WWE SMACKDOWN REPORT: TAG TITLE MATCH, WHO QUALIFIED FOR THE RUMBLE?, IS EVERY MILITARY GIMMICK REQUIRED TO USE THE COBRA CLUTCH, AND MORE

By Richard Trionfo on 2023-01-06 21:59:00

We go to footage of Drew McIntyre and Sheamus at Jerry Lawler’s restaurant and Sheamus says he has enjoyed being on the same side the last few months.  He says he is proud to call Drew an Honorary Brute and he hits Drew.  Drew thanks Sheamus and hits him.  Drew talks about the Donnybrook Match and he wonders how they are still standing and he hits Sheamus.  Sheamus says they did that to each other and imagine what they do to the Usos.  They continue to hit each other.

Smackdown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair makes her way to the ring.

Charlotte asks the people if they missed their queen.  She says she misses you too.  She asks what is the catchphrase . . . payback’s a . . .   She tells everyone to ask Ronda because she knows.

Charlotte says she never thought she would hear people thanking her.  She says she was away for eight months and whether you love to hate her or hate to love her, she appreciated the reaction to her title victory last week.  Whether you like to cheer her or boo her (and the crowd cheers and boos), or woooo her.  She is about three things passion, consistency, and dedication to what she does in the ring.  She might be a lot of things to a lot of people, but she is not complacent.  She will demand more.  She says she will knock down any obstacle or anyone who stands in her way.  That is what a champion does.  A champion expects the unexpected and rises to every occasion.  Charlotte says he has done that fourteen times.

Sonya Deville makes her way to the ring and wants everyone to cheer for Charlotte.  She says the hillbillies in the building might not be smart enough to see through her lies.  Sonya says she does.  Sonya says Charlotte should have an asterisk next to title win number fourteen.  You beat a half dead Ronda Rousey.  Congratulations.

How would you fare against a fresh fighter.  Sonya takes off her ring jacket and Charlotte realizes that Sonya is the fighter.  Sonya tells Charlotte to prove she is a champion by putting her title on the line right now.

Charlotte asks the crowd and she accepts the challenge.

Sami says that is fine and he knows that Roman is under a lot of pressure.
