Konosuke Takeshita w/Don Callis vs Kenny Omega

They start traditionally with headlocks and wristlocks. After Takashita hits a suplex where Kenny lands on his head, they move to a brawl on the floor. They move into the ring and start hitting big moves with Kenny in command.  Kenny grabs an Indian Death Lock and Takeshita tries to fight out and it becomes a slap fight until Takeshita rakes the eyes.

They battle again and then when they go to the outside Takeshita pulls out chairs. The ref grabs the chair from him and as the ref is admonishing Takeshita, Callis stacks chairs onto Kenny, followed by Takeshita hitting a senton onto the chairs. Kenny is rolled into the ring and Takeshita hits a blue thunder bomb for two because no match ever ends with a blue thunder bomb.

Takeshita’s pace is slow and deliberate with big moves, then an attempt at a pin. Kenny is able to get his knees up when Kateshita leaps onto him in the ring and then starts to power up. Kenny hits the Terminator dive in front of the announce table. Back in the ring, Kenny hits a drop kick front he top, snapdragon suplexes, and Takeshita fights out of the third, but instead hits a poisonrana for two.

We then move to Big Moves with recovery after so the crowd can drink it in. I like this match. Not super flashy, just a meat and potatoes match moving from section to section smoothly. Takeshita reverses the one winged angel into a modified pile driver for two. They go back to big striking moves with both men out on their feet.

Takeshita gets an avalanche blue thunder bomb for two. He then hits a V trigger of his own for two. Callis goes to nail Kenny with a screwdriver, but misses and drives it into the mat. Kenny goes into his finishing sequence, and Takeshita has the screwdriver up in the One Winged Angle, but the ref sees it and takes it away. Takeshita reverses the move and they go into a series of moves from Kateshita ending with a V Trigger where Takeshita is able to get the pin and the win.

Winner: Konoshuke Takeshita

The crowd goes into shocked silence.

That was a hard hitting match with a lot of brutal bumps.  Kenny getting dumped on his head was a scary bump early on.  And in the end, Kenny put over Takeshita clean.  Well done, surprising match.

Bullet Club Gold (Jay White, Juice Robinson, Austin and Colton Gunn) vs. FTR (Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood) and The Young Bucks (Nick and Matt Jackson)

The story is going to be: Can the Bucks and FTR work together? Lots of mind games from Bullet Club to start before we get into the match. Cash and Colton work a good series to start off the match and when Dax has things in control, Matt tags himself in. The Bucks start doing what they do and they are NOT popular in front of this crowd.

Our first CM Punk chants break out.

Cash tags himself in and we get him and Jay White again. They mix it up a bit before Juice tags in and that leads to Dax becoming our babyface in peril and Bullet Club keeps him in their corner with quick tags. Dax is able to escape and Cash is tagged in so that they can work over White. Juice is able to tag in and works Cash into the Bullet Club corner.

Then the tag team siren sounds and everyone is in the ring and fighting. FTR and the Bucks all get sharpshooters.

Dax is tagged in and goes to fight Juice, and Juice slingshots him into the ringpost. This gets us back to Dax in the wrong corner, getting worked over. I am kind of surprised that, as the match goes on, we are NOT getting much of the Young Bucks.  Might be smart after their initial crowd reaction.

Dax gets the hot tag to Nick Jackson, and the crowd is all over him with how much they hate him. There are some cheers, but it is, at best, a mixed reaction. They hit a lot of Young Beckery. Cash tags in and Matt almost kicks Cash, but they work it out quickly. Matt assists Dax with a spike pile driver on Colton for two. All 8 men are fighting in the ring. We then get Colton suplexed front he top and both of the Bucks and Cash leap off the top onto him.

The pin is broken up and it’s time for dives and leaps onto the floor until it’s Dax and Austin in the ring alone. They clothesline each other down, and we get a big AEW chant. Jay White tags in and Dax is still down. Jay lays in chops, but Dax absorbs them. He starts firing back and it’s a back and forth until Dax takes over. FTR sets up for Shatter Machine, but Juice cuts them off.

Nick then helps hit the Shatter Machine on one of the Gunns. Jay White takes a BTE trigger from Dax and Nick. Lots of complicated sequences as they lead to Jay White hitting the Blade Runner on Cash, with Colton grabbing the pin and the win.

Winners: Bullet Club Gold

This was a match to make Bullet Club Gold look like stars, and it gave them a huge spotlight. FTR and the Bucks didn’t implode.  I will be REALLY interested to see how the Bucks are treated by fans going forward, and if they lean into it by going heel yet again.

Orange Cassidy (AEW INternational Champion) vs Jon Moxley

Orange Cassidy in the main event.  Got be a HUGE thing for him.  They all have the Big Fight Feel entrances before coming out to the crowd.

Cassidy’s slacker pyro is pretty funny.

Cassidy just stays in his corner and ignores Mox when the bell rings as Mox sets like a boxer. Mox decks Cassidy when he starts the pockets bit and we quickly go to Mox just beating the tar out of him all over the ring. Cassidy sells his neck every time he is suplexed. Cassidy is able to fire up and get a series where he nails Mox and then slams his head in the turnbuckle.

Mox is able to take over again and stomps in Cassidy’s head. Cassidy gets a dive and tries for the spinning DDT, but Mox just tosses him off. They fight on the floor and Mox holds Cassidy away from the camera for a long time before tossing him into the ring post.  So, we see that Cassidy is busted open.  Quell Surprise.

They continue on the floor with Mox beating Cassidy down at the announcer’s table. Cassidy crawls to the ring and Mox just starts beating him down. Cassidy starts throwing hands, and Mox puts his hands in his pants to mock Cassidy. Mox head butts him and takes back over. Casdidy gets a series of DDT attacks and misses an Orange Punch and Mox takes over.

The story is clearly that Mox knows what Cassidy is going to do and is working to just beat all of the power out of Cassidy since Cassidy is already working injured. Mox keeps going for submissions and Cassidy is fighting out of them. Cassidy rolls to the floor to recover. Mox rips up the padding around the ring. Cassidy is able to reverse a pile driver into a beach break on the exposed concrete. Cassidy then runs Mox’s head into the steel steps

Mox gets in the ring at 9, and Cassidy hits a pair of orange punches and then when he tries for a third, Mox gets a cutter. Cassidy is able to get up for another Orange Punch and a spear for two. This leads to Mox hitting finishing sequences and Cassicy popping out at the last second. Cassidy struggles to his feet and flips Mox the double bird.  Mox then hits a high angle death rider for the pin and the win.

Winner and NEW AEW International Champion: Jon Moxley

The Blackpool Combat Club with Danielson help Mox up the ramp and Cassidy is still down in the middle of the ring. He slowly gets to his feet as the crowd chants Thank You Orange as we are out of time!
