11-time Tag Team Champions, The New Day, are introduced. Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston come out first and point to the entrance for Big E to join them!
Xavier Woods says that it’s been a very long time since all three of them have stood together in a WWE ring. However, tonight - it’s not about them. It’s about commemorating a man with charisma and oratory skills - Thunderbolt Patterson. Patterson told them, “I love people.” He helped so many people and brought them together. He pushed for equal and fair pay so that the future of professional wrestling would be better for everyone. He looked bigotry in the face so that others can do what they love in the future. Without Thunderbolt Patterson, The New Day says that they don’t get to do what they have done and continue to do.
“AWWWWWWW, PHILLY - DON’T YOU DARE BE SOUR! CLAP FOR YOUR WWE HALL OF FAMER, THUNDERBOLT PATTERSON!”
Thunderbolt Patterson and Steve Spears
On the way to the ring, Thunderbolt Patterson gets out of his wheelchair to hug Gerald Brisco and JBL.
They show a video package for Thunderbolt Patterson. It focuses on how great Thunderbolt Patterson was at talking and how he was able to connect to the fans. It shows how people in the industry have taken from what Thunderbolt Patterson did first.
Steve Spears talks about how it’s an honor to be there as a wrestling fan. He talks about how great Thunderbolt Patterson was. Patterson would always say more by saying less. Spears says that Patterson is the Jackie Robinson of professional wrestling. Spears tells a story about when Thunderbolt Patterson had to deal with racism while working in Texas. The industry is better because Thunderbolt was and is in it. The crowd chants for Thunderbolt.
Thunderbolt Patterson says, “I must pray. Is that alright? Our father in heaven, I come this evening as humble as I know how. I come as an empty pitcher before a full fountain, knowing that you have all the power to fulfill and supply all of my needs.” He was taught that what you say and think comes back to you. He thanks the lord and a few good people. It’s time to treat people the way you want to be treated.
He then gives credit to Gerald Brisco and a few other wrestlers, including Brian Blair, for helping him in his career. He tells everyone to be good to each other before exiting.
