NEW CHAMPIONS CROWNED, TWO DEBUTS AND A LOT OF GREAT WRESTLING: TNA HARD TO KILL 2024 PPV COVERAGE

By Mike Johnson on 2024-01-13 19:00:00

Josh Alexander vs. Alexander Hammerstone

This is the debut for Hammerstone, the former MLW Champion.  He is not signed to the company, but if he has a strong showing here, one would think that's just a formality.

Hammerstone used his power early but Alexander used his wrestling wizardy to thwart him.  Hammerstone sent him to the floor and nailed a pescado to the outside.  Back in the ring, Alexander kicked Hammerstone's legs out from under him.  He backed Hammerstone into the corner and worked on his leg.  Hammerstone cut him off with shoulderblocks and chops.  Alexander took  Hammerstone to the mat and went back to attacking the leg with an elbow to the knee.  He kept  Hammerstone on the mat as the fans came alive with dueling chants.

Hammerstone went for a Fall Away Slam but Alexander landed outside on the apron.  Hammerstone went for a kick but was caught in the ropes.  Alexander slammed him HARD on the apron outside.  They battled on the floor with  Hammerstone's back being targeted by Alexander.    Back in the ring, he nailed the Rolling Senton and nailed a knee off the ropes for a two count.   Hammerstone was trapped in the anklelock.   Hammerstone kicked him off but was kicked in the face.   Hammerstone didn't like that.

Hammerstone began psyching himself up as Alexander nailed him.  He caught Josh in a powerslam press and then slammed him before shaking the ropes like The Ultimate Warrior.   Hammerstone nailed a series of clotheslines in the corner and charged, but his knee began bothering him.  He still caught Alexander with a powerslam for a two count.   Hammerstone went for a Pendulum but Alexander escaped and locked the anklelock on again.  He locked it again and grapevined the leg.   Hammerstone teased tapping but instead fought his way to the ropes.    He finally made it.  Alexander was showing frustation the move didn't finish the match.

Hammerstone charged for a move but his knee gave out.  Alexander went for the C4 Spike but Hammerstone avoided and nailed the Nightmare Pendulum.  He took a moment and went to make the cover but Alexander had rolled to the ropes.  They are telling a very good story.  Hammerstone and Alexander battled outside on the apron.   Hammerstone nailed a DVDR on the apron and rolled Alexander back into the ring.    He came off the top with a big missile dropkick and nailed a TKO but Alexander kicked out at the last second.

They battled back and forth with chops and strikes.   Hammerstone nailed Alexander with a sit-out powerbomb for a two count.  They battered each other until Alexander scored the pinfall with the C4 Spike.

Your winner, Josh Alexander!

They told a really damn good physical story early on before going into the bigger spots and near falls.  Very good.

They aired a video feature on the TNA Tag Team Championship.

TNA Tag Team Champions ABC vs. Grizzled Young Veterans vs. The Rascalz vs. Laredo Kid & Mike Bailey.

Lots of back and forth sequences before all eight faced off.  The GYVs worked over Bailey, who came back with a series of rapid fire kicks.  The GYVs used a blind tag to dazzle him with dropkicks.  Zack Gibson worked over Bailey as the crowd chanted to rally Speedball.  The Rascalz tagged in and continue the onslaught on Bailey.  .  He kicked them off and tagged into Laredo Kid.  He unloaded with hot moves.  Wentz caught him in the corner but Laredo slammed him out of the buckles for a two count.

ABC tagged in and controlled the ring with their signature doubleteam maneuvers.  Austin got caught on the ropes and twisted his ankle but looked to be OK.  Laredo and Bailey nailed a series of kicks.  GYVs tried to pick the bones and almost pinned Chris Bey.  They nailed a Doomsday Device on Wentz for a close two count.  Bailey nailed a big moonsault to the floor. Laredo Kid was caught in the corner by GYV's James Drake but Bailey nailed a reverse rana off the top.

Bailey nailed Ultima Weapon on Drake but The Rascalz broke it up.  Trey leapt over the top and nailed a rana off the apron to the floor on Laredo.  The Rascalz doubleteamed The GYVs, scoring several two counts.  The Rascalz and ABC faced off and began brawling center-ring.   The ABC hit the Art of Finesse followed by The Fold for the pin.

Your winners and still TNA Tag Team Champions ABC!

A fun sprint with everyone working super hard.
