Wecome to PWInsider.com's live, ongoing WWE Friday Night Smackdown coverage from Worcester, MA at the DCU Center!
I am filling in this week for Richard Trionfo, who is off covering MLW live in Florida. You can check out that coverage elsewhere on the site!
We opened with a recap of everything that went down last Saturday at Money in the Bank in Toronto.
Your hosts are Corey Graves and Wade Barrett.
They showed Cody Rhodes walking in the back.
New WWE Tag Team Champions DIY are also walking in, accompanied by Tommaso Ciampa's daughter.
Tiffany Stratton came to the ring for a promo. She said Bayley better keep her head on a swivel because it's going to be Tiffy Time. This brought out WWE Women's Champion Bayley. Bayley told her she may be the youngest Money in the Bank winner but she's going to be the first person to cash in and lose. Nia Jax came out and asked Bayley why she was making empty threats. The crowd was all over her. She said Bayley will defend the title against her in three weeks at Summerslam and she's going to take the title.
Bayley reminded her that she's the same Bayley who has accomplished so much and will embarrass her at Summerslam. Bayley asked if Stratton was going to cash in on Nia if she wins. Nia said Bayley isn't the old hugger and called her BBL Bayley. She said she has no issue with Tiffany, her own personal Barbie Doll. Bayley isn't her toy, just a victim and she's going to victimize her at the PPV.
Bayley went to nail Nia but Tiffany grabbed the arm, allowing Nia to score a shot instead. Bayley was beaten down until Michin hit the ring with a Singapore Cane. Nia cleared the ring as they went to commercial.
They came back showing highlights from the Women's Money in the Bank Ladder Match, which was awesome.
Byron Saxton tried to interview Chelsea Green, who had a Joel Gertner bedazzled neck brace, and Piper Niven. She said she was waiting for Nick Aldis and had no time for Bryon.
Michin vs. Nia Jax
Nia used her power early. Michin went for a sleeper on her back but was powered back into the corner. Michin cut her off and went fo a tornado DDT but Jax shrugged her off and nailed an elbow for a two count. Jax choked her against the ropes. Bayley was at ringside. Jax locked on a side chinlock, trying to wear Michin down. Jax tossed Michin across the ring and slammed her with Avalanches in the corner. Tiffany was at ringside too. Nia was sent to the floor but caught Michin on her shoulders, slamming her forward into the apron as they went to commercial.
After a comeback from Michin, she scored a two count with a cannonball. She went to the top but was caught and tossed off. Jax went for a back senton but Michin rolled out of the way. Stratton tried to distract the referee but Bayley sent her into the guard rail. Michin nailed Jax and scored a close two count with the crowd reacting when Jax kicked out. Jax caught her with a Samoan Drop and a Banzai Drop for the pin.
Your winner, Nia Jax!
Bayley entered the ring but Stratton nailed her with the MITB Briefcase. Jax nailed her with a headbutt and a legdrop.
Stratton and Jax stood tall. When Jax exited the ring, Stratton was about to tell the referee she wanted to cash in but once Jax realized it, Stratton rescinded and they left together.
They went to a Bloodline promo backstage. They had all the titles and it would all be the same if Roman Reigns hadn't lost at Wrestlemania. Solo had to build an entirely new family, a stronger, hungrier one. He promised by the end of tonight, everyone will acknowledge Solo.
They ran highlights of MITB weekend.
They aired an interviewer from earlier today with Andrade, wondering what's next. He said WWE is still his destiny. Carmelo Hayes showed up and said everyone should be talking about him, not Andrade, because he had the star-making performance. Hayes said Andrade screwed him out of the victory and went over his accolades. Andrade said what's next for him is Hayes.
Baron Corbin & Apollo Crews vs. Angel & Berto
Corbin hiptossed Crews over the top onto all of Legado del Fantasmo. Corbin nailed a leaping clothesline on Berto. Berto cut off Crews and stomped him in the corner. Crews came back with a big back body drop. Baron tagged in and nailed a cutter. Angel tried to interfere and everyone brawled. Crew propelled Corbin over the top, taking out Berto and Angel on the floor. After a commercial, Corbin was taken down with a big kick and worked over. He came out of nowhere to catch Berto with a DVDR.
Apollo made the hot tag and cleaned house. He came off the top on Angel but Berto got involved. Berto was sent to the floor, where Corbin went after him. Santos Escobar got in his face but was nailed with a right hand. Corbin clotheslined Berto over the railing. Crew pressed Angel over his head. Electra Lopez distracted the referee, allowing Santos to nail a knee strike. Angel scored the pin.
Your winners, Angel & Berto!
Backstage, Pretty Deadly wanted to see Nick Aldis to get their musical approved. Chelsea Green told them to get behind them to line. No one is getting in front of her. Out came LA Knight from the office. He told her Nick was busy and needed a little more time before he could see her.
Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes was in the back when Randy Orton joined him. He said that if things go sideways tonight with The Bloodline, he has Cody's back and always will. Kevin Owens feels the same but Orton convinced him to stay with his family. He told Cody to give Solo a piece of his mind. Eventually, everything come to an end and when he's done with The Bloodline, a lot of men are coming for Cody's title...and he'll have Cody's back then too.
