It's time for Roman Reigns vs. Braun Strowman. Oh man, I am hoping this kicks ass, because the show has been pretty lackluster over all.
Lots of power spots early. Reigns is being booed. Braun nailed a big spinebuster and a Beal Toss and locked in a nerve hold on Roman. The story early on is Braun so powerful, he withstand the onslaught of Roman, so they are trying to make Roman a sympathetic babyface fighting from underneath. I don't think Milwaukee wants that story. Roman was trapped in a rear chinlock for a long time. Exciting stuff. Reigns is dumped to the floor. Braun set up putting through the announcing table. He went for a powerslam but Reigns slipped behind and Braun ate the ringpost. Strowman was still OK enough to prevent the Drive-by. Roman avoids a chokeslam and nails a Samoan Drop but Braun monsters out of the pinfall attempt. Roman escaped a charge in corner and Braun caught himself on top rope and went over the top to the floor. This time, Roman nailed the Drive-By. Braun came back to hit a great looking powerslam through the table, catching Roman as he charged for a spear. THAT looked awesome. The one thing they accomplished here is showcasing Braun as a beast. From that point, they turned up the juice and there were some good back and forth spots including Roman hitting a spear but failing to get the win. Roman nailed the Superman Punches but Braun wouldn't go down. Braun wiped him out as Roman rebounded off the ropes. Big "Thank you Strowman" chant off that. Braun went to the top and went for a diving headbutt, but Roman rolled out of the way. Reigns speared Braun again and scored the pin. I think that was the wrong call. The latter minutes of the match were very good and this was bordering on great by the finish.
Mick Foley found Samoa Joe backstage. He said Steph isn't here but he knows she wouldn't want Joe to interfere in tonight's main event. He warned Joe if he saw him during the main event, "there will be hell to pay."
Bayley vs. Charlotte Flair in Bayley's first PPV title defense for the Raw Women's championship is next. It doesn't make sense to see Flair's undefeated streak end, but we will see where they go. Dana Brooke was with the challenger, but Flair sent her back to the locker room. Bayley's ring entrance is pure joy. They had some nice back and forth stuff with Bayley getting the better of Flair. Flair went to the floor and when the champ followed, Charlotte struck. She gained control for some time and looked good. She went to the top for the moonsault and for once, nailed it. Bayley kicked up at the last second. Charlotte ripped on her telling Bayley she was just a fan. This fired up the champ, who came back and nailed some nice offensive maneuvers, including a good looking belly to back suplex. She hung up Charlotte in the corner and nailed a move where she drilled Charlotte as she was hanging off, in theory. Bayley stopped mid-move the first time and the second time, hardly nailed it. They battled on the apron. Charlotte yanked her into the buckles. Bayley came back with a top rope rana, which the crowd liked. Bayley dropped the flying elbow but Charlotte kicked up. All good stuff so far except for the one little slip. Charlotte was going for a moonsault when Sasha hit the ringside area and got involved. Charlotte nailed her. Bayley, not knowing what happened, hit a Bayley to Belly suplex on the floor. Charlotte had Bayley pinned but Sasha pointed out that Charlotte was hooking the tights. Bayley hit the Bayley to Belly suplex and pinned Charlotte clean. The streak is over. The story is that Bayley doesn't realize Sasha got involved and that Charlotte agreed to no Dana at ringside, only for Sasha to come out. Match was good, but the ending was more to set up issues leading into Wrestlemania than anything else.
They announced a look at Seth Rollins' rehab tomorrow on Raw.
Time for the main event, Kevin Owens vs. Bill Goldberg.
They are doing the complete Goldberg entrance, right down to security walking him through the hallways backstage. What, Doug Dillinger was busy?
Owens came down and got right in Goldberg's face holding up the belt. Goldberg chants aplenty. Goldberg told him to kiss the belt goodbye.
Owens went to the floor just as they were going to ring the bell. Stall Kevin Stall. He stalled for a long time. Finally, he got in the ring and told them to ring the bell.
Chris Jericho's music played and he walked out on stage. That distracted Owens. Goldberg spear. Goldberg Jackhammer. Goldberg pin.
Goldberg new champ. Internet angry.
Goldberg showed his newly won title to his wife, son and parents before embracing another child at ringside. They went off the air with a beaming Goldberg showing his son the belt.
The end.
