Welcome to PWInsider.com's coverage of TNA Victory Road.
Countdown to Victory Road
They showed Kazarian backstage, then Steve Maclin entering the venue.
Cedric Alexander vs. Trey Miguel vs. Zach Wentz.
Lots of good athletic wrestling and dives early on. Cedric nailed a series of German suplexes to control the ring. He scored several two counts. Alexander nailed a suplex on both Rascalz at the same time. He drilled Zach with a running forearm in the corner and nailed a dropkick to the back of the head. Cedric charged but was caught with a big boot.
The Rascalz began double-teaming Alexander. Zach began cleaning house with some great offense on both Trey and Cedric. Alexander snatched him with a Michinoku Driver for a close two count. Trey cinched him a Muta Lock on Cedric after taking out Zach. Alexander nearly tapped but Wentz came off the top with a swanton to break it up. Wentz scored the pinfall with the UFO cutter.
Your winner, Zachary Wentz!
Good, fun opener.
Gia Miller interviewed TNA International Champion Steve Maclin. He was cutting a promo saying that when he was done with Kazarian, he would be crowned King Nothing. Judas Mesias randomly showed up and stared down Maclin.
They aired a Maclin vs. Kazarian video package.
AJ Francis hosted an edition of The First Class Penthouse. He mocked the Canadian fans and put over his Houston Texans gear, which led to a "Let's go Oilers" chant. He praised Trick Williams as TNA Champion and mocked the locker room complaining about Trick and showing up at the WWE Performance Center pretending to be tough guys. He complained he wasn't being given the right star treatment, then took off his jacket to showcase a Florida Panthers shirt. That got Edmonton booing because they lost the Stanley Cup to them twice. He said he would cheer the fans up with a listening party for his new album but when he called for it to start, instead Matt Hardy's theme song played.
Francis complained about Hardy coming out, but Matt said he was here to save the show. He said no one wants to hear Francis' music, but instead they want to hear the iconic Hardys theme. AJ Francis compared about the "oldest" Tag Team title match in history at Bound for Glory. He said that fans wanted to see First Class in that match. Hardy asked him what alternative universe he was living in. Hardy said he and Jeff created the tag team ladder match and they created TLC and the Cinematic match. They have created more than any other tag team in history while First Class has created headaches and boredom. Francis threatened to kick his ass. The crowd chanted for Hardy. Hardy dared him to do it. They brawled. Francis got the better of the exchange with a cheap shot and chokeslammed Hardy through a table. The announcers played it up as Hardy vs. Francis taking place later tonight. Fine as an angle.
They aired an Order 4 vs. The System video feature.
The System, including the returning JDC, came to the ring. Moose was not with them as he was preparing for his match. Eddie Edwards said it felt good to bring TNA to Edmonton. He said they are banned from ringside during Moose's match as is Order 4. He said JDC was back. They don't want to wait for Bound for Glory to get their hands on Order 4. They asked the fans if they wanted to see them kick ass right now.
Santino Marella came out. He said it'll be AJ vs. Hardy as long as Hardy is cleared by medical. He said Order 4 vs. The System will open Victory Road.
VICTORY ROAD 2025
Order 4 (The Great Hands and Special Agent Zero) with Tasha Steelz vs. The System (Brian Myers & JDC & Eddie Edwards) with Alisha Edwards
Zero, making his in-ring debut, manhandled Myers. Zero nailed a big suplex. The Great Hands worked over Myers. Hotch was taken down and JDC tagged in. He went Hotch into the buckles, then nailed a slingshot legdrop. He nailed a Falcon Arrow on Hotch for a two count. Zero entered the ring but The System triple-teamed him and sent Zero to the floor. Dango nailed an Alabam Jam on Hotch and scored the pin.
Your winners, The System!
OK opener. Short. I loved that the legdrop off the top was the clean finisher.
They aired the official opening of the PPV.
TNA Knockouts Champion Ash by Elegance came to the ring to discuss the state of the Knockouts Championship. The word making the rounds the last few days was that she wasn't cleared to wrestle. TNA President Carlos Silva and Santino Marella were in the ring. Ash said this was going to be difficult. She said she came here a year ago and TNA became her home. She came to elevate the title and represent the company. She said she's no longer able to compete and do what she loves to do. She announced she was stepping away from in-ring competition and was forfeiting the title. She said she is confident that the rest of the locker room can elevate the title. She told the crowd that they gave her the best moments of her life and she'll miss them. The speech came off like she was done, but I don't know that she is. Ash went to the back.
Santino said that he had to announce tonight's scheduled Knockouts title bout will be moved to Thursday. They will have a battle royal and the final competitors will compete to crown a new champion. That's happening right now.
Battle Royal
NXT's Kelani Jordan was among those in match. Dani Luna showed off her power. The IInspiration preened. Everyone battled. Jody Threat was tossed. The Angel Warriors teamed to work over Luna. M and Heather by Elegance battled in the ring. Xia was tossed out by Luna. Lee and Luna battled. Luna nailed a big clothesline. Luna tried to toss over Lei Ying Lee but everyone else went after her and over she went to the floor. The IInspiration battled Heather and M. Lee and Jordan became the last two after eliminating all four.
Kelani Jordan vs. Lei Ying Lee with Indi Hartwell as the guest referee is set for later tonight to crown a new champion.
This was what it was. A short Battle Royal.
Gia Miller interviewed Indi Hartwell. She's going to call it right down the middle and will see how hard they will push themselves. At Bound for Glory, they are going to get the best version of Hartwell.
