TONY KHAN: AEW DOUBLE OR NOTHING POST-SHOW MEDIA SCRUM COVERAGE

By Mike Johnson on 2022-05-30 00:44:00

AEW TBS Champion Jade Cargill

Cargill was asked how she's grown as a performer.  She said she works in a company with people who have wrestled for 10 years on the indies.  She feels she's killing it in her second year.   She said she was an athlete before pro wrestling, but wrestling is a whole different world in general.  She's still learning.

Cargill was asked about Stokely Hathaway being paired with her.  She said he's the best talker in the game and who wouldn't want anything less than that.  She said Tony made the best decision.  Khan said his 90 days expired yesterday and he had never spoken to him before today.  He had him in mind since 2018 and had talked about him with Cody.  Hathaway was in Vegas and they met today.  He wanted him to be Stokely due to his history with ROH.  It was cool that it worked out.  Jade didn't know anything until today and it was a surprise for her today and she was as excited as the fans.  Khan said they can be the new Nick Bockwinkel and Bobby Heenan.

They were asked about growing the women's division.  Jade said it feels great.  Her first promo was about elevating the division.  Women's wrestling in general needs to progress and get bigger and better.

Jade said her entrance could be the "Money Lift" after using the old Cody Rhodes elevator as part of her PPV presentation.

Jade said she wants to reach the demographic that isn't currently watching wrestling right now.  She's here to try and reach out and crossover to those outside the wrestling fans that are already watching.  Khan said that when they are invited to go visit sports teams, the wrestling fans recognize her but the fans who don't know wrestling really react to her.

Jade was asked about Sonny Kiss being part of the Baddies potentially.  She thinks Sonny is a "bad b**ch" and loves Sonny but they are really stacked and loaded right now and she can only do so much.

Tony Khan stated this was the record buyrate for Double or Nothing PPV, based on digital buys.
