THE BUY IN

I was late joining the show and we are in progress with SCU vs. Best Friends vs. Private Party.

SCU is reppped by Kazarian and Scorpio Sky.   Kazarian nailed a cutter on one of Party.  Chucky T nailed one on Kaz.  Beretta nailed a tornado DDT out of the corner on Sky.  All fast paced action.  Marq Queen nailed an insanely awesome shooting star press on Beretta for a close two count.  The crowd chanted "AEW." Taylor nailed a big piledriver on Queen but Kazarian broke up the pinfall.  SCU double teamed Isaiah Kassidy but he kept kicking up.  Private Party, who I've been covering at House of Glory show for years, looked great.  They built to a Tower of Doom spot but Queen landed on his feet and nailed a Pele Kick.  Kassify came off the top on Kazarian but Scorpio Sky broke it up.   Taylor backdropped Queen over the top to the floor.  The Best Friends went for Strong Zero and scored the pin on Kassidy.

Your winners, Best Friends!

All action.  The crowd was super into it.

The lights went out and when they returned, members of the Dark Order had surrounded the ring.  The lights went out again and when they returned, the Dark Order had disappeared..

Dasha Fuentes is working as timekeeper.

The announcers are Excalibur and Golden Boy, who is a Gaming personality.  The announcing was good.

Backstage, The Young Bucks were backstage complaining about all the problems with the show, parodying The Fyre Festival.   If you knew what this was meant to be a parody of, it was pretty damn funny.    The idea is Kenny Omega is burning through all the money, making him the Billy McFarland.

They set up a tent on the stage with some women in bikinis standing around it.  The Librarian Leva Bates came out and revealed the other Librarian Peter Avalon inside.  Leva cut a promo, telling the crowd they should be reading.  She said there's more to life than comic books and Manga, there are books with words.  Avalon kept following up on her words and she was getting annoyed.  They started sssshing each other.  Allie came out.

Allie vs. Leva Bates, The Librarian

Leva avoided a lock up and sssshed Allie.  The crowd chanted "Books suck."   Leva went to do it again but Allie grabbed her finger and worked it over before stomping it.    She went to the floor, where Peter Avalon checked on her.  They showed Brandi Rhodes backstage watching the match as she'll be facing Allie at Fight for the Fallen.  Allie nailed a Side Russian Legsweep and a crucifix for a two count.  She went to rebound off the ropes but Avalon grabbed her leg.  That distraction allowed Bates to nail her with a dropkick.

They battled back and forth with Bates gaining control.  Bates took her to mat and tied her up on the mat.  Allie made a comeback and nailed a series of chops in the corner.  Bates came back with a dropkick that sent Allie down in the corner.  She drove into her with a pair of knees but Allie kicked up at last second.  Allie ducked a clothesline and nailed a hangwoman's neckbreaker.  I could have SWORN I heard a "Reading Rainbow" chant, which if I did, that's insanely clever.  Allie nailed a big forearm strike to close out a series of offensive manuevers for a two count.

Bates escaped a Firewoman's carry and nailed a lungblower.  She nailed a faceplant and scored several two counts.  Avalon tried to interfere, tossing a book to Bates but Allie intercepted it.  Bates argued with Avalon but was nailed with Allie's finisher the BSE and pinned.

Your winner, Allie!

Completely fine undercard match.  Bates had some funny mannerisms.  It was a decent back and forth match.

They aired a backstage vignette where Kenny Omega learns all the bands have pulled out of Fyterfest, which is what happened with the real Fyre Festival.  They showed instruments on the stage that apparently no one will play.

Hardcore Match: Michael Nakazawa vs. Alex Jebailey

Jebailey is the head of CEO Gaming and the promoter of the gaming convention this show is part of.  He had pyro.  The announcers said that's where the budget went.  Nakazawa took the mic and said that last year, JeBailey cheated to win and that's why he sucks.  He put over JeBailey for recovering from his right leg injury.  Jebailey corrected him and said it was his left leg.  Nakazawa said thanks for the information and attacked it.  That was pretty funny.  Jebailey isn't really a worker, but they did spots where he nailed a hiptoss and a slam.   Nakazawa poured oil on himself to get out of a hold.  They did comedy bits where JeBailey and the referee, Bryce Remsberg slipped on the oil.  Nakazawa controlled the match.

They went to the floor where Jebailey reversed a whip into the guard rail.  JeBailey hit him with a clipboard and a Fightstick controller.  Nakazawa tried to escape and ended up at an inflatable pool near the entrance way, where his face was shoved into the water.  He came back and blew mist with the water.  He used an inflatable flamingo but Jebailey came back to slam him into the pool.  The crowd popped for that.  Jebailey went under the ring and tossed a bunch of weapons and a table into the ring.

Nakazawa nailed him with a controller and tried to strangle him with the cord.  They battled with weapins and Legos and all sorts of things that make Jim Cornette happy.  Jebailey began caning the hell out of Nakazawa.  He covered Nakazawa with a La Magistral but the referee was slow to count.  Nakazawa reversed the pin and scored it.

Your winner, Michael Nakazawa!,

This was something for the gaming crowd with all the usual hardcore stuff.  The crowd enjoyed it for the ridiculous spectacle that it was.

They did a big build up for the entrance of Jim Ross.  He joined Excalibur and Golden Boy, a ESports announcer.

Jon Moxley did a promo backstage telling the ring crew to leave all the weapons at ringside, so he can show everyone how to use them properly.  He said if you don't know who Jon Moxley is, you are going to find out.

AEW FYTERFEST

Jim Ross, Excalibur and Golden Boy ran down the big matches.

CIMA vs. Christopher Daniels

They battled back and forth exchanging holds.  CIMA naled a sliding kick to the outside.  CIMA brought back back into the ring and nailed a slingshot senton into the ring, then tied up Daniels with a submission.  Daniels used his foot, placing it over the ropes, breaking the hold.  They battled to the floor, where Daniels drove CIMA into the apron, then nailed a Northern Lights suplex on the floor.  Daniels worked over CIMA's back, nailing an Arabian moonsault onto it.  CIMA kicked off a Daniels charge into the corner and nailed several strikes before executing a back stabber.  CIMA grabbed at his own back as Daniels softened it up.  CIMA continued working over Daniels, scoring a two count.   CIMA made a comeback and nailed a Meteora off the top for the pin.

Your winner, CIMA!

A solid match with good action.  The booking here made sense since CIMA is in a big marquee match against Kenny Omega in two weeks.  It is ridiculous how smooth Daniels is in terms of timing still.

Daniels and CIMA hugged and embraced after the match.

Yuka Sakazaki vs. Riho vs. Nyla Rose

They put a lot of focus on Rose early on with power spots and Rose locking both in a Camel Clutch at the same time.  She press Sakazaki and tossed her atop of Riho.  Sakazaki came back with a big rana and sent Nyla to the floor, where she did a step up dive onto Rose and Riho.    She nailed a missile dropkick on Riho and scored a two count.  Riho drilled her with an elbow to the jaw.  Sakazaki fired back.  Riho nailed a head scissors takeover.    They went for dropkicks at the same time but missed.  Nyla returned to the ring.  Riho nailed a knee strike but it hardly fazed her.  Riho maneuvered her into a 619.  Sakazaki came off the top but Rose kicked up.

Sakazaki fired at Rose but there wasn't a lot of power behind the shots.  Rose took her down and played to the crowd byut Sakazaki rebounded and fired away.  Rose caught her and drove her to the mat for another two count.  Rose hit a bad looking Avalanche in the corner on Riho and laid her across the top rope.  She drove off the top rope with a guillotine knee strike that popped the crowd.  Rose didn't cover her as she wanted to injure Riho more.  She went back to the top but Sakazaki attacked her, only to be shoved back down to the floor off the apron.  Nyla went for a swanton but missed.  Riho went to the top for a flying bodypress but was caught by Rose in mid-air.  Sakazaki did the same but was caught as well.

They are doing the old NWA time cues over the mic.

Nyla killed Sakazaki with a big German suplex.  She powerbombed her but Riho nailed a knee strike to break up the pinfall and scored a two count of her own on Nyla.  The crowd loved that.  Rose caught Riho with a DVDR and covered her for another two count.   Rose went for another move but Riho caught her with a pinning combination and scored the three count.

Your winner, Riho!

Rose was pissed she lost and attacked Rohi.  She went for a powerbomb but Sakazaki made the save and dropkicked her out of the ring.  The storyline was that Nyla could have gotten the win but was too arrogant trying to hurt her opponents.  Rohi wanted nothing to do with Sakazaki after the match and shoved her away.

Really damn good match.  Rose is obviously a project they are working to build.  Everyone had their moments and it was very good.  Thus far, it's been a decent show with some good action.

Kip Sabian joined the announcing team.  They noted he would face the winner of this match.

Noelle Foley is in the front row.
