WWE NXT REPORT: NORTH AMERICAN CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH, MORE MATCHES FOR NEW YEAR'S EVIL, BALOR AND KYLE FACE TO FACE, RHEA AND RAQUEL . . . FRACTURED FRIENDSHIP, AND MORE

Match Number Four:  Pete Dunne versus Roderick Strong

Strong with a take down and punches.  Strong with a punch and chops.  Strong with a forearm and Dunne with kicks to the leg.  Strong with a side head lock take down and punches.  Strong with a flying clothesline followed by punches and kicks,.  Dunne with a side head lock and he works on the hand.  Strong with a kick and punches to Dunne.  Strong with a chop.  Dunne with a head scissors and he pulls back the hand.  Dunne with a double wrist lock.  Dunne with a body scissors but Strong drops Dunne on the ropes.    Strong with a chop and Dunne goes down.  Dunne kicks Strong over the top rope to the floor.  Dunne with a bicycle kick to Strong on the floor.

They return to the ring and Strong with a forearm.  Strong pulls Dunne from the ropes and hits a back breaker.  Dunne goes to the floor and Strong with a drop kick through the ropes.  Dunne goes over the ringside barrier and he grabs Strong's hand and kicks Strong in the head.  Dunne hangs Strong over the apron and Dunne with a choke.  Strong with a kick from the corner.  Strong with a chop and then he puts Dunne on the turnbuckles and connects with punches.

Strong climbs the turnbuckles and sets for a superplex.  Dunne blocks it and sends Strong face first to the mat.  Dunne comes off the turnbuckles and stomps on Strong's hands.  Dunne sets for a surfboard and drives the knees into the mat.  Dunne wraps the arm in the ropes and then kicks Strong.  Dunne with punches and a kick from the apron.  Dunne sends Strong to the floor.  Strong kicks Dunne but Dunne with a running boot.  Strong with forearms but Dunne with an Irish whip that sends Strong sternum first into the turnbuckles.  Dunne with a modified Regal Stretch and he pulls at the ear.  

Dunne kicks Strong.  Dunne sends Strong to the mat and Dunne chokes Strong.  Strong with kicks in the corner followed by forearms.  Dunne flips out of the corner on an Irish whip but Strong with a drop kick.  Dunne and Strong exchange punches and Strong with clotheslines and then he sends Dunne face first into the mat.  Strong with a running knee and then he hits a series of forearms.  Strong with an Olympic Slam for a near fall.  Dunne kicks Strong away.  Strong misses a drop kick through the ropes and lands on his feet.  Dunne sends Strong into the ring steps.  Strong with a half nelson back breaker on the apron.  Strong gets a near fall.  Dunne with a rollup for a near fall.

Dunne with an enzuigiri but Strong with an enzuigiri of his own.  Dunne counters a Gibson Driver into a triangle.  Strong picks up Dunne and hits a back breaker for a near fall.  Dunne stomps on the chest and then he goes back to the triangle but Strong has Dunne's shoulders on the mat for a near fall.  Strong with forearms and Strong goes for the Strong Hold.  Dunne pulls at the fingers and snaps them.  Dunne with the Bitter End for the three count.

Winner:  Pete Dunne

It is time for the Match of the Year.  The winner is Finn Balor versus Kyle O'Reilly from Takeover 31.

Finn says he doesn't need his.  He will take Kyle's and give it to him.

We see Finn walking in the back and he sees Pete Dunne.  

Dunne says something to Balor and Balor says everyone wants to face the champ so get in line.

Finn Balor makes his way to the ring.

We are back and we are one week away from the Fight Pit.

Finn Balor is in the ring and he has something to say.

Finn Balor versus Kyle O'Reilly, Takeover 31 for the NXT Championship, match of the year.  Kyle surprised a lot of people that night, but he didn't surprise me.  He proved that he belongs in the ring with Finn Balor.  You should come and get this.

Kyle O'Reilly makes his way to the ring.

Finn tells Kyle that award is his.  Finn says he doesn't need it.  I've got this, the NXT Championship. I don't need that trophy to remind me of that match.  I have three steel plates in my jaw to remind me.  All that is good for is gathering dust.

Kyle says it might not mean much to Finn, but it is proof that I belong in the ring with you and at the top of NXT.  That said, I don't need it.  I am not going to carry it around.  It is a consolation prize and a participation award.  I have been participating for fitteen years.  Now I want the prize.  That is a symbol that I came up short.  I leave my respect at home.  I will do what it takes to become the champion.  THAT means that you are the best and that you are number one.  It means that I am worth a damn and it is coming home with me.

Finn says that is very nice.  Let me tell you something.  I am going to do everything in my power to make you suffer.  The last time we wrestled, you broke my jaw.  The next time we wrestle, I am going to make you pay.  I am going to drag you all over this canvas.  I'm going to make you wish you had finished me the first time.

Scarlett comes out with Karrion Kross and she says that what is in that ring belongs to them.  It is irrelevant who leaves with it in seven days because your fate is already sealed.  

Kross says Doomsday is HERE.  Tick tock.

Damian Priest shows up behind Kross and they stare each other down.  

Priest says this is how you step like a man and he punches Kross.  Priest with more punches but Kross with a boot.  Priest with a kick and he sets for a power bomb but Kross with a forearm.  They make their way to the ring.  Priest with a forearm and Kross runs Priest into the stansion and then they both go through the plexiglas into the ringside area.  They continue to exchange punches and go to the back.  Kross with a forearm and he connects with forearms across the chest.  Priest with a rake of the eyes.  Kross goes for a belly-to-back suplex but Priest counters with a lateral press and they go through the table. 

We go to commercial.

We are back and we take a look at Raquel Gonzalez versus Rhea Ripley.  Rhea says she felt alone when she came to the Performance Center but she gravitated to Raquel.  They felt like they had each other's backs when no one else did.  It was that special bond that led to them tagging and going on the road together.  It led to them being sisters.  It was something she didn't have here.  They would get matching RNR tattoos.  That is how close we are.  That is how close we were.  Things change and people change. Raquel is not the same person she knew.  She does not let many people in and she let Raquel in.  She trusted her and needed her.  They were there for each other until her ego got in the way and Raquel got jealous of her success.

Raquel says Rhea walks around here like she owns the place.  You're looking at the biggest and baddest woman in this industry.  Maybe I have been playing this game since the beginning.  

Rhea says all those years of training and rooming together.  She threw it in the bin.

You keep your friends close, but your enemies closer.

Legado del Fantasma is in the ring.

Santos Escobar says they should take a moment and look around.  See where we are.  Enjoy the moment.  What a year we had.  What a year I had.  The NXT Universe can vote for Undisputed Era all they want as tag team of the year.  It is a sham. I am not here to be popular.  I am here to dominate and that is what I have done.  William Regal is out trying to find the next challenger for the Cruiserweight Title.  No one can touch me.  He can look all across the Earth and he cannot and will not find anyone who belongs in this ring with me.

With us, the leaders of lucha libre.  Legado del Fantasma.  In 2021, this will continue because I know exactly what we are going to do.. Our first order of business . . . 

Gran Metalik and Lince Dorado make their way to the ring.  

Lince says it is nice to be somewhere where we are not chasing champions.  Do you think you own lucha libre?  You don't own lucha libre.  Lucha libre is for everybody.

Mendoza yells at Dorado and Metalik in Spanish.

Dorado sends Wilde to the floor and then Metalik takes care of Mendoza.

Match Number Five:  Raul Mendoza and Joaquin Wilde versus Lince Dorado and Gran Metalik

Dorado with a handspring cutter followed by a double drop kick from Metalik and Dorado.  They hit a double suicide dive combination.

We go to commercial.

We are back and the match is joined in progress.  Metalik with a springboard head scissors to Mendoza followed by a back breaker to Wilde for a near fall.  Metalik with a kick and Dorado tags in and Dorado with a rana.  Mendoza tags in and Dorado with an arm drag and quebrada for a near fall.  Dorado with a chop and Wilde holds Dorado on a handspring attempt and Mendoza with a drop kick to Dorado.  Mendoza with a clothesline into the corner and Wilde tags in and hits a clothesline.  Mendoza with a clothesline as well.  They hit a double suplex and Wilde gets a near fall.

Dorado goes up top and hits a cross body.  Mendoza tags in and so does Metalik.  Metalik lands on his feet and he hits a super kick and wraparound bulldog.  Metalik with a springboard drop kick for a near fall. Mendoza sends Metalik into the corner and Dorado tags in and he chops Mendoza.  Metalik with a Frankensteiner and Dorado with a frog splash for a near fall.  Wilde is sent to the apron by Droado.  Metalik with a head scissors off the apron.  Dorado with a Poisonrana to Mendoza and Metalik tags in and hits a springboard elbow drop for the three count.

Winners:  Lince Dorado and Gran Metalik

After the match, Metalik gestures he wants the title.

The Winner of Future Star of the Year is Austin Theory.

Austin Theory takes the award and Candice tells Austin to share with Indi.  He says this proves that he is the future and he found the WHEY.  Austin says that Johnny is going to beat the curse tonight.

Johnny says that Austin cannot say the 'C' word and then he breaks a mirror.

Johnny says he cannot deal with it and Austin is about to tell Johnny not to walk under the ladder but Candice stops him from saying it.

We go to commercial.

We are back and it is time for Overall Competitor of the Year and the winner is Io Shirai.

Io says she is so honored and thanks everyone.

Match Number Six:  Johnny Gargano (with Candice LeRae, Indi Hartwell, and Austin Theory) versus Leon Ruff for the North American Championship

They lock up and Gargano with a wrist lock and hammer lock.  Gargano with a side head lock take down.  Gargano wit a wrist lock.  Ruff with a back flip and escape.  Ruff gets a near fall.  Ruff with a rollup for a near fall.  Ruff with a victory roll for a near fall.  Gargano goes to the floor to strategize and Theory tries to distract Ruff but it fails.  Ruff gets a near fall.  Ruff with a rana and arm drag followed by a rollup and kick.  Ruff with a chop and kick in the corner.  Ruff is sent to the floor and he lands awkwardly.  Gargano with a chop and he sends Ruff into the apron.

Gargano sends Ruff into the ringside barrier.  Ruff leaps away from Gargano and hits a rana on Gargano on the floor.  Ruff sends Gargano back into the ring but he watches over his shoudler as Ruff gets back into the ring and Gargano with a kick followed by a neck breaker.  Gargano sends Ruff into the ring steps.  Gargano kicks Ruff in the ribs and hangs him over the apron and connects with a forearm.  Gargano rakes the eyes in the ropes and the referee warns Gargano.

Gargano with a neck breaker and he gets a near fall.  Ruff with forearms but Gargano with a rolling kick for a near fall.  Gargano with a cobra clutch.  Ruff with punches and a back breaker.  Gargano with a hammer lock using the leg and then he falls back and hyper-extends the shoulder.  Ruff escapes a neck breaker and goes for a backslide but Gargano blocks it.  Ruff with an enzuigiri and kick to the midsection.  Ruff with a back heel kick and forearms.  Ruff with a flying forearm or two.  Gargano misses a clothesline in the corner.  Ruff with a kick and neck breaker.  Gargano misses a clothesline and Ruff with a German suplex.  

Ruff with a cannonball into the corner for a near fall.  Gargano with forearms and Ruff bounces off the ropes and hits a clothesline.  Ruff comes off the ropes and is met with a super kick.  Gargano sets for a lawn dart and hits it.  Gargano gets Ruff to flinch and Gargano with a super kick for a near fall.  Ruff with a kick and he goes for a slingshot crucifix bomb but Gargano blocks it and hits a back breaker and clothesline.  Gargano with a power bomb for a near fall.  Gargano with the GargaNo Escape.  Ruff gets to the ropes to force a break.

Gargano pushes Ruff to the floor and Gargano follows.  Gargano sets for a lawn dart into the stansion but Ruff escapes and hits a cutter off the apron onto Gargano.  Ruff goes up top  and hits a frog splash for a near fall.  Ruff puts Gargano on the turnbuckles and connects with a punch.  Ruff sets for a Frankensteiner but Gargano counters and drops Ruff face first onto the turnbuckles.  Gargano sets for the slingshot DDT and hits it for the three count.

Winner:  Johnny Gargano (retains Championship)

We see Dexter Lumis on the platform and we see that Santos Escobar will face Gran Metalik for the Cruiserweight Championship next week during New Year's Evil.
