WWE SMACKDOWN REPORT: THREE TITLE MATCHES, AN ENTRANT IN THE ROYAL RUMBLE, AND MORE ON CHRISTMAS

We are in St. Petersburg, Florida and your announcers are Michael Cole and Corey Graves.

We see the steel cage around the ring for our opening match.

Match Number One: Roman Reigns (with Paul Heyman) versus Kevin Owens for the Universal Championship in a Steel Cage Match

Owens and Roman with punches and Kevin with the advantage. Roman with an uppercut. Kevin with a kick but Roman with a forearm. Roman sends Kevin into the turnbuckles and follows with an uppercut. Roman with a boot to Owens and he gets a near fall. Roman sends Kevin into the cage. Roman sends Kevin into the cage a second time and hits a Samoan drop for a near fall. Roman sets for the Superman punch but Owens avoids it and hits a DDT.

Owens with a forearm and Roman fires back. Owens with forearms and punches and then he sends Roman into the cage. Owens with a kick and Roman with an uppercut. Owens with a clothesline and back senton. Owens runs into a boot but Owens blocks it. Owens with punches and kicks in the corner. Owens with a cannonball for a near fall. Owens with a punch and Roman counters a pop up power bomb with a leg drop for a near fall.

Roman with head butts and shoulders in the corner. Owens punches Roman from the turnbuckles and Owens with an elbow. Owens with a frog splash for a near fall.

We go to commercial.

We are back and Owens and Roman exchange punches. Roman blocks a super kick and hits a sit out power bomb for a near fall. Roman with NeverEnding Story in the corner. Owens with a forearm and Roman with a forearm. Roman charges at Owens but Owens with a pop up power bomb for a near fall. Owens picks up Roman but Roman runs Kevin into the turnbuckles and connects with shoulders and follows with a punch.

Roman puts Kevin on the turnbuckles and Roman punches Owens. Owens with punches but Roman sends Owens’ head into the cage. Roman sets for a superplex but Owens holds on to the cage and Owens with a super Fisherman’s buster for a near fall. Owens is the first to his feet and he kicks Roman but Roman escapes the stunner attempt. Roman with a Superman punch for a near fall.

We go to commercial.

We are back and Owens is on the middle rope and he punches Roman. Roan with forearms to the back and they fight to the top rope. Owens with a head butt and Roam with a punch. Owens with an elbow and forearm. Owens with a head butt and Roman falls to the mat. Owens gets a foot over the cage but Roman stops Owens. Roman with a head butt and Owens kicks Roman . Roman with punches to Owens. Owens with a head butt and super kick that sends Roman to the mat.

Owens with a swanton but Roman gets his knees up and Roman with a spear for a near fall. Roman asks for the cage door to be opened. Owens grabs Roman by the ankle but Roman goes through the ropes and Owens holds on. Roman talks to Owens and Owens closes the door on Roman’s head. Owens sends Roman’s head into the cage. Owens starts to go through the ropes and Jey tries to close the door into Owens but Owens is able to avoid it. Owens slams the door into Jey’s head.

Roman grabs Owens and pulls him back into the ring. Owens with a forearm to Roman and a super kick. Owens goes for a pop up power bomb but Reigns with a Superman punch. Roman misses a spear and hits the cage. Owens with a stunner and Owens goes for the door instead of trying to cover Reigns.

Jey has a pair of handcuffs and he has Owens cuffed to the cage. Owens is able to get out of the door but he cannot get his feet on the floor. Roman sees what Jey has done and he slowly walks out of the ring and down the stairs until he gets to the floor.

Winner: Roman Reigns (retains Championship)

We see Charlotte Flair and Asuka walk in the back.

We go to commercial.

We are back and Asuka and Charlotte Flair make their way to the ring separately.

We take a look at photos of Charlotte and Asuka winning the tag titles at TLC on Sunday.

Charlotte Flair says it looks like Christmas came early because the Empress and the Queen came back to Smackdown. Asuka starts to speak but Bayley’s music plays and she comes to the ring.

Bayley says it is impressive. You want to know what is really impressive . . . ME. While 2020 was a downer for everyone in the world, it wasn’t for me. I was the longest reigning champion in Smackdown history for, how many days Michael Cole? 380 days.

Sasha Banks interrupts Bayley and makes her way to the ring.

Sasha asks Bayley if you want to talk about the Smackdown Women’s Champion now because that is impressive.

Bianca Belair makes her way to the ring.

Bianca says if you want to talk about impressive, look at me. I am the EST of WWE. I am the strongest, fastest, and toughest. That is what is impresive.

Carmella’s music interrupts and she makes her way to the ring with Reginald.

Carmella says to look at all of these witches. She meant to say bitches. All of you need to look at me. You talk about being impressive, let’s face it. There is only one woman in this ring who is naughty and nice and nice and naughty.

Sasha pushes Carmella and we go to commercial.

Match Number Two: Charlotte Flair and Asuka versus Bayley and Carmella versus Sasha Banks and Bianca Belair for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship in an Elimination Match

Bayley and Charlotte start things off. They lock up and Charlotte sends Bayley face first to the mat. They lock up and Charlotte sends Bayley to the mat again. Bayley stomps on the foot and punches Charlotte. Charlotte avoids being sent into the turnbuckles and Charlotte sends Bayley into the turnbuckles and chops Bayley. Asuka tags in and she kicks Bayley while Charlotte chops Bayley. Asuka with a kick to the midsection for a near fall.

Bayley with a forearm and she chops Asuka. Carmella tags in and she chops Asuka. Asuka pushes Carmella and Charlotte takes a swing at Carmella from the apron. Asuka with a forearm and hip attack. Asuka with a hip strike to Carmella and she mocks Carmella. Carmella with a boot to Asuka and a head scissors in the ropes. Asuka with a back heel kick and Sasha tags in.

Sasha with a take down on Carmella and she punches Carmella and gets a near fall. Sasha with knees in the corner and Bianca tags in and hits a shoulder in the corner. Bianca goes for a slam but Carmella escapes and tags in Charlotte.

We see Liv Morgan and Ruby Riott watching in the back on a giant monitor.

Charlotte with a shoulder tackle but Bianca stays on her feet. Charlotte with a side head lock. Charlotte with a cartwheel and she mocks Bianca. Charlotte with an Irish whip and Bianca floats over. Charlotte misses a boot and both women with drop kicks that miss. Charlotte with a kick and she goes for a slam but Bianca escapes and sends Charlotte into the turnbuckles.

Bianca is sent into the turnbuckles by Charlotte. Asuka tags in and Bianca tags in and she pulls Asuka off the apron. Carmella and Charlotte exchange chops on the floor until Charlotte takes control. Sasha with a double knee take down off the apron to Charlotte. Carmella sends Sasha into the ringside barrier. Asuka knocks Bianca down.

Bayley with a belly-to-belly suplex on Asuka for a near fall.
We go to commercial.
