By Mike Johnson on 2021-09-05 19:00:00

AEW Tag Team Champions The Young Bucks vs. The Lucha Brothers - Steel Cage Match.

Big Lucha Brothers musical entrance.

They faced off.  The Bucks tried to escape but was dropkicked into the cage.  The Bucks were whipped into each other but whipped themselves back into the corners and whipped the Lucha Brothers towards each other and the Lucha Brothers did the same.  It’s already too quick to keep up with.

Fenix held Jackson’s legs open for Penta to missile dropkick him in the hip.   The Bucks were tossed out of the ring into the cage and then speared into the cage.  They went for it again but the Bucks moved and the Brothers hit the steel.  Now, the Bucks were in control and it turned into the Young Bucks double-team exhibition.

Matt Jackson rudely powerbombed Fenix into the cage.  They trapped Penta between the cage and the ring, driving him into the steel over and over.   The Bucks choked Fenix with a chain.  Matt went for the running powerbomb again but Fenix reversed it into a rana into the cage.  Penta made a comeback and nailed a backstabber on Matt for a two count but Nick broke it up.

Fenix bounced off the ropes and used the cage as a base for lucha armdrag takedowns.  The Brothers went for superkicks but missed the Bucks and kicked each other.  Matt came off the top into a stunner on Penta.  Fenix came back with a somersault into a double stunner.   Penta drilled Matt for a close two count.

The Bucks stopped the momentum with Nick shoving Fenix off the top and nailing a nasty German suplex.  Matt draped Fenix against the ropes so Nick could hit a swanton off the top for a two count.  The Bucks nailed a double-team tombstone with Nick coming off the ropes for the assist and landed on Fenix to boot for a double near fall.  The crowd chanted for the Lucha Brothers.

Fenix came back but was caught going for a springboard bodypress.  He escaped and sent them crashing into each other but Matt nailed a low blow, which the crowd booed.  Don Callis noted that the move was legal in this environment.  They named More Bang For Your Buck for a two count.

The Bucks ripped at Fenix and Penta’s masks.  The Bucks lawn darted Fenix face-first into the cage.  Brandon Cutler tossed a doctor’s bag into the ring, giving the Bucks weapons.  They pulled out a sneaker with thumbtacks across the bottom.  The crowd chanted, “You sick f***s.”  They put them on to do a superkick party but Penta put himself in his brother’s way.  They superkicked Penta and the crowd booed that.

Nick ran Penta face-first into Matt Jackson’s tacked sneaker as Matt sat atop the ropes.  There was quite a bit of blood.  Fenix tried to make the save but was hit with a Poisonrana.  The Bucks hit the BTE Trigger and covered Penta but Fenix made the save and the place went nuts.  Fenix hit an insane amount of hot offense, then nailed the Bucks with sneakers.  He nailed Matt with a Michinoku Driver for a close two count.

The Lucha Bros set up Matt for a move.  Nick shoved Fenix off the ropes but he grabbed the cage and climbed up.   They battled back and forth.  Penta caught Matt and nailed a Canadian Destroyer off the top rope.  Everyone was down and out and the fans chanted “Fight forever.”

Everyone started superkicking each other but no one would go down as they fought to stay standing.   In the end, they were all prone on the mat laid out again.  Fenix used the cage to launch off and nailed a kick.  Matt Jackson barely saved his brother from a double-team.

Penta pointed to the top of the cage and Fenix began scaling to the top.  Nick Jackson scaled to meet him there.  Fenix kicked him back down.    He nailed a flying bodypress off the top of the cage with the other three catching him.  Penta spiked Nick Jackson and scored the pin.

Your winners and new AEW Tag Team Champions The Lucha Brothers!

A ridiculously entertaining match.

Women's Casino Battle Royal - Hikaru Shida, Jade Cargill, Nyla Rose, Emi Sakura, Tay Conti, Julia Hart, Big Swole, The Bunny, Red Velvet, Penelope Ford, Thunder Rosa, Abadon, KiLynn King, Leyla Hirsch, Rebel, Anna Jay, Jamie Hayter, Kiera Hogan, Riho, Sky Blue and Diamante competing.

The first group is Shida, Sakura, Blue (a local talent who was added), The Bunny and Abadon.

Abadon was first tossed by The Bunny.  She was worked over by Sakura.  Shida and Sakura went after each other.

The second group of competitors are Anna Jay, Kiera Hogan, Kilynn King, Diamante and Nyla Rose with Vickie Guerrero.

The third group was Riho, Penelope Ford, Jamie Hater, Big Swole, and Thunder Rosa.

They gave Hayter numerous eliminations to show her power.  The crowd chante for Rosa and Nyla and Hayter worked her over.

The last group was Tay Conti, Red Velvet, Leyla Hirsh, Jade Cargill, Rebel.

Conti hit the ring to save Anna Jay from The Bunny.  Velvet killed Hayter with a hell of a spear.  Hirsh hit a back suplex on Nyla, which was pretty insane.  Jay and Bunny were both knocked out while fighting on the apron.  Cargill pressed and tossed Hirsch over the top to the floor, wiping out the referees.    Lots of Ford vs. Conti interactions.

The Joker was the debuting Ruby Soho, formerly Ruby Riott in WWE.  As I wrote on the site, she didn't make those online vignettes for nothing.  She looked really good, taking the fight to Jade and Nyla.    Cargill nailes an inverted slam on Ruby.  Hayter was tossed by Cargill.    Nyla tossed Cargill who was shocked.    Thunder and Soho tried to toss Nyla.  Conti tossed Ford but celebrated on the outside, leaving her open for Nyla to knock her to the floor.

It was down to Rosa, Ruby and Nyla.  Nyla kept enforcing her will but went over the top when Rosa held the ropes down, then dropkicked her off the apron.  Huge pop for that in Chicago.

It came down to Rosa and Soho.  Chicago was loving this.   They battled back and forth and ended up on the outside.  Ruby was almost eliminated but pulled herself up so she didn't touch the floor.  They fought on the apron trying to knock the other off for some time.    Rosa went for a DVDR but Soho shoved her into the buckles.  Soho kicked Rosa in the face and Rosa fell to the floor.

Your winner, Ruby Soho!

This was really solid and told a nice story as they got to the final competitors.

Chris Jericho vs. MJF - Jericho puts his career on the line.

Justin Roberts said that if Jericho loses, he will never wrestle in AEW again.

MJF had a great entrance mocking Jericho's Y2J WWE entrance.

Jericho had a guitarist play "Judas" as he walked to the ring so the crowd could sing along.

MJF wiped his rear with Jericho’s ring jacket.

They ended up brawling in the crowd after several minutes of back and forth.  They battled back to the ring, where Jericho nailed a springboard dropkick.  MJF cut him off and cinched in an armbar.  He bit on Jericho’s hand.  Jericho made a comeback and nailed a backbreaker for a two count.

MJF was sent into the corner but came off the buckles, attacking the arm.  He focused his attack on the arm for some time, then hit the Heat Seeker on the apron.  Jericho went to the floor.  MJF missed a quebrada.  Jericho powerbombed him on the apron.   They battled back and forth, striking the other with right hands.

Jericho went to come off the ropes but MJF drilled him with a knee to the face as he came down.  MJF was too spent to make the cover.  MJF tried to pull him up but grabbed at his back from earlier attacks.  Jericho nailed a Lionsault for a two count after attempting the Lion Tamer.

Jericho nailed a running clothesline and followed up with numerous others.

Jericho rained down with punches and was going for a top rope rana but MJF caught him and hit a sit-out powerbomb.  Both men were hurt.  MJF finally made the cover but Jericho kicked out at two.  Jericho battled back with a Codebreaker off the ropes for a two count.  Wardlow came out but was intercepted by Jake Hager.

MJF used the Judas Effect and pinned Jericho, but it was obvious Jericho had his foot on the rope before the three count

Your winner, MJF!

Nope, the referees are conferring.  They are restarting the match.  MJF shoved Aubrey Edwards  She shoived back and Jericho rolled him up for a two count.

MJF locked on an armbar but Jericho grabbed a rollup for a two count.  MJF went back for the armbar but was caught and put in the Walls of Jericho.  MJF fought for the ropes but failed and finally tapped.  MJF had some awesome facial expressions during that sequence.

Jericho's AEW career continues.......

The entire Inner Circle came to the ring to celebrate with Jericho.

This was a different type of pace from everything else on the show but told a good story.
