They aired a great video package in the importance of Wrestlemania. It was really nice to hear Howard Finkel's voice.
Adam Pearce and Nick Aldis came to the ring. Aldis said this was the biggest Wrestlemania of all time. Tonight's attendance is 72,543.
MAIN EVENT TIME
Big entrances for Cody Rhodes ad Seth Rollins.
Lots of pyro, special effects and flames for The Rock, who came out with The People's Champ title that Lonnie li bestowed upon him last night at the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony. This has a massive big fight feel live in Philly
Roman, as he should have, was given the final entrance. The production here is absolutely great.
No Brandi Rhodes at ringside. She was backstage earlier.
Samantha Irving's ring announcements for this were incredible, on a Howard Finkel level.
I am told they are going LONG.
Big dramatic staredown to start. Seth and Roman started. Cody wanted it and the crowd popped for him tagging in. Cody and Seth cornered Roman, and Rock didn't exactly leap in to help. Roman tagged Rocky in for the first time in many years into a ring and he battled Seth.
Rock called in Cody and Cody obliged. The crowd got up for this as they faced off. Cody had a early advantage. He and Seth double-teamed Rock. Roman entered the ring but was nailed as well. They started brawling. Seth grabbed a Prime drink and misted Rock with it. Roman and Cody brawled up the aisle. The referee Chad Patton began counting out everyone but Rock told him that if he counted, he was fired.
Rock and Cody battled into the crowd. Cody and Roman battled on the stage. Cody suplexed Roman on the stage. Rock nailed Seth with a trash can. They battled back to the ringside area. Seth was going to go after the Rock but Roman took his knee out as he knocked Seth to the floor. Rock immediately attacked the knee, having a weak link to exploit. Roman and Rock tagged in and out, with Rollins at their mercy. Reigns cinched on a one-legged Boston Crab. Rollins was manhandled and beaten on the floor, tossed into the ring steps.
Back in the ring, Roman nailed clothesline after clothesline in the corner. Rollins was worked over for a long time. Seth sent Roman to the floor and went for the tag but Roman knocked Cody off the apron. Rock locked a Sharpshooter on Seth but Cody slapped him in the face. Seth fought back and sent Rock into the corner, superkicked and stomped him but his knee was hurting.
Seth and Rock tagged out. Cody and Roman battled. Cody nailed a nice scoop slam and nailed a Disaster Kick. He nailed the Cody Cutter. Roman nailed the Superman Punch after escaping a CrossRhodes attempt. He scored a two count. Reigns was bleeding from the nose or mouth. He went for a spear but Cody sunset flipped him for a two count. Roman was nailed by a Cody Cutter and Seth splash for a two count.
Cody went to cover Roman but Rock pulled the ref out...well, he tried. He succeeded on attempt two. Reigns speared Cody and Rock tossed ref Chad Patton back in but Cody still kicked out. Rock wasn't happy. Philly chanted for Cody. Reigns cinched in a guillotine choke. Cody tried to fight out but Reigns sunk it in. Cody fought back but Rock tripped him and held him while trying to help Roman choke out Cody. Seth stomped Roman's face to stop the submission.
Rock realized Mama Rhodes at ringside and brought the belt to her to mock him. Rock went to the ring but Cody kicked him. They teased Cody would get the belt but was nailed. They battled and Cody got the better of him, hitting the Bionic Elbow. Rock nailed a spinebuster and went for the People's Elbow but Cody shocked him with The Cody Cutter. He went for the Cross Rhodes but was nailed with the Superman Punch.
Roman went for a spear but Cody is pulled away by Seth, so Rock EATS the spear. PHILLY LOST IT.
Stereo Pedigrees. The Bloodline kicked out at the last second and Philly lost their minds again, chanting "This is awesome."
Bloodline went to the floor. Seth hit a dive on Roman. Cody and Rock battled. Cody was sent into the steps. Rock set up the announcing table. He slammed Cody on it but it didn't budge. He teased a Rock Bottom on the table but Seth nailed him. Cody hit a Rock Bottom through a table. Reigns speared Seth through a barricade.
Philly was loving every frigging second of this.
Cody brought Rock into the ring but Roman caught him with the Driveby. Roman tagged himself back in but was selling his shoulder was hurt from the spear. Cody and Roman battled back and forth with fists. Cody nailed a series of CrossRhodes but was lashed by the Rock. Roman speared him. Rock wanted to be tagged in and Roman allowed it.
Rock nailed a Rock Bottom. Rock nailed The People's Elbow and scored the pin.
As I wrote in the Tip Sheet, The Rock wasnt getting a massive payday to come back and lose.
An absolutely excellent main event.
Cody has to overcome this loss to try and win the title.
Seth has to overcome injury to try and retain his.
Great cliffhangers leading to Night Two.......tonight was The Empire Strikes Back. Will be Return of the Jedi tomorrow?
