The men’s War Games Match is next.
The Era came first. Kyle O’Reilly went into the ring first for his team. The Kings are out next and Pete Dunne immediately went to the ring. This should be five minutes of great.
They beat each other up for the first five minutes. Then the clock his zero and Pat McAfee acted like he was going in. Of course he isn’t, he will be last. Oney went in. Kyle was working the heel but Pete didn’t stay down long. They have three minutes to work him over until Kyle gets help.
He hung in there and here comes Bobby Fish. He is a house afire. The dude is so good. He is allowing Kyle to come back.
The clock hit zero and Pat faked going in again. Danny Burch said no. He stopped and got plunder on the way. He has a cricket bat. Wade popped. It’s a British thing. They have two. Pete and Danny know how to use them. Back in the old days of Wrestling Radio, Jeremy Borash, Mick Karch, Bob Ryder and I lost it when a sponsor promoted something called the Fatwhacker. I wonder if it looked like a cricket bat. RIP Bob.
UE is getting beaten up with the bats.
Roddy Strong is in for the UE. He ran down to the ring and got attacked by the tag champs when he came in but he fired back. Adam Caole and Pat Mac will be last for their teams. Roddy is cleaning house.
This is good stuff. I know, shocking right?
And with his team in control, here comes Pat Mac. He is bringing in tables that have the UE logo and the names of the members on them. He is tossing in some chairs too. Unless he locks the cage he is wasting his three minutes.
They laid Roddy out on his table and Pat did a moonsault from the top, putting Roddy through it. I know some people hate him but he is an athlete and he gets it. Cole is on his way down. His partners are all down. The Kings are waiting for him so he shot them with a fire extinguisher and came in with a chair. The match is on. Cole is using the chair to get some traction.
Cole took out the tag champs and then went for Pat, but Dunne cut him off. Cole hit a great DDT and went for The Last Shot but Pat grabbed him and set him up for Dunne. Kyle then pasted Pete in the back. Kyle called out Pat. He came in and Cole nailed him in the back with a chair and now we have 8 men brawling. Fans are chanting NXT (at least that is what we hear, fine by me).
Lots of near falls happening now.
Pat took out Cole from behind with a chop block. Now he is working over Cole. He did a Whoo and is going to to a Figure Four. He has Cole trapped in the second ring by himself. Cole reversed it. How old school cool. Pete Dunne made the save.
Pat is down selling his knee. Cole got a two on Dunne. Cole then set up a table, it’s the Kyle one. He looked at Pat but then realized he needed to take Pete out first. They went up on the ropes and the rest of the UE grabbed Burch and put him on the Cole table. They double power bombed Pete onto him but the table didn’t break. So Roddy splashed them through it. Cole was on the top when Pat ran over, he was playing possum. Cole pushed him off and he flew to the middle of the ring, going through a table. Pat has springs in his legs, that was wild.
UE went to work on the other three Kings, destroying them. One guy left. Pat. He is up but begging off. He is trying to get away. He is trying to climb out. They are circling and beating the snot out of him. Pat is getting abused.
They should have pinned him. The Kings are back. It lead to carnage-mania. While they were slugging it out, Pat went up to the top of the cage and did a Swanton on everyone. Damn. You can say what you want about the dude but he has balls, big one. And talent too.
Fittingly, the two guys that started are fighting it out. Dunne hit the Bitter End, two count only! Kyle returned the favor. Pat hit Kyle with a chair but Cole came in and evened it up. Pat used a nut shot but Cole came back. Burch tried to help but was put through the table. Cole hit Panama Sunrise but Pat kicked out. So much is going on. The finish came when Kyle came from outer space and drove a chair to the face of Oney.
Great match! All eight guys killed it. You can say what you want about Pat Mac but he worked his ass off here and deserved to be in it.
Another great Takeover is in the books. Thanks for reading!
