The Big Show's music played. It's Rusev vs. Big Show. Show had complete control. Show is moving SO much better with the weight loss. Rusev came back to clip his knee. Rusev hit some nice kicks. Rusev worked over Show's back and sets him for the Accolade. Show shoved him from the ring but when he returned, Rusev ate a chokeslam. Show wiped him out and set him up in the corner. Show hit the KO punch and pinned him. No one cared beyond wanting to chant "USA" against Rusev's foreign menace character.
So, any illusion any of this was a singles push for Rusev or Mahal is now over.
Kevin Owens cut his usual good promo. He said Goldberg has beaten one guy while he's beaten everyone they put in front of him. He said he would beat Goldberg and would beat anyone they wanted him to face, even The Rock.
Austin Aries joined the commentary team. They aired another promo for his impending debut. I am guessing it will be at Wrestlemania.
Neville vs. Jack Gallagher for the Cruiserweight championship started out with Jack's unique offense keeping Neville befuddled. Neville cut him off and used some crisp, vicious offense. Gallagher actually pulled out a dive, which Aries quipped was a wounded duck planca. Gallagher nailed an nice looking belly to back superplex for a CLOSE near fall. They showed some slow motion replays. Neville snapped Gallagher to the mat and smashed him down. Neville snapped him down on the top of his head with a SICK German suplex and then nailed a Phoenix Splash, but Gallagher kicked up. This is turning into quite the good match. Gallagher continued working over Neville and drilled him hard on the top with a kick. Unfortunately for him, Gallagher was sent to the mat and nailed with the Red Arrow. Neville retains. Good physical match.
Paul Heyman was in the house and teased that Brock Lesnar could be in the house tonight. He said that the winner of tonight's match between Kevin Owens vs. Goldberg is Brock Lesnar. If Goldberg wins, he will lose the title at Wrestlemania. If Owens wins, he will show a weakness they somehow missed, leading to Brock beating Goldberg - at which point, Brock will be looking for the Universal champion. He promised that no matter what, Brock wins.
The New Day came out. Booty-Os for all. They had a New Day ice cream cart. These guys must have so much heat with CM Punk. They were trying to do a promo to introduce the ice cream with the joke being that Big E kept singing lyrics from songs, including Randy Orton's theme. They were pushing that fans could let their voice be heard for ice cream. There must be some sort of roll-out coming around Mania time.
With so many segments that are being used as filler, this is coming off like an episode of Raw more than a PPV. I guess I shouldn't be surprised since they aren't going to pull any major triggers before Wrestlemania. But, as a PPV event, it is not a great show.
