By Mike Johnson on 2023-10-28 19:00:00

Welcome to PWInsider.com's live, ongoing coverage of the New York Wrestling Connection's The Space Between from The Space at Westbury in Long Island, NY!

The Space Between Battle Royal.

It was a lot of punching and kicking early on as the weeded through the early eliminations.  A1G, who showed some really good potential, was the winner.  There were a ton of names in this I hadn't seen before.  They all worked hard.

Milk Chocolate, Randy Summers & Brandon Watts vs. Dirty Deedz, Dirty Moore & Johnny Malloy

Mike Chocolate were on fire early on with big tag team offense.  You can see they've gained a lot of confidence in recent years.  They were in control for the early portion of the match and scored several two counts.  They had the crowd reacting for all of their heel work and offensive maneuvers.  Deedz were perfect foil for them, being in the right place at the right time.  MC nailed a double underhook DDT into their knees for the pin.  This was very entertaining and a great showcase for MK's work and personalities.  Good tag team bout.

Your winners, Milk Chocolate!

Joey Conway vs. Salvatore Savelli to crown top contender for NYWC Championship.

Conway tried to cheap shot Savelli at the bell but was ran out of the ring.  Conway played cowardly heel early, getting the crowd to chant that he sucks.  The crowd is about 700 or so and really loud.  Savelli nailed him with a clothesline that sent him over the top and then hit a tope to the outside.  Conway cut him off after they returned to the ring, working over his back with big shots.  The crowd was again all over him as he stomped Savelli.

Joey worked over Savelli for some time and locked on a crossface, trying to force a submission.  Savelli fought for the ropes but was pulled back.  He finally escaped and drilled him with right hands.  Conway went right back to the arm but Savelli unloaded with a series of chops and a clothesline.    Savelli nailed a Famouser for a close two count.  The move got a big reaction.  Savelli locked on a figure four but Conway grabbed his hair to break it.  Savelli came back and locked it in center ring.    Conway escaped and was worked over in the ropes but caught Savelli with a Hot Shot.  He followed up with a slam and went to the top rope.  Conway nailed a 450 splash but Savelli kicked up.  That got a big pop.

They battled to the ropes, where Savelli nailed a top rope rana for a two count.  He nailed a curb stomp for a two count.    Conway used a rollup and tried to use the ropes but the referee caught him.  Savelli rolled him up but when Conway kicked out, he almost hit the referee.  As he apologized, Conway pulled out a foreign object and drilled him, scoring the pin.

Your winner, Joey Conway!

Good back and forth bout that kept the crowd happy.

Alex Reynolds vs. Michael Mistretta with NYWC Starlet Champion Amity Lavey

This was originally a three-way with Tracy Williams, who was called away for AEW/ROH duties.

Lots of good wrestling early as they sized each other up.  Reynolds was babyface here.  Mistretta, who has really upped his game, cut of Reynolds and worked him over on the floor.  He set up Reynolds on the apron and nailed several kicks.  Back in the ring, Mistretta controlled Reynolds, who fired back with chops.  Mistretta sent him over the top to the floor.  Amity sent Reynolds hard into the ring post.  Reynolds made a comeback but Mistretta nailed him.  Reynolds grabbed him for a backslide, scoring a two count.    Mistretta missed a charge in the corner and was drilled with a running elbow.

Reynolds nailed a neckbreaker and a running boot for a two count.  They battled back and forth.  Reynolds went for a pedigree but Amity distracted him.  That allowed Mistretta to attack and score a two count.  The kids in the crowd were chanting for Reynonds.  Mistretta caught a boot and nailed a back suplex for another two count.  Mistretta locked in a leglock but Reynolds made it to the ropes.

Mistretta distracted the referee, setting up Amity to interfere and nail Reynolds with her title belt.  Dollo Darko, who looked good earlier tonight in the battle royal, hit the ring to attack Amity and they were pulled out and ejected by the officials.  Reynolds scored with a running boot and a piledriver and scored the pin.

Your winner, Alex Reynolds!

Good match.  Mistretta is one to watch.

NYWC Fusion Champion Dan Barry vs. Georgio Lawrence vs. Rex Lawless vs. Sentanta Fury vs. Ryan Clancy.

Everyone battled at once.  Lawless was the powerhouse monster.    Barry and Clancy had some nice exchanges.  Fury threw some good suplexes.  Lots of fast paced spots.    Lawless nailed a rana on Barry, which was quite the sight.  Everyone battled.  This set up a series of dives, culminating with Lawless hitting a flip dive to the floor.  Barry hit a swanton on Lawrence for a two count.  Lots of fast sequences.  Fury missed a moonsault.  Barry nailed a burning hammer.  He was caught with a rollup and pinned by Lawrence.

Your winner and new champion Georgio Lawrence!

If you don't like the spot stuff, this won't be for you but man they hustled and worked hard.  Everyone showed some really good moments.  Barry remains underrated.  Clancy is a star.  Lawrence showed a ton of pontential too.  Lots of fun.
