WWE SMACKDOWN REPORT: TAG TITLE MATCH, WHO QUALIFIED FOR THE RUMBLE?, IS EVERY MILITARY GIMMICK REQUIRED TO USE THE COBRA CLUTCH, AND MORE

By Richard Trionfo on 2023-01-06 21:59:00

Your announcers are Michael Cole and Wade Barrett.

The Usos, Sami Zayn, and Solo Sikoa make their way through the crowd and they attack the announce table.

Roman Reigns’ music plays and he makes his way to the ring with Paul Heyman.

Roman is handed the official mic from Paul Heyman.

Roman tells Memphis to acknowledge him.

Roman tells Paul we are going to start things off differently tonight.  Roman says he wants to hear from the Honorary Uce, Sami Zayn.

Sami says you saw how they kicked off tonight’s show and it is the same way they started off Raw and it is how they are going to do it all year.  This year belongs to the Bloodline.  On Raw, we showed up to send a message and that is what we did.  Solo won his match.  Him and the Usos won their match.  They are sending out their message.

Roman says he doesn’t care to talk about this year.  He wants to talk about what happened last year.  Roman says he doesn’t know if you tuned in last week, they had the biggest Smackdown match of the year against John Cena and Kevin Owens.  What do you think happened?  So say they lost and Roman laughs.

That is something he doesn’t understand.  He does not lose.  It isn’t in his DNA.  He had to think about it long and hard.  Roman says he didn’t lose . . . Sami did.  Roman says it wasn’t his shoulders on the mat, it was Sami.  Roman says he doesn’t care, but what is confusing to him is why did you call your shot?  Why did you guarantee a win?  Roman says he does that.  He calls his shot.  He says he always delivers.  It is embarrassing when you call your shot and then you fail to deliver.  Roman says he had to keep asking himself if Sami wants to be the Tribal Chief?  Why are trying to do things like him?  Do you think you can do things better than him?  At the top, you have to be concerned.  You have to have eyes in the back of your head.  Why are you trying to do what I do?  Do you want to be him?

Roman yells at Sami and he wants to know if Sami wants to be him.  Do you think you are fit . . .

Kevin Owens’ music interrupts and he makes his way to the ring.

Kevin says before things go too far, Kevin tells Roman he needs to calm down and take a deep breath.  You have some misdirected anger.  You are always so calm, cool, and collected.  Kevin says he thinks the last time Roman was like this, it was due to him.  Your problem is not with Sami, it is with him.  You have said you have a KO problem and it is driving you crazy.  You need to show everyone what you do and take care of that KO problem.  The way to do it is at the Royal Rumble for the WWE Championship.

Roman says he does not care about Kevin.  He just wants him to leave.

Kevin says after what they did last week and beat him, he will give it to Roman.  He will leave, but he will see Roman at the Royal Rumble.  He says he will see Sami when he gets his balls out of Roman’s pocket.

Paul reminds Sami that life on the Island of Relevancy is staying three steps ahead.  He says he still loves Sami.

Liv Morgan is in the back and she says The Royal Rumble.  Thirty women for the same spot can be chaos.  I live for chaos.  Entering last is the easy way but if I had my way, I would do it first.  If you think you have a chance to win, watch me.

Wade and Cole talk about what happened last week between Bray Wyatt and LA Knight.

LA Knight is in the back with Kayla Braxton.  She asks him about how is he feeling about his match at the Royal Rumble.

LA says he was walking through Memphis and he asks if he is feeling the way he feels.  He says he is feeling good, but not about being in Memphis.  He says he feels good because Bray’s plans blew up in his face.  Now he has to kick around the remaining pieces and no one will be talking about Bray’s return, they will be talking about LA Knight.

Match Number Two:  Scarlett and Karrion Kross versus Emma and Riddick Moss

Kross with a knee and Moss with a DDT.  Scarlett tags in so the women enter the match.  Emma with a Thesz Press and punches.  Emma sends Scarlett into the turnbuckles and hits a clothesline.  Emma with a forearm and a cross body into the corner for a near fall.  Scarlett with a forearm and Emma fires back.  Scarlett with a gutwrench suplex and bridge for a near fall.  Scarlett goes for a slam but Emma lands on her feet.  Emma with a butterfly suplex and a drop kick to the side of the head but Kross breaks up the cover.  Emma slaps Kross and Kross likes it.  Moss tags in and he punches Kross.

Kross with a shoulder into the corner.  Scarlett trips Moss and Kross with a clothesline.  Scarlett sends Emma into the ring post and over the announce table.  Moss sends Kross into the corner and misses a shoulder.  Kross with a forearm to the back of the head and the Kross Jacket.  The referee calls for the bell.

Winners:  Scarlett and Karrion Kross

After the match, Scarlett puts a mask on Moss and then Kross pulls out the tarot card.

Kross tells Rey he knows he is watching and you know that is going to be you.  Tick Tock.

Cole mentions Smackdown’s ratings from last week and he says it was due to the Women’s Championship Match.

We have a video package.
