Welcome to my WrestleMania Backlash blog. It’s really nice of WWE to schedule this sucker on Mother’s Day. I am sure someone put no thought into that. As I said in the Tip Sheet, gotta be honest, this is just a show because they have to put on a show today to me. As always, it’s not the talent’s fault. It’s the booking. Rinse. Lather. Repeat.
We are opening with Cody Rhodes vs. Seth Rollins in an actual WrestleMania rematch. I wonder how many times we will hear the word drip. I hope zero.
Seth out first. Cody gets serious pyro. Cody should go over here if they really want to see what they have in him.
The crowd is totally behind Cody. Again, he should go over here.
Seth was dripping early and stopping Cody at every comeback attempt.
My wife just said, “Do they have to call him ‘Seth Freakin’ Rollins’ every single time. Yes, yes dead they do. They have psycho yelling in their ears. It’s easier to not fight him.
Cody keeps getting thwarted when he comes back. See, Seth is ready this time for the match and has him scouted. It’s a story that makes sense.
It’s turned into a good back and forth match. Cody got a two with a Cody Cutter. Seth did the same after a superkick combo.
Rollins hit the Falcon Arrow but Cody kicked out. The fans are chanting that it’s awesome (and we can see some doing it so I believe them). It’s a strong match for sure.
Rollins gets a two after a buckle bomb/frog slash combo.
Cody has some serious red marks on his arms and back. This is physical.
Rollins missed a big spot from the top and Cody kicked him. He went to the top but Seth met him and hit a Superplex. He went for a second and Cody reversed into Crossroads, but Seth got to the rope.
They are fighting at the announce table. Then back in the ring Cody went for a moonsault and missed. Seth hit the Pedigree, TWO COUNT ONLY!
Seth is talking smack on Cody now, doing short kicks to the head of Cody. Now he is throwing punches. He just did a Dusty Bolo and Cody nailed Crossroads. Seth managed to roll him up and went to the tights. Cody rolled through and used the tights to pin Seth.
Great match and the right guy won, though it’s probably not over between them.
Big block of commercials. I don’t pay for the commercial free version of Peacock. Maybe they are showing a clip from Raw where the talent has to stand in the ring twiddling their thumbs during the commercial break.
Poor Lashley, his rematch with Omos is next. Jimmy just wondered what has been added to the arsenal of Omos by MVP. How about anything???? I hope Lashley wins this and moves on to someone he can really do great with. The dude is awesome.
Omos is in control early with a grasp of Lashley’s skull that is looser than loose can be. I feel bad that Bobby has to sell this. I wish this was a Smackdown match. At least Pat Mac would be losing his mind and it would be funny.
Omos tries but he just doesn’t have it. Can he get it some day? Maybe but right now he is just not there. Bobby has him tied up in the ropes and is beating him up. The ref is trying to break it up. MVP got involved so Bobby chased. Omos did the OMOS a Claw and Bobby had to sell it and stop. Bobby put Omos down and then did a Hurt Lock. Omos got up and broke it. Damn. This continues.
The sound here definitely seems piped in. Ain’t no one into this. If I hear an “END THIS NOW” chant I will believe that one.Omos threw Bobby into the ring post. MVP then hit him with the cane and Omos got the pin. We all lost with this match because the story was Bobby had it won and the cheating cost him the match so this feud isn’t over. Yay. Poor Lashley. He deserved better.
