Wrestling Open MA
5/15/25 Worcester, MA
Spotlight Match: Love Doug vs JGeorge
It’s some cupid shenanigans vs director shenanigans. Big Business’s resident cupid prevails with a Slice of Love for the three. Fun start.
Match 1: Eye Black Jack Pasquale vs Tyler Jordan
Jordan’s moniker is “Untouchable” so Jack touches him. Jordan is a bigger dude and spends a good chunk of time on top, dominating with big slams and strikes. Jack rallies with the crowd and makes the comeback and puts Jordan away with the big uranage.
Match 2: Paris Van Dale vs Spike Nishimura
Spike doesn’t have the best record against Paris and the early going of this match shows why: Paris turns around Spike’s early
momentum and just clubs her mercilessly. Spike hits a Michanoku driver in a sudden comeback but Paris crushes her with a sitout chicken wing driver. Good move and a dominating win for Paris’ Worcester return.
Match 3: Pedro Dones vs Jay Tunis
We’ve stopped referring to Tunis as Robocop, we heard he likes it. Now, we’re calling him a Cybertruck. Solid back and forth match, Dones throwing out the required “we’s”. Tunis trying to bully his experiential senior…and just before Dones can put him away, Tunis runs to the back. Eye Black Jack catches him at the stairs and sends him back to the ring to eat a Shoulderbreaker and a three count.
Match 4: José Zamora vs Corey Duke (Discovery Gauntlet)
You know the rules! You gotta win it to stay in it! Zamora is back for week 2. Duke is “Mr Saturday Night”. He’s a cowboy. Generally speaker, we don’t LOVE cowboys here. but he has a prepared statement that indicates he will never support the Stetson Ranch. We love him now. Zamora? F*** this guy. He’s got his live stream and his stupid mic around his neck. Duke is ripped but a smaller guy so he’s hit those believable cowboy lariats and mixing in a little bit of good cruiserweight style offense. Doesn’t matter though, Zamora hits a leapfrog cutter for the three.
Match 5: Brad Hollister vs DJ Powers
DJ has been bragging for weeks that he’s only the 5th man to pin Brad Hollister. Bacon is SICK of it and spends a long time inflicting heavy artillery on this kid. Powers blocked the tornado jackhammer with a dragon screw sending Bacon off the top and tweaking that previously injured knee. DJ working over that target. Bacon surviving, and even making DJ apologize profusely. But we’re running close to the time limit. DJ off the top but he eats knees. Bacon can’t hit the jackhammer at first but a second attempt hits the mark with ten seconds on the clock. DJ gets a foot on the rope and we have a time limit draw. Very good match. DJ pretends like he won but really? He survived.
Match 6: Aaron Rourke vs Zak Patterson
Zak wowed us at Please Come Back when he pretty much murdered Rain Conway. This is a hell of a step up the Open ladder for him tonight. The start is a little slow but servic, Zak not really showing much of that explosiveness he showed a few weeks ago. Rourke gets caught though and Zak lands that big double rotation F5. Rourke kicks out. It’s a fast paced match in the final few minutes as they try to wrap it up. Zak catches Rourke with a bomb coming off the top and gets a clean three after a tornado flatliner in a little over ten minutes. I suspect this was a longer form than Zak is used to working, he definitely seemed to be struggling with the power stuff in the finale sequence but Rourke got him there. That said, what an upset WIN!
Main Event: Swipe Right (Brad Baylor & Ricky Smokes)(c) vs Star Struck (Anthony Greene & Channing Thomas) (for the Wrestling Open Tag Team Championships)
The collective hatred of Worcester towards Swipe Right gets right under the champ’s skin. Star struck owns the opening stanza but Swipe Right are a pair of cheapskates, knocking Channing off the apron and leaving AG to the wolves. It’s a long beatdown and a lot of double teaming but Greene survives nearly ten minutes of heat to get the tag to a hot to go Channing Thomas. Thomas cracks his own head open With a spear to the post but he’s still rolling! They block the Super Swipe! AG with a frogsplash on Baylor for two! The crowd believes! Thomas is crimson. Huge bomb into an alligator clutch! Baylor barely gets out of danger! Smokes back into it and drops Channing! Greene eats that Magic Killer variant but kicks out! Baylor eats a Doomsday European Uppercut! Smokes with the save! This is awesome! Channing drops Smokes with a tornado kick but Ro it pulls him out of the ring and drops him with a superkick. AG trying to finish Baylor but Smokes slingshots in with a spear and the Super Swipe connects for the three. Awesome match, not the result Worcester wanted. Swipe Right preens as the show ends.
