Lisa Marie Varon is in the crowd watching.
Savannah Evans vs. Samantha Starr with Baby Doll.
Starr os Baby Doll's daughter who works NWA. Evans is always entertaining on Impact.
Evans showed some nice aggression when they are throwing punches at each other. Evans is the clear favorite as she's from Charlotte. She looked strong early, with Starr retreating to the floor. Back inside, Starr took control and used her boot to choke Evans against the buckles. When the referee interceded, Baby Doll choked Evans. Starr worked over Evans, who fought from underneath and showed some really nice fire. She nailed a running charge in the corner and then a big boot.
Baby Doll passed a foreign object to Starr, who clobbered Evans with them. She pinned Evans.
Your winner, Samantha Starr!
Tommy Dreamer vs. CW Anderson.
Big pops for each and an ECW chant at the bell. They went back and forth with a series of moves before facing off and showing each other respect. That didn't last long as Anderson kicked him in the back of the neck. Dreamer nailed a suplex and went to come off the ropes but Anderson's manager tried to trip him. Anderson worked over Dreamer for a long time as the crowd tried to rally his comeback. Dreamer rolled out of the way of a legdrop. He rained down with right hands in the corner and then bit Anderson.
Dreamer began nailing some clubbbering blows. Anderson blocked an elbow so Dreamer grabbed his, well, nuts. Dreamer nailed a neckbreaker. He went under the ring and brought a chair into the ring. Fans chanted ECW just for the chair. Anderson took him out before he could use it and covered Dreamer for a two count. He came off the ropes but Dreamer nailed him with the chair. Dreamer got shoved into the referee. Anderson nailed a spinebuster and scored a two count.
Dreamer came back with a DDT and scored the pinfall.
Your winner, Tommy Dreamer!
Dreamer called CW back to the ring and told him he appreciates him and thanked him for another great match. He said that he doesn't do a lot of conventions but loves the respect Marty Damato shows the fans and the wrestlers. He said that 2023 was the worst year of his life as he lost his mother and was diagnosed with skin cancer but he keeps trying to go forward and get up. He said that everyone here, including the legends that paved the road, were just trying to live their dream, like he is. This October will mark 30 years for him and he thanked the fans.
2023 Rumble in the Hilton for Nate the Great's TMart Championship.
Lots of talent I am unfamiliar with here. Jackie Fulton was one of the first competitors in. Mr. Hughes was also involved. He had The Undertaker's urn with him. George South came out to a big pop. Gangrel was also involved. The Cuban Assassin hit the ring. Kerry Morton hit the scene. The Barbarian hit the ring. Barbarian and Gangrel brawled to the back. This was long but in the end, Kerry Morton scored the win and that got a big pop. Fun to see the older names.
The Rock N' Roll Express vs. The Headbangers.
The Headbangers got a long, extended introduction.
Ricky Morton came out alone. Thrasher said Robert Gibson had hip surgery from carrying Morton for so long. That was a great line. LOTS of Rock N' Roll chants. Morton said that for years, he's been part of the Rock N' Roll Express. But, he said he was part of another group, The York Foundation. Out came Tommy Rich, Mr.Hughes and Terri Runnels.
Yes, in 2023. The York Foundation reunites. Who could have predicted that?
There was a lot of playing off the crowd. Rich and Morton had control early and the Headbanger couldn't figure out how to get past that. It was all very basic babyface vs. heel stuff but perfect for this show and audience. Morton rolled up Thrasher for the pin.
Your winners, Richard Morton and Thomas Rich!
Well, that was something!
Everyone celebrates in the ring together to say goodnight.
