COMPLETE RING OF HONOR DEATH BEFORE DISHONOR COVERAGE FROM PHILADELPHIA

By Mike Johnson on 2021-09-12 18:29:00

Jake Atlas vs. Taylor Rust.

They had some nice back and forth counter wrestling early on.  Some good action.  Rust caught Atlas with a superkick that sent him to the outside but when he went to grab him through the ropes was nailed.  Atlas locked on a chinlock.  Atlas nailed a running elbow in the corner but missed a second one.  Rust drilled him with a series of elbows to the neck and shoulders.  Rust drilled Atlas with Eat Defeat but Atlas kicked up.  Rust nailed several kneees and cinched on a cattle mutilation variation for a submission.

Your winner, Taylor Rust!

Solid match but it seemed like just as it was getting going, it ended.

Atlas was walked to the back by officials.

Violence Unlimited's Tony Deppen & Homicide & Chris Dickinson vs. LSG & Lee Moriarty & John Walters.

Homicide was wearing a Daffney armband.  The crowd chanted GCW at Dickinson, then chanting for Deppen and Homicide.

Homicide and Walters started out, going back and forth on the mat.  Dickinson tagged in.  Moriarty and Deppen tagged in and had some really nice, smooth exchanges.  Homicide tagged in but was locked in an abdominal stretch.  He fought to escape but Walters tagged in and placed him in a Texas Cloverleaf.  Dicksinson tagged in and he and Homicide worked over Walters.

Walters finally made the tag to LSG.  He drilled Dickinson with a series of chops and scored a two count but Deppen broke it up.   LSG went to come off the ropes but Deppen cracked him with a leaping knee.  Moriarty hit a dive on Homicide and returned with a springboard clothesline on Dickinson for a near fall.    Walters locked in a double STF on Homicide and Dickinson at the same time but Deppen came off the top with a double stomp.

Moriarty and Dickinson battled back and forth with forearms and strikes.  He nailed an enziguiri on Dickinson.  Homicide almost got him with the Gringo Killer.  Homicide hit a big tope con hilo to the outside on Team Pure Wrestling.  The others double-teamed LSG and pinned him, both making the cover.

Your winners, Violence Unlimited!

The crowd chanted for Lee, who just signed with AEW.

The Foundation's Jay Lethal, Rhett Titus and Tracy Williams came out.  Lethal said it's been a long time since he didn't have a match on a ROH PPV.  He said watching everything that took place tonight, he's excited about the future of the company, naming Eli Isom and the fact they crown a new Women's World Champion.  He asked how you can not be excited about the Pure Division when you have LSG here.  He put over John Walters as a legend.  Lethal said from the bottom of his heart, he wishes Lee Moriarty was staying in the Pure Division but there are a ton of great wrestlers in the back and around the world who want to be part of the division.

Lethal said everyone in the back and in the ring watched Eddy Guerrero, Dean Malenko, Samoa Joe and AJ Styles, saying they all studied those tapes for hours.  He said they all watched names like Reckless Youth and Alex Shelley.  He said they have talents who are unmatched technically and they have the Pure Champion, Jonathan Gresham.  Lethal said everyone in this ring, on the stage and in the locker room love professional wrestling.  He said during the peak of the pandemic, he heard people say it was fresh and exciting, but that was a problem.  It was the best wrestling that wrestling can be and it was always great and exciting.  No matter what company you are in, the pure division is the best wrestling and that's in Ring of Honor wrestling.  The crowd chanted for ROH.

The six man was solid but you got the idea the crowd wasn't buying Team Pure as competition for Violence Unlimited.  It still told a good story though.

The OGK vs. The Briscoes.

They started out hot with everyone battling in the ring and then facing off.  You could feel the energy in the crowd change live for this one.

The Briscoes cut Mike Bennett off and worked him over, tagging in and out.  Bennett made the tag to Taven, who worked over Mark.  He nailed a Side Russian Legsweep for a two count.  The Briscoes double teamed Taven with Jay drilling him with a big stiff boot to the face.  He smashed Taven with a DDT.  Bennett grabbed Mark and placed him on his shoulders outside.  Taven went for a dive but Jay cut him off, then attacked Bennett on the floor.  Taven hit a moonsault to the floor, taking out Bennett and Jay.

Mark went to the top and hit a Froggy Bow Elbow off the top to the floor on everyone.  Back in the ring, Mark and Jay took apart Taven.  The crowd chanted for the Briscoes.  Jay drilled him with a hangman's neckbreaker for a two count.  The crowd tried to rally Taven.  He finally made the tag to Bennett, who snapped Jay in an armbar.  Mark returned to the fray but was taken out by OGK.

The battle went back and forth until Mark nailed Bennett with a dropkick through the ropes and sent Taven to the floor.  Mark hit a Blockbuster off the apron to the floor on Taven.  Jay hit a lariat that flipped Taven inside out.  Mark nailed a froggy bow elbow off the top for a two count but Bennett broke up the pinfall attempt.  The crowd rallied everyone.

A chair was brought into the equation.  The Briscoes were going to put Taven through it but Mark was speared by Bennett.  They battled until Taven small packaged Jay and scored the pin.

Your winners, OGK!

Really good match.  Probably the most energy of anything thus far on the show.
