COMPLETE RING OF HONOR DEATH BEFORE DISHONOR COVERAGE FROM PHILADELPHIA

By Mike Johnson on 2021-09-12 18:29:00

ROH Pure Champion Jonathan Gresham vs. Josh Woods.

Some really nice back and forth wrestling early on.  They each get three rope breaks.  They locked up.  Gresham tried to work over the arm.  Woods used a test of strength to force Woods to the mat for several near falls.  They grappled and both got tangled in the ropes so the referee forced a break.  They locked up again and Woods forced Gresham into the ropes so the referee made them break the clench.  They grappled and kept reversing waistlocks until again ending up in the ropes.  The referee ruled they had each used a rope break.

They locked up again before squaring off and going for another test of strength.  Woods easily gained control but was snatched in a head scissors.  He fought his way out and grabbed a wristlock.  Gresham used an armdrag to escape.  Woods went to the ropes but Gresham grabbed a boot and dropkicked his knee.  Woods fought back and nailed an armdrag off the ropes into the ring.  He grabbed Gresham's legs but Gresham clapped his boots together and hit Woods' hands.  Woods regained control and went for a suplex but Gresham held strong and blocked it.

Woods went right back after Gresham's shoulder but Gresham reversed, using the ropes to do so. They started striking back and forth.  They ended up in the ropes during a clinch so the referee rules they each used break number two.  They ended up in a small package rolling around and around until both men's shoulders were on the mat and the referee counted.

The ruled this match a draw, which Philly hated.

Gresham took the mic and said there was no way in hell he, the best professional wrestler in the world, is going to allow a decision like this to ruin his record.  He demanded they restart the match and the clock.

They rang the bell.

Gresham and Woods faced off.  Woods slapped him hard.  Gresham fired back.  Woods grabbed a leglock and they rolled around on the mat, then exchanged forearms.  The referee ruled they have used their final rope break.  They kept battling until Woods snatched Gresham in a rear naked choke.  Gresham's arm dropped twice but he came to life and tried to fight out and began smashing Woods' arm.  They battled to their foot but Gresham took him down and they exchanged near falls.

Gresham went to the top but was kicked in mid-air.  Woods went for a rolling back suplex but Gresham escaped before being caught with another suplex.  Gresham drilled Woods and locked in an anklelock.  Woods escaped and nailed the Chaos Theory for a CLOSE two count.    Gresham began bashing him with forearm smashes.  Woods fired back and finally got the better of the exchange.  Gresham caught him with a bridging back suplex for a two count and then went for a Kimura.

Woods powered him up and nailed a wheelbarrow suplex out of a tombstone position and scored the clean pinfall.

Your winner and new ROH Pure Champion, Josh Woods!

Gresham took the title and snatched it out of Woods' hands.  He then personally placed it around Woods' waist to a big ovation and shook his hand.

Really good technical bout with a finish that seemed to legitimately surprise Philly.

ROH Six Man Tag Team Champions Shane Taylor Promotions vs. La Faccion Ingoblernable.

Kenny King attacked Taylor with a steel chair on the floor as he was making his way around the ring.  The referee rules O'Shay Edwards can substitute for Taylor, who was taken to the back.  The match is still for titles.

Kaun started out with Dragon Lee and stomped him in the corner.  Lee caught him with a big dropkick and set up for a move but Kaun went to the floor.  Moses tagged in and ran through Lee, who tagged out to Bestia.  They battled back and forth, showing that neither man could realy be moved.  They whipped each other back and forth with stiff clotheslines in the corner before Bestia took out Moses.

King and Edwards tagged in.  King dared him to punch him but kicked Edwards when he reeled back for the strike.  Bestia speared Edwards and they went to the floor.  The Soldiers of Savagery took control of the ring, double teaming King and scoring several two counts.  They battled back and forth with STP gaining control and tagging in and out, working over Dragon Lee.  King and Bestia broke it up but ended up getting wiped oiut by SOS.  Bestia powerslammed Moses.

Kaun blocked a King kick and slammed him but LFI kept tagging in and out.  There's way too much here to keep up with.  They went into a series of crazy dives that the crowd loved.  King hit a nice twisting pescado.  They battled back and forth until Kaun scored the pin on King.

Your winners and still ROH Six Man Tag Team Champions, Shane Taylor Promotions!

I don't think the crowd was thrilled about the substitution at first but man, they got more than they expected.  Everyone involved killed it here.  Absolutely a great bout.
