dry. She is eventually joined by Eugene, who takes over watching the wall (and tastes the paint). If you wish, you can check it out by clicking here.
Chris sent this along. ... I just wanted to send along word. For those of us in St. Louis who actually watch Smackdown. Our UPN affiliate (WRBU 46) has already switched to My Network TV. With the CW not launching until the end of the month and our local CW affiliate (KPLR 11) not showing Smackdown, WRBU 46 has decided to air Smackdown early Sunday mornings at 3:00 am. It's a horrible timeslot, but if anyone is interested in setting their VCR's or DVR's, there is the info you need to do it.
Thanks to Adam Lebow for this one. ... During Raw tonight in Canada, WWE was still advertising that Kurt Angle would team with King Booker against Batista and Rey Mistero at the Smackdown house show in Ottawa, during the upcoming Canadian swing. Obviously this match isn't happening.
WWE NEWS ON LOW SMACKDOWN RATING, VINNIE MAC CHANNELING VINCE RUSSO, GREAT KHALI SUSPENDED, SMACKDOWN NOTES AND MORE
Well, after more than sixty hours, I got my power back late yesterday afternoon. I was never much of a camper or a fan of roughing it, but after the last few days, it's safe to say I am even less a fan of it now. But, I also realize compared to the people who have been through things like Hurricane Katrina, I have nothing to complain about. I want to take a second to thank Mike and Buck for minding the store while I was in the dark. I greatly appreciate it.
Since Buck filled in on the Raw thoughts today, I did an Elite audio hotline with my thoughts on the show for those of you who want to listen.
WWE felt the drop off of the Fox-owned stations that had carried Smackdown until last week when Smackdown did just a 1.9 cable rating, with a 3 share. I expect that the rating will stay soft for the next few weeks until the CW network debuts.
So, Vince McMahon will be in the main event against Triple H at MSG next week? Why is it my first thought was Vince Russo putting the WCW Title on himself in his hometown of Long Island years ago? Hopefully, Vinnie Mac doesn't have anything as self-serving planned for next Monday.
I can't make this up. IndiaEnews.com is reporting that Great Khali has been suspended from his job in India, where his is an assistant sub-inspector with Punjab Armed Police (PAP). Why? For the most logical of reasons, he hasn't reported to work because he has been in the US working for WWE!
There's a story in today's Columbus Ledger Enquirer promoting tonight's Smackdown taping. It features quotes from King Booker. To read it, click here.
Speaking of tonight's Smackdown, if you are going to the taping tonight, please send us a report. You can do so by clicking here.
Brian Bunch sent this. ... Since UPN 11 in Gainesville will be My Network TV, WWE Smackdown and all other UPN prime time will be airing at midnight so Smackdown will be on Friday Night / Saturday Morning at Midnight.
Leo Jankowski added this. ... Since My Network TV debuted today in Denver there is no UPN or CW yet. Friday Night Smackdown will air on its "old" channel KTVD which is now My Network TV, at 11:00 am local time. My Comcast guide reads that it will also play at 5 p.m. on September 16th, which seems odd as the show should premiere on channel 2 KWGN on the 15th. So that airing date may change. So it looks now that this week's Smackdown will be on Saturday morning at 11.
Alberto Ablanedo sent word that WWE has announced in Spain that they will be running in the country on 12/6 and 12/7.
