Wrestling Open - Week 112 “The Finish Line”

Part 2 of my Wrestling Open catchup rally continues. We’re at THE FINISH LINE! The Jumbo Grand Prix wraps up and it’s a hell of a final! Lauren St. James is your announcer this week, filling in for Rich Palladino. Paul Crockett is on commentary with Denver Colorado tonight. Brother Greatness is not cleared to be at Open this week, due to last week’s attack from the Ranch. 

Match 1: RJ Rude & Rex Lawless vs Love Doctors (Landon Hale & Love, Doug)

What a weird match this is going to be. Landon and RJ kick this off. Landon making his connection with Doug after an arm drag takeover. RJ is arguing with Rex? Landon runs in and rolls up RJ. He gets the three out of the blue! It’s clean, no cheating. RJ got CAUGHT and Rex looks embarrassed. RJ and Rex are having some WORDS…but they hug it out. What exactly just happened?

Match 2: Elle Valentine vs Ivy Malibu

Elle has been impressive in her previous outings here….but let’s see how she does against the debuting Ivy Malibu. Ivy is kinda jacked. Muscle pose right out of the curtain. Why does Elle just have an energy drink in her hand. Ivy with the double leg and unloads hard shots. Ivy with the takeover and latches onto the neck. She’s clearly very athletic as she blasts a backstabber for two. Elle muscles her over with a powerslam but not enough power there. The running senton pancakes her. Hard corner lariats are taking the wind out of Ivy’s sails. Running boot wash. Ivy getting out muscled for a bit here. Ivy with a running shoulder block! Kick to the gut! X factor from the second! Elle runs into a flatliner for two. Elle just tosses her off of a tornado move. Valentine blasts a spear! Elle destroys Malibu with a snap northern lights for her first win at Open!

Winner: Elle Valentine

Match 3: Marcus Mathers vs Dustin Waller

What a match this has the potential to be! And right out of the gate, they are both going for the kill shot. If not for a couple of quick dodges, this could have ended as fast as the opener. The crowd doesn’t want them to fight…they want them to hug. Mathers baits in Waller with a gut kick. Waller goes so tranquilo and Mathers is NOT happy about this. Waller with a launch over the ropes to the floor. This is pretty back and forth, both guys getting in each other’s heads. Waller wants to continue proving himself as a singles. Mathers is here to prove that not being in the Jumbo Grand Prix was a huge oversight. Waller dropped into the apron. Ow. Swinging gut buster to Waller for two. Mathers trying to close this out. A hard chop cuts Dustin in half. Dustin firing back up and they are trading wildly! Waller with a mizline and springboard elbow! To the top, Mathers dodges the flash splash….Waller hits a michanoku driver for two! Waller trying to run but Mathers grabs his foot. Is he begging off? Waller doesn’t want to hear it and drops bombs on the kid. Flash tries the handspring cutter but Marcus dropkicks him in the face! Huge powerbomb out of the corner for two! This is a blast. Marcus with a spinning kick! Dustin hits the poisonrana! Handspring cutter! Flash splash for the three! Hell of a contest! Mathers is frustrated but Dustin invites him back in for the handshak. Mathers goes for the hug!

Winner: Dustin Waller

Match 4: Shook Crew (Bobby Orlando & Bryce Donovan) vs Catch & Release (Seabass Finn & Sean Keegan)

So…..these are the opponents that Brick City chose to face Shook Crew. If Shook Crew beats them in under five minutes, they MIGHT get a title shot. The crowd is here to see this end in under five. Five. FIVE. FIVE! FIVE! Finn and Keegan are keen to waste time and run down the clock on the outside. Bryce with a quick roll up and Finn rolls right to the floor after the kick out. Finn is just spending most of the first minute on the floor. Bryce tries to bring him in but eats a top rope jaw jacker. Bryce with a double suplex. Tandem falcon arrow to Keegan for two! Orlando trying to pull in Keegan but he’s trying to get to the floor. Bobby eats the second buckle. Mom is getting double teamed but a miscommunication gets Donovan back into the ring with two minutes to go. Finn flies into a choke slam! Keegan pulls Finn to safety! Suicide goat dive! Finn caught alone…Virtue signal! Shook Crew gets the win in 4:04.

Winners: Shook Crew

Is Brick City going to accept the Crew’s challenge NOW? Shook Crew calls out “Bish City”. They are coming for the Eliminator Cup Medals and Brick City should be SHOOK. 

Match 5: Brian Milonas vs Jermaine Marbury

Like the last match, there’s some championship dreams on the line here. Marbury needs to beat Brian Milonas to get a second shot at Brad Hollister. Now, Milonas definitely seems like the kind of hired gun to get the job done. In theory, Benny the Basketball is not Brad Hollister this week. Milonas is definitely confused by the basketball mascot. Kingpin absolutely overpowering the less-experienced Marbury. This is some classic Milonas confidence. Marbury trying to be quick but Milonas is keeping this kid where he wants him. Every time Jermaine is looking good, Milonas just blasts him over. Marbury tries a rollup? Bad move and Milonas just drops a huge elbow. Benny rallying for D FENCE! Milonas has the straps down. Squish. Jermaine kicks out but Milonas is getting distracted by the very presence of Benny. Marbury with a dodge on the seated senton….Milonas destroys the kid with a low cross body. How is Marbury still kicking out? Kingpin is going after Benny. Benny grabs a chair to defend himself but Milonas grabs it and brings it into the ring. The ref gets Milonas to drop the chair…Benny with the distract on the ref…Marbury grabs the chair and does a Guerrero fake out. Ref Scott turns back around, sees Marbury down, sees Milonas with the chair….Milonas is DQ’d! “I got next” say Marbury.

Winner: Jermain Marbury

Match 6: The Kellys vs Waves & Curls (Jaylen Bradyn & Traevon Jordan)

Waves & Curls is absolutely here to get some measure of revenge on the Kellys. It’s going well for about five minutes. Jaelyn is taking a measure of heat from the Kellys. Traevon gets in there is just fight them both, legal man be damned. Brandyn tossed. Travel off the ropes but then the Kellys trip him up. He gets his leg smashed with a crutch drawing the DQ. They grab a cinder block and Blast the clutch right into it. Traevon is screaming in pain as the ref run out to make the save. Jaelyn looks on in concern but the Kellys grab him for a double slam. It’s a bad night to be Waves & Curls. The Kellys are laughing as they see W&C getting helped out of the ring. 

Winners: Waves & Curls (by DQ)

Match 7: Dezmond Cole vs Brad Baylor

Baylor needs to bounce back after getting ejected from the Jumbo Grand Prix last week. Dezmond Cole is looking for a warmup before his clash with Lio Rush at Beyond Wrestling’s Kick on Sunday…and maybe a little revenge for getting eliminated from the JGP Quarterfinals. Baylor trying to pie face Cole and Dezmond gives him a realigning smack. Baylor trying to grind Cole down with a headlock and a series of stomps. This is looking dire but Boofa flies in with a split legged stunner! Cole up top. High cross body! Cole throwing shots. Enziguri! Sitout slam! Rolling leg drop for two! Baylor dodges a spinning kick but turns right into a suplex! Cole blasts a lariat….Baylor kicks out! Baylor dodges a top rope dive but turns into a superkick! Cole with another split legged dodge but Baylor is ready and smashes a knee to the face. Angels Wings! Cole landing kicks, comes running…Baylor with a spine buster! Boofa escapes a fireman’s cary. Rollup and a bridge….Cole gets him!

Winner: Dezmond Cole

Main Event: Fancy Ryan Clancy vs TJ Crawford (Jumbo Grand Prix Finals)

Clancy has wanted revenge on TJ Crawford ever since he was betrayed in the formation of Big Business last year. The Tony Rumble Memorial Cup is on the line but sweet sweet revenge is the real prize. Fancy is looking serious as hell as he hits the ring in a full on ring robe. He still has his Call Your Shot contract in hand. If he wins here, does he get TWO title shots? That could be a hell of an advantage. Clancy and TJ head to head before the bell and through the introductions. The bell rings and they go RIGHT TO IT. Clancy wins the initial exchange and sends TJ scrambling to the floor. Cannonball to the floor! Fancy rips the bug business shirt off his torso and chops up TJ. Crawford tries to take control but Clancy slams him to the boards as the crowd sings his name. Fancy neck twist! More chops around the corners. This is alllllll Fancy Ryan Clancy, getting all the payback he could ever want. TJ dodges the finishing dropkick and starts dropping bombs on his former partner. Crawford with a back suplex. The MAYOOOOO chants are picking up as TJ is deep in control. He tries a springboard but Clancy dumps him over the top and just supermans to the floor. TJ trying some kicks but Clancy picks the ankle and sinks into a single crab. Crawford fights to the rope but Clancy just stomping at his head. This is the level of aggression we’re getting tonight. Snap German! Elbow to the chin but Crawford is still able to kick out! Clancy wants the side Russian…TJ fights it off. Clancy tries a bomb but TJ spears the knee and hits a shining wizard! Clancy looking dazed but he’s kicking out. TJ landing some slaps as he talks down to Clancy. The crowd rallying behind Clancy….TJ bounces off the ropes…and right into the KO dropkick! Clancy makes the cover….TJ kicks out!!! Trading shots as they try to get back to their feet….back and forth with abandon! TJ wants the silver bullet but Clancy beat him to the kick….Clancy collapses into the pin. Crawford kicks out! The drag themselves to the apron. Clancy throwing hands but TJ blasts a kick. Clancy escapes a burning hammer and dot’s TJ to the apron! Fancy splash? Nobody home! Both trying to a kill shot. TJ hits the silver bullet! Clancy out at 2.999999! TJ is stunned! Clancy can barely stand as he goads TJ on. He dares TJ to put him down. Crawford finally apologizes to Clancy and offers a hand. Clancy takes the hand…..TJ whips Clancy into the ref! Clancy attacks TJ and fights into the ropes….TJ with a blatant low blow and rolls up Clancy with some ample tights in hand to get the three. The crowd HATES this. Clancy is devastated as TJ holds the trophy on high.

But wait, Clancy grabs his Call Your Shot contract. “I think you’re forgetting something”. Clancy can cash it in whenever he wants for whatever he wants….and what he wants is the match to be restarted RIGHT NOW. The ref takes the trophy back from a furious TJ. TJ runs into a flying knee! Clancy hits a Silver Bullet on TJ. Side Russian leg sweep! Clancy gets the three!!!!! Hell of a finish.

The crowd is overjoyed to see Clancy holding the trophy on high. Tj rolls out and crawls to the back, after having his ill-gotten victory snatched away.
